Background: Previous studies have suggested that adequate myocardial reperfusion after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) can improve the inhomogeneity of myocardial repolarization. However, it remains unclear whether no-reflow (NR) following emergency PCI involves disadvantages related to ventricular repolarization indices. The present study aimed to determine the effect of NR on QT dispersion (QTd) in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and to evaluate the prognostic value of the relative reduction of QTd on ventricular arrhythmia events (VAEs).

Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Male Reproductive Medicine and Genetics, Department of Urology, Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, the Fifth Clinical College of Anhui Medical University, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

Sertoli cells act as highly polarized testicular cells that nutritionally support multiple stages of germ cell development. However, the gene regulation network in Sertoli cells for modulating germ cell development has yet to be fully understood. In this study, we report that heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins C in Sertoli cells are essential for germ cell development and male fertility.

The impaired invasion ability of trophoblast cells is related to the occurrence of preeclampsia (PE). We previously found that pregnancy-specific beta-1-glycoprotein 1 (PSG1) levels were decreased in the serum of individuals with early-onset preeclampsia (EOPE). This study investigated the effect of PSG1 on Orai1-mediated store-operated calcium entry (SOCE) and the Akt signaling pathway in human trophoblast cell migration.

A Prediction Model of Preeclampsia in Hyperglycemia Pregnancy.

Diabetes Metab Syndr Obes

March 2024

Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the First Affiliated Hospital of USTC, Hefei, People's Republic of China.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to identify risk factors linked to preeclampsia (PE) in hyperglycemic pregnancies and create a predictive model based on routine pregnancy care.
  • Clinical data from 951 pregnant women with hyperglycemia, including those with gestational diabetes, were analyzed to assess factors like age, blood pressure, and liver/kidney function.
  • Key predictors for PE were identified as cystatin C, uric acid, and blood pressure, leading to a predictive model with good accuracy (AUC 0.8031) and confirmation of reliability through bootstrapping.

The Regulatory Mechanism of Hypoxia-inducible Factor 1 and its Clinical Significance.

Curr Mol Pharmacol

February 2024

Air Force Clinical College of Anhui Medical University, The Fifth Clinical College of Anhui Medical University, Hefei 230032, China.

Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) is a nuclear protein that plays a crucial role in oxygen homeostasis through its transcriptional activity and thousands of target gene profiles. Through transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation, the downstream target genes of HIF can trigger multiple pathological responses in the body, including energy metabolism, cytopenia, and angiogenesis. There are three distinct subtypes of HIF: HIF-1, HIF-2, and HIF-3.

Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) occurs most commonly after rupture of an aneurysm, resulting in high disability and mortality due to the absence of effective therapy. Its subsequent stage, early brain injury (EBI), promotes the sustainable development of injury in the brain and ultimately leads to poor prognosis. As a new antiepileptic drug, the effect of perampanel on EBI after SAH is unknown.
