Stem cell-derived exosomes: emerging therapeutic opportunities for wound healing.

Stem Cell Res Ther

April 2023

Department of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, 1095 Jiefang Avenue, Wuhan, 430030, Hubei, China.

Wound healing is a dynamic and highly sequential process involving a series of overlapping spatial and temporal phases, including hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and tissue remodeling. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent stem cells with self-renewal, multidirectional differentiation potential, and paracrine regulation. Exosomes are subcellular vesicular components 30-150 nm in size and are novel carriers of intercellular communication in regulating the biological behaviors of skin cells.

Bone metastasis of cancer cells leads to severe pain by disrupting bone structure and inducing central sensitization. Neuroinflammation in the spinal cord plays a decisive role in the maintenance and development of pain. In the current study, male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats are used to establish a cancer-induced bone pain (CIBP) model by intratibial injection of MRMT-1 rat breast carcinoma cells.

Glioma is an extremely aggressive primary brain tumor, which is highly resistant to chemotherapy, presenting a therapeutic challenge. Here, we explored the anti-glioma effects and the underlying mechanism of lycorine, an isoquinoline alkaloid isolated from lycoris on glioma cells. We found that lycorine could dose dependently inhibit C6 glioma cell growth and induce cell apoptosis and intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production.

Temperature sensitive nanogels for real-time imaging during transcatheter arterial embolization.

Des Monomers Polym

January 2023

School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging, Xianning Medical College, Hubei University of Science and Technology, Xianning, PR China.

Several vascular embolization materials are commonly used in clinical practice, however, having application defects of varying degrees, such as poor intraoperative imaging and easy recanalization of embolized blood vessels, they are challenging for application during Transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE). Thus, an intraoperative visible vascular embolization material with good embolization effect and biocompatibility can improve transcatheter arterial embolization clinical efficacy to some extent. Our study aimed to synthesize a novel vascular embolization material that can achieve complete embolization of arterial trunks and peripheral vessels, namely poly (N-isopropyl acrylamide)--acrylic acid nanogel (NIPAM--AA).

Soft tissue sarcomas are mesenchymal tumors that account for about 1% of all malignancies. We retrospectively analyzed a rare case of a painful intra-muscular extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma in the thigh of a 35-year-old man, that had undergone excision. Histological and immunohistochemical analysis of the mass revealed extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma.

Iodized oil has an excellent X-ray imaging effect, but it shows poor embolization performance. When used as an embolic agent, it is easily washed off by the blood flow and eliminated from the body. Therefore, it is essential to use iodized oil in combination with solid embolic agents such as gelatin sponge or to perform multiple embolization procedures to achieve the therapeutic effect.

Noncoding RNAs and Virus and Treatment in Allergic Rhinitis.

Evid Based Complement Alternat Med

October 2022

Human Anatomy Department, Basic Medicine College, Hubei University of Science and Technology, Xianning 437100, Hubei, China.

Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a type I hypersensitivity reaction disease caused by inhaled allergens and immunoglobulin (IgE)-mediated. Noncoding RNA (ncRNA) is an important regulator involved in gene expression and can be detected in the cytoplasm or extracellular fluid, which mainly includes microRNAs (miRNA, length 22-24 nucleotides), long noncoding RNAs (lncRNA, length >200 nucleotides), and circRNAs. LncRNA and miRNA both participate in the regulation of immune function.

The pathogenesis of gastric cancer is a multistage process that involves glucose metabolism, inflammation, oxidative damage, angiogenesis, autophagy, and apoptosis. Moreover, microRNA-340 (miR340) also plays a vital role in tumorigenesis and the biology of gastric cancer as an epigenetic factor. It seems that the use of ketogenic diets (KDs) and plant extracts that have antitumor, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties can be good treatment options to cure gastric cancer.

Integrin subunit β-like 1 mediates angiotensin II-induced myocardial fibrosis by regulating the forkhead box Q1/Snail axis.

Arch Biochem Biophys

November 2022

Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, School of Basic Medicine, Hubei University of Science and Technology, Xianning, 437100, China. Electronic address:

Cardiac fibrosis is a severe condition with limited therapeutic options and often occurs in chronic cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and myocardial infarction. There is currently a clear need to identify novel mediators of cardiac fibrosis to facilitate the development of more effective therapeutic strategies targeting cardiac fibrosis. Integrin subunit β-like 1 (ITGBL1), an extracellular matrix protein, has previously been implicated in various fibrotic diseases.
