Objective: Fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) are key players in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) by resisting apoptosis via increased autophagy. Elevated synovial aquaporin 1 (AQP1) affects RA FLS behaviors, but its relationship with FLS autophagy is unclear. We aim to clarify that silencing AQP1 inhibits autophagy to exert its anti-RA effects.

Several members of the NIMA-related kinase (NEK) family have been implicated in tumor progression; however, the role and underlying mechanisms of NEK8 in gastric cancer (GC) remain unclear. This study revealed a significant upregulation of NEK8 in GC, identifying it as an independent prognostic marker in patients with GC. Consistent with these findings, NEK8 silencing substantially impeded GC aggressiveness both in vitro and in vivo, while its overexpression produced the opposite effect.

Oxidative stress, dysbiosis, and immune dysregulation have been confirmed to play pivotal roles in the complex pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Herein, we design copper ion-luteolin nanocomplexes (CuL NCs) through a metal-polyphenol coordination strategy, which plays a multifaceted role in the amelioration of IBD. The fabricated CuL NCs function as therapeutic agents with exceptional antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capabilities because of their great stability and capacity to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS).

The challenge of healing diabetic skin wounds presents a significant hurdle in clinical practice and scientific research. In response to this pressing concern, we have developed a temperature-sensitive, in situ-forming hydrogel comprising poly(-isopropylacrylamide---butyl acrylate) -poly(ethylene glycol) -poly(-isopropylacrylamide--butyl acrylate) copolymer, denoted as PEP, in combination with zinc oxide nanoparticles, forming what we refer to as PEP-ZnO hydrogel. The antimicrobial properties of the PEP-ZnO hydrogel against methicillin-resistant were rigorously assessed by using the bacteriostatic banding method.
