The histone demethylase KDM4B functions as a key co-activator for the androgen receptor (AR) and plays a vital in multiple cancers through controlling gene expression by epigenetic regulation of H3K9 methylation marks. Constitutively active androgen receptor confers anti-androgen resistance in advanced prostate cancer. However, the role of KDM4B in resistance to next-generation anti-androgens and the mechanisms of KDM4B regulation are poorly defined.

Osteoporosis (OP) is an age-related osteolytic disease and characterized by low bone mass and more prone to fracture due to active osteoclasts. Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) has been long identified as a nuclear protein playing critical roles in the regulation of DNA replication and repair. Recently, a few studies have demonstrated the cytoplasmic localization of PCNA and its function associated with apoptosis in neutrophil and neuroblastoma cells.

Department of Clinical Medical Research Center, The Second Clinical Medical College of Jinan University, The First Affiliated Hospital Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen People's Hospital, Shenzhen, Guangdong, 518020, People's Republic of China. Electronic address:

Background: Emerging evidence has shown the involvement of dysregulated transfer RNAs (tRNAs) and small RNAs derived from transfer RNAs (tsRNAs) in the pathophysiology of human diseases. The role of tRNAs and tsRNAs in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) remains unclear. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the possible regulatory roles of tRNAs and tsRNAs in the pathological mechanism of SLE.

An outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus 2 infection has posed significant threats to international health and the economy. In the absence of specific treatment for this virus, there is an urgent need to learn from the experience and lessons in China. To reduce the case-fatality rate among coronavirus disease 2019 patients, we should not ignore the complications, such as RNAaemia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and multiple organ dysfunction.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disease that causes multiorgan injury, has an unclear etiology and complex pathogenesis. Numerous studies have found abnormal alterations in mRNAs, proteins and/or metabolites in SLE patients. These findings have extended our understanding of the pathogenesis of SLE.

Histone Demethylase JMJD1A Promotes Tumor Progression via Activating Snail in Prostate Cancer.

Mol Cancer Res

May 2020

Department of Clinical Medical Research Center, The Second Clinical Medical College of Jinan University, The First Affiliated Hospital Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen People's Hospital, Shenzhen, Guangdong, P.R. China.

The histone demethylase JMJD1A plays a key functional role in spermatogenesis, sex determination, stem cell renewal, and cancer via removing mono- and di-methyl groups from H3K9 to epigenetically control gene expression. However, its role in prostate cancer progression remains unclear. Here, we found JMJD1A was significantly elevated in prostate cancer tissue compared with matched normal tissue.
