Background: Fatty acid metabolism (FAM) plays a critical role in tumor progression and therapeutic resistance by enhancing lipid biosynthesis, storage, and catabolism. Dysregulated FAM is a hallmark of prostate cancer (PCa), enabling cancer cells to adapt to extracellular signals and metabolic changes, with the tumor microenvironment (TME) playing a key role. However, the prognostic significance of FAM in PCa remains unexplored.

Donor-acceptor (D-A) conjugated polymers have large Stokes shifts, high photostability, and good biocompatibility and thus are ideal for use as Raman probes . However, few D-A conjugated polymers are used as Raman probes for Raman imaging due to their weak Raman signal intensity and intrinsic fluorescence interference. Here, we developed a D-A conjugated polymer probe (CDT-TT) containing alternating cyclopentadithiophene-thienothiophene units for Raman imaging of tumor and sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs).

Background: The effectiveness of using a balloon guide catheter during endovascular thrombectomy in patients with acute ischaemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion of the anterior circulation remains uncertain. We aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of using a balloon guide catheter during endovascular thrombectomy, compared with using a conventional guide catheter, in this patient population.
Methods: We conducted a multicentre, open-label, blinded-endpoint, randomised controlled trial at 28 hospitals in China.

Limited treatment options and multidrug-resistant (MDR) present a significant therapeutic challenge, underscoring the need for novel approaches. Drug repurposing is a promising tool for augmenting the activity of many antibiotics. This study aimed to identify novel synergistic drug combinations against based on drug repurposing.

Background emergence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial strains is a public health concern that threatens global and regional security. Efflux pump-overexpressing MDR strains from clinical isolates are the best subjects for studying the mechanisms of MDR caused by bacterial efflux pumps. A strain overexpressing the OqxB-only efflux pump was screened from a clinical strain library to explore reverse OqxB-mediated bacterial resistance strategies.

Background: Acinic cell carcinoma (AciCC) of the breast is a rare subtype of breast cancer. It was considered a low-grade triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) with the potential to progress or transform into a high-grade lesion because of the molecular similarities with conventional aggressive TNBC in several genetic studies. Microscopically, the coexistence of classical low-grade and high-grade triple-negative components in breast AciCC is not uncommon.

Brachio-cervical inflammatory myopathy (BCIM) is a rare inflammatory myopathy characterized by dysphagia, bilateral upper limb atrophy, limb-girdle muscle weakness, and myositis-specific antibody (MSA) negativity. BCIM has a low incidence and is commonly associated with autoimmune diseases. We present a case report of a 55-year-old man with progressive upper limb weakness and atrophy, diagnosed with flail arm syndrome (FAS).

Background: For decades, stratification criteria for first-line clinical studies have been highly uniform. However, there is no principle or consensus for restratification after systemic treatment progression based on immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). The aim of this study was to assess the patterns of disease progression in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who are not eligible for surgical intervention, following the use of immune checkpoint inhibitors.

Curcumin (CUR) possesses the capability to inhibit various inflammatory factors, exert anti-inflammatory effects, and alleviate asthma attacks; however, its hydrophobicity and instability significantly impede its clinical application. In this study, we synthesized CUR-loaded nanoparticles (CUR-NPs) and evaluated their impact on the proliferation, migration, and inflammatory infiltration of mouse airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs), while investigating their underlying mechanisms. To achieve this objective, ASMCs were isolated from BALB/c mice and subjected to TGF-β1-induced cell proliferation and migration.

This study aimed to compare the long-term outcomes for SCLM treated by ablation alone (AB) versus ablation plus systemic therapy (AS).
Methods: This multicenter retrospective study using nationwide data from fourteen institutions between October 2010 and May 2023, 369 patients with initial SCLM smaller than 5 cm, no extrahepatic metastases, and colorectal cancer R0 resection treated by thermal ablation were included.

Background: General obesity is a well-established risk factor for gallstone disease (GSD), but whether central obesity contributes additional independent risk remains controversial. We aimed to comprehensively clarify the effect of body fat distribution on GSD.
Methods: We first investigated the observational association of central adiposity, characterized by waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), with GSD risk using data from UK Biobank (N=472,050).

Background And Aims: It is important to distinguish between motor and sensory fascicles of the peripheral nerves for nerve alignment in surgery. However, there are no biomarkers currently available for effective identification of motor or sensory fascicles. The objective of this study was to identify differentially expressed proteins between motor and sensory fascicles of rats in response to injury.

S-palmitoylases and S-depalmitoylases are differentially expressed in various cancers and several malignant tumors and show a strong prognostic ability. Notwithstanding, the potential clinical impact of S-palmitoylases and S-depalmitoylases, particularly in the prognosis and progression of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), has not been clarified. Expression levels of S-palmitoylases and S-depalmitoylases in LUAD were investigated using TCGA.
