Hereditary hypomagnesemia with secondary hypocalcemia (HSH) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by biallelic variants in the transient receptor potential melastatin 6 (TRPM6) gene, typically presenting in infancy. Currently, there is a lack of reports in the literature on adult-onset cases. This case report describes a 51-year-old male with adult-onset HSH, presenting with limb weakness, muscle spasms, and electrolyte imbalances, including severe hypomagnesemia (0.

This study aimed to investigate the expression and significance of serum procalcitonin (PCT), leukotriene B4 (LTB4), Serum amyloid A (SAA), and C-reactive protein (CRP) in children with different types of pneumonia caused by different pathogenic infections. One hundred and one children with pneumonia admitted to The Fifth People Hospital of Zhuhai from July 2019 to June 2020 were enrolled and divided into 38 cases in the bacterial group, 30 cases in the mycoplasma group, and 33 cases in the virus group according to the different types of pathogens. The patients were divided into 42 cases in the noncritical group, 33 cases in the critical group, and 26 cases in the very critical group according to the pediatric clinical illness score (PCIS), and 30 healthy children were selected as the control group during the same period.

Objectives: Tactile stimulation (TS) can promote neurogenesis and motor function recovery in rats with hypoxic-ischaemic brain injury, but the underlying mechanism is not clear. This study aimed to assess the effects of TS on neurological function in rats after cerebral ischaemia and explore the underlying mechanism.
Methods: Adult SD rats were randomly divided into a sham operation (SHAM) group, middle cerebral artery occlusion with tactile stimulation (TS-MCAO) group and middle cerebral artery occlusion with sedentary intervention (SED-MCAO) group.

Importance: In recent years, pelvic-abdominal dynamics has become a research topic in the field of pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD), and the relationship between diastasis of the rectus abdominis (DRA) and stress urinary incontinence (SUI) has been controversial. The study is helpful to further strengthen perinatal education, accurately identify the risk factors of SUI and DRA, and improve the quality of life of puerperae.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the association of SUI and DRA in women with PFD as measured by vaginal palpation or pelvic floor biofeedback machine testing.

The residents of Baisha, a county of Hainan Island, mainly composed of Li ethnic population and relatively closed living environment with its unique geographical location. Our previous study showed that Li ethnic population of Baisha is an endemic center for hepatitis virus, with significantly higher rates than in other parts of China. However, the epidemiology of HBV in this region remains unclear.

The myocardial infarction is the main cause of morbidity and mortality in cardiovascular diseases around the world. Although the timely and complete reperfusion via Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) or thrombolysis have distinctly decreased the mortality of myocardial infarction, reperfusion itself may lead to supererogatory irreversible myocardial injury and heart function disorders, namely ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. Extensive studies have indicated that non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), including microRNAs (miRNAs), long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and circular RNAs (circRNAs), play important roles in the progress of myocardial I/R injury, which is closely correlative with cardiomyocytes autophagy.

Background: The pelvic autonomic nerves control and regulate anorectal and urogenital function. The dysfunction of pelvic autonomic nerves lead to disorders of anorectum, bladder and male sex organs. Thus the intraoperative identification of pelvic autonomic nerves could be crucial in complications prevention and diseases treatment.

Background: In the process of decreasing the morbidity of wound-related complications after vulvectomy and IL for treating vulvar malignancy, we performed a novel surgical procedure-single-incision radical vulvectomy (SIRV). Here, we share our initial experience and report its safety and feasibility.
Methods: Patients with advanced local vulvar tumors were sequentially enrolled in this prospective cohort study to undergo SIRV.

Background: Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. However, the molecular mechanism of NSCLC remains unknown. Accumulating data show that Rhotekin 2 (RTKN2) functions as a novel crucial regulator of diverse biological processes; however, its pathological role in NSCLC remains unclear.

Objective: To develop and validate a computed tomography (CT)-based radiomics nomogram for predicting human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status in patients with gastric cancer.
Methods: This retrospective study included 134 patients with gastric cancer (HER2-negative: n=87; HER2-positive: n=47) from April 2013 to March 2018, who were then randomly divided into training (n=94) and validation (n=40) cohorts. Radiomics features were obtained from the CT images showing gastric cancer.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) has been regarded as an important risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD), and diabetic patients and animals have shown cognitive dysfunction. More research has shown that the amyloid-β (Aβ), which is a hallmark of AD, was found deposited in the hippocampus of diabetic rats. This Aβ accumulation is regulated by the receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) and low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein (LRP-1).
