Aim: To develop a miRNA-205 based model for prediction of the recurrence of endometrial cancer.

Methods: The FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) stage, grading, myometrial infiltration, lymph node status and miRNA-205 expression levels were extracted from 90 endometrioid endometrial cancer patients, recurrence related risk factors were analyzed by Cox regression analysis. A risk model was then developed.

High sensitivity and specificity imaging of miRNA in living cells plays an important role in understanding miRNA-related regulation and pathological research. Localized DNA circuits have shown good performance in reaction rate and sensitivity and have been proposed for sensitive imaging of miRNA in living cells. However, most reported localized DNA circuits have a high risk of derailment or a limited loading rate capacity, which hinder their further application.

Discovery of potential Q-marker of traditional Chinese medicine based on plant metabolomics and network pharmacology: Periplocae Cortex as an example.

Phytomedicine

May 2021

Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Products, College of Pharmacy, and International Cooperative Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine Modernization and Innovative Drug Development of Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE), Jinan University, Guangzhou 510632, China. Electronic address:

Background: Quality control exerted great importance on the clinical application of drugs for ensuring effectiveness and safety. Due to chemical complexity, diversity among different producing areas and harvest seasons, as well as unintentionally mixed with non-medicinal parts, the current quality standards of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) still faced challenges in evaluating the overall chemical consistency.

Purpose: We aimed to develop a new strategy to discover potential quality marker (Q-marker) of TCM by integrating plant metabolomics and network pharmacology, using Periplocae Cortex (GP, the dried root bark of Periploca sepium Bge.

Metal phosphorous trichalcogenides (MPX) are novel 2D nanomaterials that have recently been exploited as efficient photothermal-chemodynamic agents for cancer therapy. As a representative MPX, FePSe has the potential to be developed as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and photoacoustic imaging (PAI) agents due to the composition of Fe and the previously revealed PA signal. Here, a FePSe-based theranostic agent, FePSe@APP@CCM, loaded with anti-PD-1 peptide (APP) as the inner component and CT26 cancer cell membrane (CCM) as the outer shell is reported, which acts as a multifunctional agent for MR and PA imaging and photothermal and immunotherapy against cancer.

Two new xanthones, oxisterigmatocystins J and K (1-2), and two new anthraquinones, versicolorins D and E (3-4), were isolated from solid cultures of the fungus sp. DWS10-P-6, together with twelve known compounds (5-16). Their structures, including their absolute configurations, were characterized on the basis of extensive 1D NMR, 2D NMR, MS and CD spectral data.

The prototypes and metabolites formed from the use of traditional Chinese medicines (TCM) are typically the cause of both side side-effects and therapeutic results. Therefore, the characterization of substances and the determination of functional changes are of great importance for clinical applications. Secoisolariciresinol-diglycoside (SDG), one major compound in flaxseeds, was used as a potential drug to treat tumors in the clinic; however, the metabolism information and functional changes of SDG were limited, which limited its application.

Functional probes are a leading contender for the recognition and manipulation of nervous behavior and are characterized by substantial scientific and technological potential. Despite the recent development of functional neural probes, a flexible biocompatible probe unit that allows for long-term simultaneous stimulation and signaling is still an important task. Here, a category of flexible tiny multimaterial fiber probes (<0.

Baicalin rescues hyperglycemia-induced neural tube defects via targeting on retinoic acid signaling.

Am J Transl Res

July 2020

Division of Histology and Embryology, International Joint Laboratory for Embryonic Development & Prenatal Medicine, Medical College, Jinan University Guangzhou 510632, China.

We, in this study, studied whether or not antioxidant activities of Baicalin could reduce the incidence of neural tube defects (NTDs) in the presence of hyperglycemia. Using early chick embryos, we demonstrated that Baicalin at 6 μM dramatically reduced NTDs rate and impaired neurogenesis in E4.5-day and HH10 chick embryo neural tubes induced by high glucose (HG).

Prognostic significance of discoidin domain receptor 2 (DDR2) expression in ovarian cancer.

Am J Transl Res

July 2016

Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, Guangzhou Medical University Guangzhou 510120, China.

Increasing evidence has suggested that discoidin domain receptor 2 (DDR2) plays an important role in cancer development and metastasis. However, the correlation between DDR2 expression and clinical outcome in ovarian cancer has not been investigated. In this study, DDR2 expression was examined by Real-time PCR in surgically resected ovarian cancer and normal ovary tissues.

We distinguished the four alleles of OXA subgroups from 138 strains of Acinetobacter baumannii using Polymerase Chain Reaction, and investigated distributions of OXA subgroups in clinical isolated strains. A total of 170 Acinetobacter baumannii were isolated from Shenzhen Longgang Central Hospital between 2010 and 2013. Amplification of OXA genes, blaOXA-23, blaOXA-24, blaOXA-51 and blaOXA-58, were performed by multiplex PCR.
