Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common and serious complication after colorectal cancer (CRC) surgery. Few large-sample studies have reported VTE incidence and management status after CRC surgery in China. This study aimed to investigate the incidence and prevention of VTE in Chinese patients after CRC surgery, identify risk factors for developing VTE, and construct a new scoring system for clinical decision-making and care planning.

TiAlV is a widely used orthopedic implant material in clinics. Due to its poor antibacterial properties, surface modification is required to prevent peri-implantation infection. However, chemical linkers used for surface modification have generally been reported to have detrimental effects on cell growth.

Purpose: Chordoma is a rare and locally invasive neoplasm, and the prognostic factors are limited. Deregulation of Histone 3 lysine 27 (H3K27) trimethylation (H3K27me3) is considered to be related with poor prognosis in some tumors. The purpose of this study was to detect the expression of H3K27me3 in chordomas and analyze the correlation with clinicopathological features and explore the roles as potential prognostic markers and therapeutic targets.

Since the internet of things was listed as a national emerging strategic industry, its development in China has received unprecedented attention. This study takes the lead in proposing the concept and construction framework of the integrated medical internet of things, analyses and discusses the integrated medical internet of things from four aspects: the integrated internet of things infrastructure, the internet of things security management application construction, the internet of things big data application construction, and the integrated management platform. The integrated medical internet of things starts from medical management, based on the hospital's existing information construction foundation, and uses internet of things related technologies to build an internet of things integrated service platform for medical quality and safety.

Protective effect of ginsenoside Rd on military aviation noise-induced cochlear hair cell damage in guinea pigs.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

February 2023

Center of Clinical Aerospace Medicine, School of Aerospace Medicine, Key Laboratory of Aerospace Medicine of Ministry of Education, Air Force Medical University, Xi'an, China.

Noise pollution has become one of the important social hazards that endanger the auditory system of residents, causing noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). Oxidative stress has a significant role in the pathogenesis of NIHL, in which the silent information regulator 1(SIRT1)/proliferator-activated receptor-gamma coactivator 1α (PGC-1α) signaling pathway is closely engaged. Ginsenoside Rd (GSRd), a main monomer extract from ginseng plants, has been confirmed to suppress oxidative stress.

Carboxymethyl Dextran-Based Nanomicelle Coatings on Microarc Oxidized Titanium Surface for Percutaneous Implants: Drug Release, Antibacterial Properties, and Biocompatibility.

Biomed Res Int

July 2022

State Key Laboratory of Military Stomatology, National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases & Shaanxi Engineering Research Center for Dental Materials and Advanced Manufacture, Department of Oral Implants, School of Stomatology, The Fourth Military Medical University, Xi'an 710032, China.

Bacterial contamination and biofilm formation onpercutaneous implants can lead to device failure and be life-threatening. To solve this issue, we constructed a carboxymethyl dextran- (CMD-) based nanomicelle antibacterial coating on the microarc-oxidized titanium (MAO-Ti) surface (described in the supplementary file). The self-assembled CMD-based nanomicelles and octadecylamine (ODA) were developed as a drug carrier and loaded with minocycline (MC).

This study mainly analyzes the clinical effect of glucocorticoid (GC) plus intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) in treating children with immunoglobulin (Ig)-insensitive Kawasaki disease (KD). From September 2013 to November 2021, 86 Ig-insensitive KD children were selected, including 46 children (observation group, Obs) treated with GC plus IVIG, and 40 children (control group, Con) treated with IVIG. The symptom (fever and fever) resolution time, inflammatory factors (C-reactive protein, CRP; procalcitonin, PCT; interleukin-6, IL-6), immune indicators (CD3, CD4, CD8 T lymphocytes CD3, CD4, and CD4/CD8), and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the groups.

Recently, it was covered that cellular retinoic acid-binding protein 2 (CRABP2) is upregulated in ovarian cancer and participates in tumor progression, however, the specific mechanism remains to be explored. The pcDNA-CRABP2 or si-CRABP2 was transfected into SKOV3 and OVCAR3 ovarian cancer cells, respectively, and we observed that overexpression of CRABP2 inhibited cell apoptosis, promoted cell invasion and expression of epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) marker proteins, and transfection of si-CRABP2 had the opposite effect. Furthermore, we predicted that EZH2 interacted with CRABP2, and overexpression of CRABP2 promoted EZH2 expression, knockdown of CRABP2 inhibited EZH2 expression, and co-immunoprecipitation assay confirmed their binding relationship.

[A study to identify obstructive sleep apnea syndrome based on 24 h ambulatory blood pressure data].

Sheng Wu Yi Xue Gong Cheng Xue Za Zhi

February 2022

Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing 100853, P. R. China.

Sleep apnea causes cardiac arrest, sleep rhythm disorders, nocturnal hypoxia and abnormal blood pressure fluctuations in patients, which eventually lead to nocturnal target organ damage in hypertensive patients. The incidence of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is extremely high, which seriously affects the physical and mental health of patients. This study attempts to extract features associated with OSAHS from 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure data and identify OSAHS by machine learning models for the differential diagnosis of this disease.
