Objectives: To evaluate the preoperative systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), advanced lung cancer inflammation index (ALI), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) capacity to predict the prognosis of stage IA-IB endometrial carcinoma (EC) patients after operation, and establish a nomogram model to guide clinical practice.

Methods: A total of 387 patients with EC (R0 resection, stage IA-IB) were assessed. Clinical information and the SII, NLR, ALI, and PNI values were obtained.

Objectives: To observe the features of conventional ultrasound (US) and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) images of renal wounds after minimally-invasive partial nephrectomy (MIPN) and evaluate their severity using these two modalities.

Methods: This prospective, observational study included 120 patients who underwent MIPN from April to December 2019 in our hospital. The postoperative US images were evaluated and classified, and contrast extravasation characteristics of CEUS were recorded.

The efficacy of sodium bicarbonated Ringer's solution versus lactated Ringer's solution in elderly patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery: a prospective randomized controlled trial.

Objective: To investigate the effect of sodium bicarbonated Ringer's solution (BRS) on lactate metabolism, acid-base balance, and clinical outcomes in elderly patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery.

Methods: A total of 60 elderly patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery were enrolled in this prospective, randomized controlled study. The participants were randomly assigned to the BRS group (n = 30) or sodium lactated Ringer's solution (LRS) group (n = 30) where they received goal-directed fluid therapy with BRS or LRS, respectively.

There were no previous studies on the treatment of seizure-induced elevated CK. We summarized the characteristics and treatments of six patients with significant elevation of CK after seizure onset.

There is significant variability with respect to the prognosis of nonmetastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) patients with venous tumor thrombus (VTT). By applying multiregion whole-exome sequencing on normal-tumor-thrombus-metastasis quadruples from 33 ccRCC patients, we showed that metastases were mainly seeded by VTT (81.8%) rather than primary tumors (PTs).

With the aid of thermally reversible furan-maleimide dynamic covalent bonds and the "polyprodrug amphiphiles" concept, thermo- and reduction-responsive PEG(-COOH)Fu/MI(-SS-)CPT copolymers were fabricated by the Diels-Alder (D-A) coupling of hydrophilic Fu(-COOH)-PEG and hydrophobic MI(-SS-)-CPT building blocks. The copolymers could self-assemble to form composite nanoparticles with a photothermal conversion reagent (IR780) and maintain excellent stability.

Prognostic model for the prediction of cancer-specific survival in elderly patients with stage I-III gastric cancer.

Elderly patients with gastric cancer (GC) exhibit unique physiological conditions and population characteristics. However, no efficient predictive tools have been developed for this patient subgroup. We extracted data on elderly patients diagnosed with stage I-III GC between 2010 and 2015 from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, and applied Cox regression analysis to examine factors associated with cancer-specific survival (CSS).

Objective: This study aimed to compare the ability of three frailty assessments to predict adverse outcomes after elective gastrointestinal surgery and analyze how frailty assessments impact the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) risk prediction model.

Methods: Frailty was measured using the FRAIL scale, Fried Phenotype (FP), and Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS), alongside ASA assessments before surgery. Univariate and logistic regression analyses were used to determine the predictive value of each method.

Effectiveness and safety of mono-anlotinib mono therapy or in combination with chemotherapy in platinum-resistant recurrent ovarian cancer: a single-center retrospective study.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of mono-anlotinib therapy by itself or in combination with chemotherapy in platinum-resistant recurrent ovarian cancer (PROC).

Methods: The clinical data of 35 patients with platinum-resistant recurrent ovarian cancer admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from March 2019 to July 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. All the patients received anlotinib mono- or combined chemotherapy.

Comparison of efficacy and safety between transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with lenvatinib versus TACE combined with sorafenib in the treatment of intermediate and advanced hepatocellular carcinoma.

Objective: To compare the clinical effect and safety of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with lenvatinib versus TACE combined with sorafenib in the treatment of intermediate-advanced hepatocellular carcinoma.

Methods: In this retrospective study, 84 patients with intermediate-advanced hepatocellular carcinoma admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University and the First Affiliated Hospital of USTC from June 2019 to June 2021 were enrolled. The control group was given TACE combined with sorafenib, and the experimental group was given TACE combined with lenvatinib.

Transcatheter arterial embolization of the common hepatic artery for pseudoaneurysm after a laparoscopic-assisted pancreaticoduodenectomy: A case report.

Common hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm is a rare and potentially life-threatening complication after pancreaticoduodenectomy, and the possible cause is unclear. We report a case of intraperitoneal hemorrhage after pancreaticoduodenectomy who was discharged after embolization under digital subtraction angiography. We conside that this complication may be related to iatrogenic injury.

[Clinical analysis of immune function and intestinal flora changes in patients with oral squamous carcinoma before and after treatment].

Purpose: To characterize the alterations of intestinal bacteria and immunological function in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC) before and after treatment.

Methods: From September 2020 to September 2021, 28 patients suffering OSCC and 10 healthy volunteers undergoing treatment at our hospital were enrolled in the study. Conventional treatment regimens were administered to OSCC patients and the changes in immune function, intestinal bacteria composition and short-chain fatty acids were measured 1 week before and 6 months after therapy.

An artificially designed elastin-like recombinant polypeptide improves aging skin.

Background: As a substrate for cell growth, elastin can promote the regeneration and remodeling of the epidermis, which plays an important role in delaying skin aging. However, elastin proteins are more than 700 amino acids long and cannot be absorbed through the skin, which prevents the direct utilization of elastin in the prevention and treatment of aging skin.

Methods: We designed an elastin-like recombinant polypeptide (ELR) which could be absorbed through the skin based on the property of hexapeptide VGVAPG.

Development and validation of an online nomogram for predicting the outcome of open tracheotomy decannulation: a two-center retrospective analysis.

Background: Tracheotomy decannulation is critical for patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) to recover. In this study, we developed and validated an intuitive nomogram to predict the success rate of tracheotomy decannulation.

Methods: We collected the data of 627 ICU patients before open tracheotomy decannulation from two medical institutions, including 466 patients (135 success and 331 failure) from the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University as a training cohort, and 161 patients (57 success and 104 failure) from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University as an external validation cohort.

ETS1 is a prognostic biomarker of triple-negative breast cancer and promotes the triple-negative breast cancer progression through the YAP signaling.

E26 transcription factor-1 (ETS1) is involved in extracellular matrix remodeling, migratory infiltration and angiogenesis in tumors and known to play an important role in tumor progression. However, the mechanism by which ETS1 promotes tumor progression remains elusive. In this report, we show that ETS1 is highly expressed in breast tumor tissues and specifically associated with the tumor metastasis and poor survival in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) tumors, upon analysis by immunohistochemical (IHC) staining of tumor samples from 240 breast cancer cases.

Identification of psychological stressors in cancer patients based on a computer decision support nursing system.

Objective: We aim to improve the decision-making process of nursing evaluation, and the purpose of this paper was to introduce nursing outcome classifications based on standardized nursing language, as well as build a comprehensive nursing evaluation decision-making system model based on an artificial neural network and fuzzy comprehensive evaluations.

Methods: Based on the principle and method of the decision support system (DSS), this paper proposed a framework of DSS and developed an intelligent nursing decision support system which integrates expert systems, data, models and knowledge.

Results: Taking cancer patients as examples, based on the analysis and comparison of cancer stressors and their frequency of occurrence, this paper found that the 5 major factors for cancer patients' stress events were lack of privacy, attitude of the medical workers, unfamiliar medical workers and uncomfortable temperature in wards.
