Curcumin relieves oxaliplatin-induced neuropathic pain via reducing inflammation and activating antioxidant response.

Cell Biol Int

June 2024

Hubei Key Laboratory of Diabetes and Angiopathy, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Xianning Medical College, Hubei University of Science and Technology, Xianning, Hubei, China.

Oxaliplatin (OXA) has shown high effectiveness in the treatment of cancers, but its anticancer clinical effects often induce neurotoxicity leading to neuropathic pain. Oxidative damage and NLRP3 inflammasome play important roles in neuropathic pain development. Here, neuropathic pain mouse model was constructed by continuous intraperitoneal injection of OXA.

A novel biodegradable amphiphilic triblock copolymer, polyphosphate, polyethylene glycol, and polylactic acid (PAEEP-PEG-PLLA), was synthesized by twice ring-opening polymerization and triphenylphosphine (TPP) was grafted onto the block copolymer to synthesize a carrier material TPP-PAEEP-PEG-PLLA, which was identified byH-nuclear magnetic resonance (H-NMR) spectroscopy. The TPP-PAEEP-PEG-PLLA nanoparticles encapsulated with ursolic acid (UA) were prepared by the emulsion-solvent evaporation method and characterized by dynamic light scattering. The mitochondrial targeting ability of fluorescently labeled nanoparticles was evaluated by laser confocal microscopy.

Chronic pain reduces the quality of life and ability to function of individuals suffering from it, making it a common public health problem. Neuroinflammation which is mediated by the Nod-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation in the spinal cord participates and modulates chronic pain. A chronic inflammatory pain mouse model was created in the current study by intraplantar injection of complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) into C57BL/6J left foot of mice.

Given that cancer mortality is usually due to a late diagnosis, early detection is crucial to improve the patient's results and prevent cancer-related death. Imaging technology based on novel nanomaterials has attracted much attention for early-stage cancer diagnosis. In this study, a new block copolymer, poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(l-lactide) diblock copolymer (PEG-PLLA), was synthesized by the ring-opening polymerization method and thoroughly characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-NMR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).

The molecular underpinnings of pediatric asthma present avenues for targeted therapies. A deeper exploration into the significance of differentially expressed autophagy-related genes (DE-ARGs) and their interactions with the long noncoding RNA (lncRNA)-microRNA (miRNA)-mRNA network may offer insights into the pathogenesis of pediatric asthma. DE-ARGs were retrieved from the Gene Expression Omnibus and the Human Autophagy Database.

Inhibition of HDAC6 alleviates cancer‑induced bone pain by reducing the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome.

Int J Mol Med

January 2024

Hubei Key Laboratory of Diabetes and Angiopathy, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Xianning Medical College, Hubei University of Science and Technology, Xianning, Hubei 437100, P.R. China.

Cancer‑induced bone pain (CIBP) is characterized as moderate to severe pain that negatively affects the daily functional status and quality of life of patients. When cancer cells metastasize and grow in bone marrow, this activates neuroinflammation in the spinal cord, which plays a vital role in the generation and persistence of chronic pain. In the present study, a model of CIBP was constructed by inoculating of MRMT‑1 rat breast carcinoma cells into the medullary cavity of the tibia in male Sprague‑Dawley rats.

Evaluating the Correlation of Hedgehog Pathway with Claudin-1 Expression in Invasive Breast Cancer.

Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand)

February 2023

Department of thyroid and breast surgery, Xianning Central Hospital, The First Affiliated Hospital of Hubei University of Science and Technology, Xianning, Hubei437000, China.

Being a heterogeneous disease, breast cancer illustrates different biological and phenotypic features which make its diagnosis and treatment challenging. This study aimed to evaluate the expression levels of crucial components of the Hedgehog signaling pathway, the correlation between the signal transducer Smo, and clinicopathologic features (lymph node metastasis and metastasis stage) in invasive breast carcinoma. Besides, the inverse correlation was considered between expression levels of Smo and Claudin-1.

Heterogeneous ribonucleoprotein AB (hnRNPAB) is one of the main members of the nuclear heterogeneous ribonucleoprotein family and plays a crucial role in the occurrence and development of tumours. A previous study by the authors demonstrated that hnRNPAB was highly expressed in colorectal cancer tissues and was closely associated with a poor prognosis of patients. However, the contribution of hnRNPAB to the tumorigenesis and drug resistance of colorectal cancer (CRC) stem cells (CSCs) remains elusive.
