The clinical value of prenatal ultrasound in the diagnosis of caudal regression syndrome.

Objective: Caudal regression syndrome (CRS) is a rare and fatal anomaly that can easily be missed in prenatal two-dimensional (2D) ultrasonography. This retrospective analysis aimed to determine the performance of combined 2D and three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound for the prenatal diagnosis of CRS.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 168 fetuses diagnosed with spinal lesions by combined 2D and 3D ultrasound at the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from January 2016 to June 2022.
Background: To date, the relationship between thyroid dysfunction and subcortical ischemic vascular disease (SIVD)-induced cognitive impairments still remains elusive.
Methods: Cognitive performances were examined in 215 participants, including 54 healthy participants, 52 SIVD patients with no dementia (SIVDND), 55 patients with mild cognitive impairment (SVMCI), and 54 patients with vascular dementia (VD). Serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), total triiodothyronine (TT3), free triiodothyronine (FT3), total thyroxine (TT4) and free thyroxine (FT4), thyroglobulin antibody (TGA), and antithyroid peroxidase antibody (TPO-Abs) were quantified by radioimmunoassay or ELISA.

Objective: This study aims to demonstrate the protective effect of doxycycline, an exogenous inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases-9 (MMP-9), in the acute lung injury induced by cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).
Methods: A total of 30 healthy mongrel dogs were randomly divided into three groups: Group A (CPB control group, no treatment of doxycycline), Group B (low-dose group, treated with doxycycline at 30 mg/kg) and Group C (high-dose group, doxycycline at 60 mg/kg). The alveolar-arterial oxygen difference (A-aDO2) and respiratory index (RI) were calculated, the concentration of MMP-9 in plasma was measured by ELISA.
