H-MRS reveals abnormal energy metabolism and excitatory-inhibitory imbalance in a chronic migraine-like state induced by nitroglycerin in mice.

Background: Chronic migraine is closely related to the dysregulation of neurochemical substances in the brain, with metabolic imbalance being one of the proposed causes of chronic migraine. This study aims to evaluate the metabolic changes between energy metabolism and excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters in key brain regions of mice with chronic migraine-like state and to uncover the dysfunctional pathways of migraine.

Methods: A chronic migraine-like state mouse model was established by repeated administration of nitroglycerin (NTG).

Cadmium-induced fetal erythropoiesis disturbances in mice.

Maternal anemia has been identified as a contributing factor to adverse reproductive outcomes associated with cadmium (Cd) exposure, a common heavy metal. Our recent findings suggest that inhibited erythroid differentiation and enucleation also play significant roles in the direct embryonic toxicity resulting from maternal Cd exposure. However, the effects of Cd exposure on lipid metabolism remodeling, which is essential for physiological erythropoiesis, remain poorly understood.

Role of physical activity and sedentary behavior in venous thromboembolism: a systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis.

Increasing studies have investigated the link between physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior with venous thromboembolism (VTE) but the existing findings are not consistent and the independent relationship is uncertain. This meta-analysis aimed to comprehensively assess the shape of dose-response relationship between PA and sedentary behavior with VTE and further explore whether the relationship is independent after mutual adjustment. We systematically searched PubMed, Embase and Web of Science from inception to August 1, 2024.

Association between riboflavin intake and the risk of all-cause mortality of patients with chronic kidney disease: A retrospective cohort study.

Current studies have not clarified the relationship between riboflavin intake and all-cause mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The aim of this study is to investigate whether there is an association between riboflavin intake and the risk of all-cause mortality in patients with CKD. This was a retrospective cohort study with data extracted from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).

Identification of Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia Based on Brain CT and Deep Learning Methods.

With the increasing prevalence of mental illness, accurate clinical diagnosis of mental illness is crucial. Compared with MRI, CT has the advantages of wide application, low price, short scanning time, and high patient cooperation. This study aims to construct a deep learning (DL) model based on CT images to make identification of bipolar disorder (BD) and schizophrenia (SZ).

Exploring the factors affecting the readiness for hospital discharge after total knee arthroplasty: A structural equation model approach.

Aim: To investigate the factors that influence readiness for hospital discharge in Chinese patients after total knee arthroplasty and to identify priorities for nursing interventions.

Design: A cross-sectional study.

Methods: From January to August 2022, data were collected from 339 patients at two tertiary A-level hospitals in Jinan, Shandong Province.

RTP4 Enhances Corneal HSV-1 Infection in Mice With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether corneal lesions in mice with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) infected with herpes simplex virus (HSV)-1 are more severe, and to elucidate the specific underlying mechanism.

Methods: The corneas of control mice and T2D mice induced by a high-fat diet combined with streptozotocin were infected with the HSV-1 Mckrae strain to assess corneal infection, opacity, and HSV-1 replication. RNA sequencing of the corneal epithelium from wild-type and db/db mice (a genetic T2D mouse model) was conducted to identify the key gene affecting T2D infection.

The Effect of Different Doses of Ropivacaine for Caudal Block in School-aged Children Undergoing Shang Ring Circumcision.

Curing of common plasmids in gram-negative bacteria using a Cas9-based conjugative vector.

We report the creation of 17 Escherichia coli strains harboring the conjugative plasmid pLCasCureT with a CRISPR-Cas9 system to surgically "cure" the most common plasmids among Enterobacterales species. This approach can create isogenic pairs of strains to study host-plasmid interactions, correlate plasmid genotype and phenotype, and create plasmid-free cloning strains.

Drug-drug interactions of simnotrelvir/ritonavir: an open-label, fixed-sequence, two-period clinical trial.

Objectives: Simnotrelvir is a small-molecule highly specific 3C-like protease inhibitor for anti-SARS-CoV-2 and was approved as a combination drug with ritonavir (simnotrelvir/ritonavir) in China. Simnotrelvir is a substrate of cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) and P-glycoprotein (P-gp), and a weak inhibitor of CYP3A. Ritonavir is a substrate and inhibitor of CYP3A and an inhibitor of P-gp.

Methods: Relevant studies were retrieved in databases including Embase, PubMed, Cochrane, Web of Knowledge, and ClinicalTrials.gov.

Background: Osteoporosis is a major health concern for postmenopausal women, and the effect of simvastatin (Sim) on bone metabolism is controversial. This study aimed to investigate the effect of simvastatin on the bone microstructure and bone mechanical properties in ovariectomized (OVX) mice.

Methods: 24 female C57BL/6J mice (8-week-old) were randomly allocated into three groups including the OVX + Sim group, the OVX group and the control group.

Clinicopathological and prognostic features of colorectal mucinous adenocarcinomas: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Many studies have explored the clinicopathological features and prognosis between colorectal mucinous adenocarcinoma (MAC) and adenocarcinoma (AC) and have given different results. This meta-analysis summarizes previous evidence and evaluates the clinicopathological and prognostic features of MAC relative to AC in colorectal cancers (CRCs).

Methods: The meta-analysis was conducted by searching the databases of PubMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WANFANG data, Embase, and Web of Science.

The gut microbiome has a pivotal function in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). However, the associated alterations in the gut microbiome-host interaction are unknown. Herein, we aimed to investigate the gut microbiota and fecal metabolites in people living with HIV (PLWH).

Knowledge, attitudes, practices, and barriers of oncology nurses in promoting physical activity in cancer survivors: a cross-sectional survey in China.

Purpose: To explore the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of Chinese nurses in promoting physical activity among cancer survivors and the relationships between these attributes and to identify the factors hindering nurses' clinical practice.

Methods: Nurses from oncology-related departments of 10 public tertiary hospitals in Shandong Province completed self-administered questionnaires that included information about demographics; knowledge, attitudes, and practices of physical activity promotion; and barriers to clinical practice. The STROBE statement for observational studies was applied.

Therapeutic types and advantages of functionalized nanoparticles in inducing ferroptosis in cancer therapy.

Background: The clinical efficacy of cancer treatment protocols remains unsatisfactory; however, the emergence of ferroptosis-driven therapy strategies has renewed hope for tumor treatment, owing to their remarkable tumor suppression effects. Biologically based small-molecule inducers are used in conventional method to induce ferroptosis. Nevertheless, some molecular drugs have limited solubility, poor ability to target cells, and fast metabolism, which hinder their ability to induce ferroptosis over a prolonged period.
