Background: Craniotomy is highly susceptible to postoperative pneumonia, which significantly impacts the outcomes of patients undergoing such procedures. Our study aims to examine the risk factors associated with postoperative pneumonia and establish a predictive model with a nomogram to assess this risk.
Methods: We conducted a matched 1:1 case-control study involving 831 adult patients undergoing craniotomy at our hospital.

Glioblastoma (GBM), notorious for its poor prognosis, stands as a formidable challenge within the central nervous system tumor category, primarily due to its intricate pathology that encompasses stemness and the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). The ubiquity of S phase kinase-associated protein 2 (Skp2) overexpression in GBM, a protein implicated in both EMT and stemness traits, correlates with increased drug resistance, elevated tumor grades, and adverse outcomes. This investigation delves into the impact of Raddeanin A (RA), a triterpenoid compound extracted from Anemone raddeana Regel, on GBM, with a special focus on its influence over Skp2 expression levels.

Aortic dissection (AD) represents a critical condition characterised by a tear in the inner lining of the aorta, leading to the leakage of blood into the layers of the aortic wall, posing a significant risk to life. However, the pathogenesis is unclear. In this study, scRNA-seq was applied to cells derived from aortas of both AD and non-AD donors (control) to unveil the cellular landscape.

Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) is widely recognized as one of the principal modalities for diagnosing tricuspid regurgitation (TR). The diagnostic procedures associated with conventional methods are intricate and labor-intensive, with human errors leading to measurement variability, with outcomes critically dependent on the operators' diagnostic expertise. In this study, we present an innovative assessment methodology for evaluating TR severity utilizing an end-to-end deep learning system.

DNA damage in spermatozoa is a major cause of male infertility. It is also associated with adverse reproductive outcomes (including reduced fertilization rates, embryo quality and pregnancy rates, and higher rates of spontaneous miscarriage). The damage to sperm DNA occurs during the production and maturation of spermatozoa, as well as during their transit through the male reproductive tract.

Introduction of exogenous genes into target cells to overcome various tumor diseases caused by genetic defects or abnormalities and gene therapy, a new treatment method, provides a promising strategy for tumor treatment. Over the past decade, gene therapy has made exciting progress; however, it still faces the challenge of low nucleic acid delivery and release efficiencies. The emergence of nonviral vectors, primarily nanodelivery and release systems (NDRS), has resulted in a historic breakthrough in the application of gene therapy.

Objective: We performed this pooled analysis for the first time to comprehensively explore the prognostic value of tumor-associated high endothelial venules (TA-HEVs) and determine their relationships with clinicopathological features in solid tumors.
Methods: Four online databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library, were comprehensively searched to identify studies assessing the effect of TA-HEVs on prognosis or clinicopathological features. Hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were applied to evaluate survival outcomes, including overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), progression-free survival (PFS), and cancer-specific survival (CSS).
