Our study had demonstrated that WW domain-binding protein 2 (WBP2) conferred chemoresistance in breast cancer (BC). However, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Herein, a decreased expression of itchy E3 ubiquitin protein ligase (ITCH) was observed in drug-resistant BC tissues which negatively regulated the expression of WBP2.

Background: Our previous research has demonstrated that electroacupuncture (EA) has the potential to mitigate depression-like symptoms resulting from chronic stress. However, further investigation is required to fully understand the underlying mechanisms. The regulatory role of γ-aminobutyric acid type B (GABA) in synaptic plasticity and the involvement of NF-κB/NLRP3-mediated inflammation in the lateral habenula nucleus (LHb) are key factors in the development of depression.

Depression is recognized globally as one of the most intractable diseases, and its complexity and diversity make treatment extremely challenging. Acupuncture has demonstrated beneficial effects in various psychiatric disorders. However, the underlying mechanisms of acupuncture's antidepressant action, particularly in depression, remain elusive.

Objective: Previous studies have revealed that Propane-2-sulfonic acid octadec-9-enyl-amide(N15) exerts a protective role in the inflammatory response after ischemic stroke and in neuronal damage. However, little is known about N15 in Alzheimer's disease (AD). The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of N15 on AD and explore the underlying molecular mechanism.

Background: The elderly, especially those with physical disabilities, often encounter barriers that prevent them from accessing outdoor activities. Their perceptions of the convenience of accessing outdoor activities may be influenced by various factors including their health, the social context, and/or planned behavior. This study aimed to develop predictive models that identify the principal determinants of perceived convenience among this demographic, and it also examined the disparities observed between genders.

Background: ALK-positive histiocytosis is an exceptionally rare neoplasm of histiocytes that predominantly involves the nervous system and can also affect the skin and other parts of the body. Previous relevant literature has provided limited information regarding the imaging manifestations of this disease with neurological involvement.
Methods: We reported a case of ALK-positive histiocytosis with multisystem involvement.

Recent studies have indicated that dysregulation of the Hippo/Yes-associated protein (YAP) axis is associated with tumor progression and therapy resistance in various cancer types, including lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Understanding the regulation of Hippo signaling in LUAD is of great significance. Elevated levels of TRIB3, a pseudo kinase, have been observed in certain lung malignancies and are associated with an unfavorable prognosis.

Objective: Emerging evidence suggests the biological implications of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) in carcinogenesis. Herein, we systematically analyzed the role of m6A modification in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) progression.
Methods: Based on 23 m6A regulators, unsupervised clustering analyses were conducted to determine m6A modification subtypes across 893 RCC specimens in the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) cohort.

Gastric cancer is a prevalent malignant tumor of the gastrointestinal tract accompanied by a high mortality rate; therefore, early gastric cancer screening is critical for improving patient survival. In this study, we present a facile fluorescence immunoassay for highly sensitive screening of pepsinogen I (PG I) based on a one-pot biomimetic mineralization process for the synthesis of gold nanocluster-anchored manganese dioxide (AuNCs/MnO) nanosheets. MnO first quenches the fluorescence of AuNCs through the Förster resonance energy transfer effect, whereas the introduction of ascorbic acid (AA) leads to the decomposition of MnO and rapidly recovers the fluorescence of AuNCs.

Edema represents a notable outcome in fishes exposed to aquatic pollutants, yet the underlying etiology remains inadequately understood. This investigation delves into the etiological factors of edema formation in 7 days post fertilization (dpf) zebrafish larvae following their exposure to InP/ZnS quantum dots (QDs), which was chosen as a prototypical edema inducer. Given the fundamental role of the kidney in osmoregulation, we used transgenic zebrafish lines featuring fluorescent protein labeling of the glomerulus, renal tubule, and blood vessels, in conjunction with histopathological scrutiny.

The research aimed to discuss the action mechanism of the treatment of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP) by denshensu. In the research, 60 rats were purchased and divided into a control group, model group, estradiol group, and denshensu treatment group. Except for the control group, GIOP models were established for all other groups, and then the structural changes of osseous tissues as well as osteoprotegerin (OPG), expression of receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligands (RANKL) were detected.

Objective: The impact of inflammatory response on tumor development and therapeutic response is of significant importance in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). The customization of specialized prognostication approaches and the exploration of supplementary treatment options hold critical clinical implications in relation to the inflammatory response.
Methods: In the present study, unsupervised clustering was implemented on TCGA-KIRC tumors using transcriptome profiles of inflammatory response genes, which was then validated in two ccRCC datasets (E-MATB-1980 and ICGC) and two immunotherapy datasets (IMvigor210 and Liu et al.

The remodeling and stiffening of the extracellular matrix (ECM) is a well-recognized modulator of breast cancer progression. How changes in the mechanical properties of the ECM are converted into biochemical signals that direct tumor cell migration and metastasis remain poorly characterized. Here, we describe a new role for the autophagy-inducing serine/threonine kinases ULK1 and ULK2 in mechanotransduction.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) may be correlated with HPV infection, and the mechanism underlying the ESCC formation induced by HPV16 infection remains elusive. Here, we overexpressed HPV16 E6 and E7 and coordinated the overexpression of these two genes in EPC2 and ESCC cells. We found that E7 and coordinated expression of E6 and E7 promoted the proliferation of EPC2 cells, and upregulation of shh was responsible for cell proliferation since the use of vismodegib led to the failure of organoid formation.
