Introduction: Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) syndrome is a group of rare autosomal dominant hereditary diseases that involve multiple organs. Due to its high recurrence rate and complex and diverse clinical manifestations, VHL is prone to being either misdiagnosed or missed entirely. Therefore, patients with VHL syndrome have a poor prognosis.

Magnetic Susceptibility in Normal Brains of Young Adults Based on Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping.

Objectives: To explore the changes of brain susceptibility of different sides and genders in healthy young adults using quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM).

Methods: Totally 42 healthy young right-handed adults underwent conventional brain magnetic resonance imaging and QSM scans, and the susceptibility maps were obtained by image post-processing software. Then the regions-of-interest (ROI) of bilateral frontal gray matter (FGM), frontal white matter (FWM), caudate (CA), globus pallidus (GP), putamen (PU), thalamus (TH), substantia nigra (SN), red nucleus (RN), dentate nucleus (DN), pons (PO), and corpus callosum (CC) were manually drawn to obtain magnetic susceptibility on the susceptibility maps.

The aim of this paper was to investigate the effect of SIRT1/TSC_2 signal axis on leukemia stem cell senescence induced by ginsenoside Rg_1. CD34~+CD38~- leukemia stem cells(CD34~+CD38~-LSCs) was isolated by magnetic cell sorting(MACS) and divided into two groups. However, the underlying effects and mechanism of miR-142-5p on the osteoclast differentiation of bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMMs) have not been elucidated. The aim of the present study is to explore the molecular mechanisms that regulate the osteoclastogenesis of BMMs for providing more efficient methods for treating bone-related diseases.

Pulse pressure correlates with coronary artery calcification and risk for coronary heart disease: a study of elderly individuals in the rural region of Southwest China.

Aim: This study aimed to define the relationship between pulse pressure (PP) and coronary artery calcification (CAC), a proven surrogate marker for coronary heart disease.

Patients And Methods: A total of 170 participants 50-70 years of age from 11 villages of Yunnan Province of China were enrolled randomly into this study. They were examined routinely for diastolic and systolic blood pressure, PP, and CAC.

Significance of radiology in the diagnosis and management of ruptured left gastric artery aneurysm associated with acute pancreatitis: Case report.

Rationale: Left gastric artery aneurysms are very rare which progresses into hemorrhagic shock and diagnosis is very challenging particularly in patients with acute pancreatitis and cholecystitis whose vitals become unstable suddenly.

Patient Concerns: A 72-year-old female has presented with severe progressing abdominal pain was treated with total parenteral nutrition for acute pancreatitis based on preliminary work up, but suddenly became unstable with dropping vitals over the ensuing 48 hours. Physical examination has a positive Murphy sign and appeared lethargic.

Impact of proteasome inhibitor MG-132 on expression of NF-κB, IL-1β and histological remodeling after myocardial infarction.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the impact of carbobenzoxy-Leu-Leu-leucinal (MG-132) on myocardial remodeling in rats with myocardial infarction (MI) and investigate the possible underlying mechanisms. The rat model of MI was established, followed by administration of MG-132 (MG group), pyrrolidine dithiocarbamic acid (PDTC group) or normal saline (MI group) for 28 days. The expression of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) p65, interleukin 1β (IL-1β) and matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2), as well as the total volume of collagen and the ratio of type I/III collagen were then detected.

Significance of MRI in the diagnosis and differentiation of clear cell sarcoma of tendon and aponeurosis (CCSTA): A case report.

Rationale: Clear cell sarcoma of tendon and aponeurosis (CCSTA) or soft parts is a rare malignant melanin producing tumor entity that is derived from the neural crest cells originating from soft tissues displaying melanocytic differentiation. Diagnosis of CCSTA is difficult as it is dependent on age, size, location, necrosis, calcifications, cystic degeneration, and local to distant metastatic deposits. These tumors have very poor prognosis with a survival rate of 5-10 years because of local recurrence, early to late metastasis to lymph nodes, lungs, bones, and liver.

Objective: To explore the value of micro surface coil combined with three-dimensional reversed fast imaging with steady-state precession and diffusion-weighted imaging (3D-PSIF-DWI) in displaying intraparotid facial nerves and parotid ducts.

Methods: In total 24 healthy volunteers with no parotid disease underwent scanning of head and neck coil and 4-cm micro surface coil combined with 3D-PSIF-DWI prospectively. The obtained original images were processed through maximum intensity projection, multiplanar reconstruction, and curved planar reconstruction.

Insight derived from molecular dynamics simulation into dynamics and molecular motions of cuticle-degrading serine protease Ver112.

Cuticle-degrading serine protease Ver112, which derived from a nematophagous fungus Lecanicillium psalliotae, has been exhibited to have high cuticle-degrading and nematicidal activities. We have performed molecular dynamics (MD) simulation based on the crystal structure of Ver112 to investigate its dynamic properties and large-scale concerted motions. The results indicate that the structural core of Ver112 shows a small fluctuation amplitude, whereas the substrate binding sites, and the regions close to and opposite the substrate binding sites experience significant conformational fluctuations.
