Background: Small airway dysfunction (SAD) and airway inflammation are vital in asthma exacerbations. Type 2 inflammation (T2), mediated by cytokines from T helper 2 cell (Th2) such as interleukin (IL)-4, IL-5, and IL-13, is a potential mechanism underlying SAD. Research on small airway function in asthma is limited.

Background And Aim: The development of acute pancreatitis (AP) is strongly linked to blood clotting and fibrinolysis issues. Modern clinical practices now utilize advanced blood markers like thrombin-antithrombin III complex (TAT), plasmin-α2-plasmin inhibitor complex, thrombomodulin (TM), and tissue plasminogen activator-inhibitor complex (t-PAIC) to assess thrombosis risk. Our study used a highly sensitive chemiluminescence technique to measure these markers in AP patients, aiming to determine their early predictive value for AP severity.

Dual-Locked Fluorescent Probes Activated by Aminopeptidase N and the Tumor Redox Environment for High-Precision Imaging of Tumor Boundaries.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

August 2024

State Key Laboratory of Chemo/Biosensing and Chemometrics, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Hunan University, Changsha, 410082, P. R. China.

Clear delineation of tumor margins is essential for accurate resection and decreased recurrence rate in the clinic. Fluorescence imaging is emerging as a promising alternative to traditional visual inspection by surgeons for intraoperative imaging. However, traditional probes lack accuracy in tumor diagnosis, making it difficult to depict tumor boundaries accurately.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of using intraoperative slide rail CT with C-arm X-ray versus just C-arm X-ray for placing screws in patients with pelvic posterior ring injuries.
  • A total of 76 patients were analyzed, with 39 in the CT group and 37 in the C-arm group, looking at various metrics such as surgery time, complications, and effectiveness of the procedure.
  • Results indicated that the CT group had shorter operation times and better outcomes in terms of effectiveness and fewer secondary surgeries compared to the C-arm group.

Predicting the likelihood vascular events in patients with BCR/ABL1-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) is essential for the treatment of the disease. However, effective assessment methods are lacking. Thrombin-antithrombin complex (TAT), plasmin-α- plasmininhibitor complex (PIC), thrombomodulin (TM), and tissue plasminogen activator-inhibitor complex (t-PAIC) are the new direct indicators for coagulation and fibrinolysis.
