Objective: To analyse the feasibility and compare differences between hematopoietic reconstitution and prognosis of patients with severe aplastic anemia(SAA) after matched sibling donor (MSD) or haploidentical family donor (HFD) hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) using the modified FC/ATG conditioning.

Methods: The clinical data of 56 patients with SAA who received HSCT in First Affiliated Hospital of Chinese PLA General Hospital from January 2011 to June 2016 were analyzed retrospectively. The hematopoietic reconstitution, graft verus host disease (GVHD), transplantation related toxicity (TRT) and prognosis after transplantation were compared.

Background: The detection of solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs) that may potentially develop into a malignant lesion is essential for early clinical interventions. However, grading classification based on computed tomography (CT) imaging results remains a significant challenge. The 2-[18F]-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/CT imaging produces both false-positive and false-negative findings for the diagnosis of SPNs.

Pancreatitis is a type of inflammation in the pancreas, which frequently occurs due to alcohol and gallstones. The present study aimed to identify pancreatitis‑associated microRNAs (miRNAs) by analyzing the microarray of GSE24279. GSE24279 was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus, composed of a collective of 27 pancreatitis and 22 normal control samples.

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to determine whether activation of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a key epileptogenic mechanism in the development of alcohol-related seizure. MATERIAL AND METHODS C57BL/6 mice were administered 10% ethanol in drinking water for 9 weeks. Video-electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring was then used to assess seizure frequency after alcohol and rapamycin treatment.

Early diagnosis of liver fibrosis is critical for early intervention and prognosis of various chronic liver diseases. Conventional repeated histological assessment is impractical due to the associated invasiveness. In the current study, we evaluated circulating miR-185 as a potential biomarker to predict initiation and progression of liver fibrosis.

Department of Division Three for Senior Officers, the First Affiliated Hospital of Chinese PLA General Hospital,Beijing 100048,China.

The concept of bacteria-based microrobot has been well recognized. It has shown great advantages and potentials for the early diagnosis and early treatment of malignant tumor and in reducing chemotherapy toxicities. In this article we review the concept, structure, and potential clinical applications of bacteria-based microrobot.

Background: Abnormal expression of SOCS3 has been implicated in myeloproliferative neoplasms, but the role of SOCS3 in the pathogenesis of leukemia remains largely unknown. Here, we examined the function of SOCS3 in the growth and chemo-sensitivity of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and explored the involved mechanisms.

Methods: Expression levels of SOCS3 in several leukemia cell lines and bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMNCs) from CML patients were determined using quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) and Western blotting (WB).

SIRT2 is a member of the NAD+ dependent deacetylases. In this study, the associations between SIRT2 expression and molecular and clinical characteristics of patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) were evaluated by data from The Cancer Genome Atlas. SIRT2 was overexpressed in the intermediate- and poor-risk groups of patients, compared to the favorable-risk group of patients (P = 0.

Background: Prolonged gonadal hormone deficiency in patients with idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (IHH) may produce adverse effects on the endocrine homeostasis and metabolism. This study aimed to compare basal serum adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and cortisol levels between male IHH patients and healthy controls. Moreover, this study compared the basal hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis in patients with and without nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and also evaluated the relationship between basal HPA axis and NAFLD in male IHH patients.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the potential application of (+)-camphor as a penetration enhancer for the transdermal delivery of drugs with differing lipophilicity. The skin irritation of camphor was evaluated by in vitro cytotoxicity assays and in vivo transdermal water loss (TEWL) measurements. A series of model drugs with a wide span of lipophilicity (logP value ranging from 3.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the frequency of CTNNA1 hypermethylation in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients in an attempt to improve molecular prognostic model. CTNNA1 promoter methylation levels in 319 newly diagnosed AML patients were detected using quantitative methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (qMS-PCR). Furthermore, hematological characteristics, cytogenetic abnormalities, and genetic mutation status were analyzed, followed by assessment of clinical impact.

The dysfunctions of complement factor H in lupus nephritis.

Lupus

October 2016

Renal Division, Department of Medicine, Peking University First Hospital; Institute of Nephrology, Peking University, PR China Key Laboratory of Renal Disease, Ministry of Health of China, PR China; Key Laboratory of CKD Prevention and Treatment, Ministry of Education of China, PR China Peking-Tsinghua Center for Life Sciences, Beijing, PR China.

Objective: Our previous study showed that plasma levels of factor H (FH) were significantly decreased in patients with lupus nephritis and reflected lupus nephritis activity. The aim of this study was to further investigate in vitro biofunctions of plasma FH in patients with lupus nephritis.

Methods: FH was purified from the first run of plasma exchange in four active lupus nephritis patients and two non-renal involvement systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients, and plasma from two healthy controls.

Background: Although the biological insight of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) has increased in the past few years, the discovery of novel discriminative biomarkers remains of utmost value for improving outcome predictions. Systematical studies concerning the clinical implications and genetic correlations of HOXA9 aberrations in patients with AML are relatively promising.

Materials And Methods: Here, we investigated mutational status and the mRNA levels of the HOXA9 gene in 258 patients with AML.

Introduction: This study was to investigate whether there was statistical difference between the bilateral temporomandibular joint (TMJ) in patients with unilateral TMJ pain or joint sounds, using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Methods: TMJ CBCT images of 123 cases were used to preliminarily determine the indicators suitable for the measuring method. TMJ CBCT image reconstruction was performed and 19 indicators were measured.

The early diagnosis of prostate cancer (PCa) appears to be of vital significance for the provision of appropriate treatment programs. Even though several sophisticated imaging techniques such as positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and elastosonography (ES) have already been developed for PCa diagnosis, the diagnostic accuracy of these imaging techniques is still controversial to some extent. Therefore, a comprehensive meta-analysis in this study was performed to compare the accuracy of various diagnostic imaging methods for PCa, including 11C-choline PET/CT, 11C-acetate PET/CT, 18F-fluorocholine PET/CT, 18F-fluoroglucose PET/CT, transrectal real-time elastosonography (TRTE), and shear-wave elastosonography (SWE).
