It is very desirable to develop advanced sustainable biomedical materials with superior biosafety and bioactivity for clinical applications. Herein, biomass-derived multilayer-structured absorbable microparticles (MQ T ) composed of starches and plant polyphenols are readily constructed for the safe and effective treatment of bone defects with intractable bleeding by coating multiple layers of quaternized starch (Q) and tannic acid onto microporous starch microparticles via facile layer-by-layer assembly. MQ T microparticles exhibit efficient degradability, low cytotoxicity, and good blood compatibility.

State Key Laboratory of Chemical Resource Engineering, Key Laboratory of Carbon Fiber and Functional Polymers (Beijing University of Chemical Technology), Ministry of Education, Beijing Laboratory of Biomedical Materials, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Beijing, 100029, China.

Development of advanced wound dressing materials with rapid healing rates is in urgent demand for wound cares. A suitable microenvironment will promote cell proliferation and migration, which benefits to early wound healing and prevents inflammations and scars. In this work, N-carboxymethyl chitosan- and alginate-based hydrogels are prepared via both electrostatic interaction and divalent chelation with epidermal growth factor (EGF) payload to promote the cell proliferation and wound healing.

Effective hemostatic materials are very important for treating trauma cases. Natural polysaccharides have been particularly appealing in the development of new hemostatic materials due to their unique functions in human bodies. In this work, different polysaccharide-based hemostatic porous sponges (SHDP or SHDQ) of cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA)/cationized dextran were readily prepared by the self-foaming process of HA and poly((2-dimethyl amino)-ethyl methacrylate)-grafted dextran (Dex-PDM) or partially-quaternized Dex-PDM in the presence of sodium trimetaphosphate crosslinkers.

July 2017

Department of Cardiology, Xijing Hospital, Changle Xi 17, Xi'an, 710032, Shaanxi, People's Republic of China.

An increasing body of evidence indicates that inflammation and apoptosis are involved in the development of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). In this study, we sought to investigate the specific role and the underlying regulatory mechanism of miR-145-5p in myocardial ischemic injury. H9c2 cardiac cells were exposed to hypoxia to establish a model of myocardial hypoxic/ischemic injury.

Electronic address:

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has already shown immense potential in antitumor fields due to its low systemic toxicity and negligible drug resistance. However, the clinical application of current photosensitizers is still restricted by the low singlet oxygen yield or insolubility. Herein, series of star-like hydroxyl-rich polycations (Pc-PGEA/Pc) with flanking phthalocyanine (Pc) were proposed for effective water-soluble photosensitizers.

Liquid biopsy to access the circulating tumor DNA is a promising surrogate for invasive tumor genotyping. We designed a multiplex assay based on circulating single-molecule amplification and resequencing technology (cSMART) to simultaneously detect and quantitate hot spot EGFR, KRAS, BRAF, ERBB2, and ALK plasma DNA variants in 103 patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma. In validation studies using an analytical mutation standard, the sensitivity of the assay for EGFR mutation detection was at least 0.

In the present studies locally injectable docetaxel nanocrystals loaded d-alpha tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate-modified Pluronic F127 (DOC-NCs-TPGS-PF127) thermo-sensitive hydrogels were prepared to reverse drug resistance of P-glycoprotein (P-gp)-overexpressing human liver cancer SMMC-7721 tumors. Firstly, DOC nanosuspensions with mean particle size of 196nm were prepared and dispersed into series of mixed solutions containing PF127 and TPGS of different ratios to obtain DOC-NCs-TPGS-PF127 hydrogels. DOC NCs, exhibiting a uniform distribution and very good physical stability during three sol-gel cycles in the hydrogel network, did not influence the gelation temperature.

In this study, the relationship between CpG island methylation and smoking and DNA methyltransferase in the occurrence and development of lung adenocarcinoma was explored by detecting p16 promoter methylation status. Protein and mRNA levels of p16 were detected by immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization assays. p16 gene promoter and exon 1 CpG island locus Hap II sites methylation status was analyzed with the methylation-specific PCR.

Diacylglycerol kinases ζ (DGKζ) is a critical lipid kinase which is involved in phosphatidic acid (PA) generation via diacylglycerol (DAG) phosphorylation. DGKζ is highly expressed in central nervous system and essential for brain development. Studies have indicated that DGKζ is associated with colon cancer invasion and metastasis.
