The objective of this study is to gain insights into the underlying metabolic transformations that occurred during the whole progression of cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)-induced sepsis, thus providing new targets for its treatment. High-performance liquid chromatography of quadrupole time of flight mass spectrometry (HPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS) combined with multivariate statistical techniques was used to detect the s in serum from septic mice. Fifty male mice were divided into two groups, including the sham group ( = 7) and the CLP-induced sepsis group ( = 43).

Background: Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct (IPNB) is a rare distinct subtype of precursor lesions of biliary carcinoma. IPNB is considered to originate from luminal biliary epithelial cells, typically displays mucin-hypersecretion or a papillary growth pattern, and results in cystic dilatation[1]. IPNB develops anywhere in the intrahepatic and extrahepatic biliary tracts, and can occur in various pathological stages from low-grade dysplasia to invasive carcinoma.

Department of Hematology, The First Affiliated Hospital of Gannan Medical College, Ganzhou 341000, Jiangxi Province, China.

With the advent of precision medicine, next-generation sequencing (NGS) is playing an increasingly important role in clinical oncology diagnosis and treatment with its advantages of high sensitivity, high accuracy, high efficiency and operability. NGS reveals the genetic characteristics of acute leukemia(AL) patients by screening for specific disease-causing genes to identify occult as well as complex genetic mutations in patients with AL, leading to early diagnosis and targeted drug therapy for AL patients, as well as to predict disease recurrence by detecting mnimal residual disease (MRD) and analyzing mutated genes to determine patient prognosis. NGS plays an increasingly important role in the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis assessment in AL, providing a direction for the pursuit of precision medicine.

Background: NADH dehydrogenase (ubiquinone) 1 alpha subcomplex assembly factor 2 (NDUFAF2) acts as a molecular chaperone for the assembly of complex I on the mitochondrial membrane, which is involved in the transfer of electrons in the respiratory chain. However, whether NDUFAF2 plays a role in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is largely unexplored.

Methods: Expression profiles were obtained from the TCGA and GEO databases and integrated via R3.

Background: At present, the research of genomics is in ascendency, and using bioinformatics analysis methods to systematically explore the pathogenic genes and their regulatory mechanisms will play a great role in promoting the research of cancer. This study was to search The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database and extract inflammation-related non-coding RNA to construct a prognosis model of colon cancer and search for new immunotherapeutic targets.

Methods: The transcriptome sequencing data and clinical data of 396 colon cancer patients were downloaded from TCGA database, and the inflammation-related non-coding RNA was obtained from the non-coding RNAs in Inflammation (ncRI) database.

Background: At present, there is a lack of novel biomarkers for the early diagnosis and targeted therapy of colorectal cancer (CRC). The current study investigated the expression of miR-17-5p in colorectal tumors and adjacent tissues, and examined the effects of miR-17-5p on the cellular growth of the colon cancer cell line HCT-116.

Methods: A total of 30 paired tissue specimens were obtained from patients with CRC who were admitted to the Department of General Surgery V of the First Affiliated Hospital, Gannan Medical College between December 2019 and January 2021.

Objective: To investigate the clinical value of modified skin expansion in peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC) catheterization under the guidance of B-ultrasound in gastrointestinal cancer patients with chemotherapy.

Methods: In this retrospective study, 60 gastrointestinal cancer patients with chemotherapy were included and divided into an experimental group (treated with modified skin expansion in PICC catheterization under the guidance of B-ultrasound) and a control group (treated with the longitudinal skin expansion in PICC catheterization under the guidance of B-ultrasound). The bleeding volume, pain score, success rate of one-time PICC catheterization and the incidence of complication were compared between the two groups.

Novel Thermosensitive Hydrogel Promotes Spinal Cord Repair by Regulating Mitochondrial Function.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

June 2022

School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cixi Biomedical Research Institute, Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, Zhejiang 325035, China.

The repair of spinal cord injury (SCI) is still a tough clinical challenge and needs innovative therapies. Mitochondrial function is significantly compromised after SCI and has emerged as an important factor causing neuronal apoptosis and hindering functional recovery. In this study, umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSC), which are promising seed cells for nerve regeneration, and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) that have been demonstrated to have a variety of effects on neural regeneration were jointly immobilized in extracellular matrix (ECM) and heparin-poloxamer (HP) to create a polymer bioactive system that brings more hope and possibility for the treatment of SCI.

Periodontitis (PD), also known as gum disease, is a condition causing inflammatory bone resorption and tooth loss. Regulatory T cells (Tregs) and regulatory B cells (Bregs) are vital in controlling the immune response and hence play a role in infections and peripheral tolerance adjustment. These cells have immunosuppressive and tissue-repairing capabilities that are important for periodontal health; however, in inflammatory circumstances, Tregs may become unstable and dysfunctional, accelerating tissue deterioration.
