Purpose: Both Ku80 and Ku70 are promising drug targets for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and crucial for immune regulation. However, their correlation with HCC immune signatures has not yet been investigated. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the relationship between Ku80, Ku70, and immune signatures in HCC and validate their significance in cytotoxic lymphocyte (CTL) immunotherapy.

Background: Traditional methods for treating diabetic wounds are limited in effectiveness because of their long healing times, the risk of immune rejection, and susceptibility to infection. Suppressing neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) is an effective strategy for reducing persistent inflammation in diabetic wounds. Although disulfiram (DSF) can inhibit the significant increase of NETs in diabetic wounds, oral DSF suffers from rapid and harmful metabolism in the liver.

Background: This aimed to elucidate the impact of stress hyperglycemia on early neurological deterioration (END) in patients with acute non-cardiogenic cerebral infarction who did not experience hemorrhagic transformation following intravenous thrombolysis to identify risk factors associated with END.
Methods: This retrospective case-control study analyzed data from consecutive patients who received intravenous thrombolysis for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) without hemorrhagic transformation at the Stroke Center of The Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from January 2018 to February 2023. END was defined as an increase of more than 2 points on the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) within 7 days of admission.

Brain metastasis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a rare but poor prognosis clinical problem. This study aims to investigate the clinical characteristics and identify the genomic profiling of nasopharyngeal carcinoma brain metastasis. Patients with a diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma who visited at the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University since January 2013 to December 2023 were retrospectively collected.

Objectives: This study aims to present the first comprehensive meta-analysis assessing the effectiveness and safety of drug-eluting stents (DES) versus bare-metal stents (BMS) in treating intracranial and vertebral artery stenosis.
Methods: A comprehensive examination was undertaken to compare the effectiveness and safety of DES and BMS in individuals experiencing symptomatic stenosis in the intracranial and vertebral arteries through an in-depth analysis of clinical research. We conducted an extensive search across multiple databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library up to September 2024.

Background: Debate continues regarding the potential of the ultrasonic renal length to serve as an indicator for evaluating the advancement of renal fibrosis in chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study investigates the independent association between renal length and renal fibrosis in non-diabetic CKD patients and assesses its diagnostic performance.
Methods: From April 2019 to December 2021, 144 non-diabetic patients diagnosed with CKD who underwent a renal ultrasound examination and kidney biopsy were prospectively enrolled.

Ischemic stroke is caused by interrupted cerebral blood flow and is a leading cause of mortality and disability worldwide. Significant advancements have been achieved in comprehending the pathophysiology of stroke and the fundamental mechanisms responsible for ischemic damage. Lactylation, as a newly discovered post-translational modification, has been reported to participate in several physiological and pathological processes.

Purpose: The main objective of this study is to elucidate the role of endothelial-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) regulated by yes-associated protein (YAP) on diabetes mellitus erectile dysfunction (DMED).
Materials And Methods: High concentrations of glucose and palmitic acid (HGP) culturing simulated a diabetic condition . Cell proliferation, migration, tube formation, and marker gene changes of rat cavernous endothelial cells (RCECs) were measured after YAP overexpression or knockdown.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the correlation between multi-mode ultrasonographic features of breast cancer and axillary lymph node metastasis.
Method: A total of 196 patients with surgically confirmed breast cancer between September 2019 and December 2023 were included. Data on preoperative B-mode ultrasound (US), color Doppler, and shear wave elastography (SWE) features of breast cancer masses were collected and analyzed to determine their correlation with axillary lymph node metastasis.

Background: Previous observational studies have suggested diabetic patients should synchronize their foods and nutrient intake with their biological rhythm; however, the optimal intake time of coffee and tea for reducing all-cause and disease-specific mortality in diabetes is still unknown. This study aims to examine by investigating the association of timing for coffee and tea consumption with long-term survival in people with diabetes.
Methods: A total of 5378 people with diabetes who enrolled in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2003 to 2014 were recruited for this study.

Background: Allergen component resolved diagnosis (CRD) is a method for identifying specific protein molecules that cause hypersensitivity. Unlike traditional methods that use crude allergen extracts containing multiple component species, CRD focuses on individual allergen protein molecules for more precise diagnosis. The World Allergy Organization (WAO) recommends CRD as a supplement to clinical history and allergen extract testing, and in some cases, it can replace crude extract tests.

Urethral stricture (US) is a common clinical condition in urology, characterized by high prevalence and morbidity across all ages. Current treatments for US, such as urethral dilatation and internal urethrotomy, fail to fully resolve the condition and are associated with high rates of recurrence and complications. Additionally, the pathogenesis of US is not well understood.

Background: Currently, patients with cT1 stage non-small cell lung cancer measuring less than 2 cm are recommended to undergo sublobar resection. However, it should be noted that there is tumor heterogeneity within these lung nodules. Potential visceral pleural invasion (VPI) is regarded as a significant factor that contributes to local recurrence and poorer prognosis after sublobar resection and postoperative upstaging of the T-stage.

Introduction: The presence of hypoxic-ischemic brain damage (HIBD) in neonates triggers a strong neuroinflammatory reaction. Pyroptosis, a programmed cell death mechanism associated with inflammation, plays a crucial role in HIBD. Pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) plays a significant role in connecting metabolic processes and inflammatory responses, but whether it affects hippocampus pyroptosis in HIBD is unclear.

Liver kinase B1 (LKB1) is a serine/threonine kinase controlling cell homeostasis. Among post-translational modification, Sumoylation is vital for LKB1 activating adenosine 5'-monophosphate (AMP)-activated protein kinase (AMPK), the key regulator in energy metabolism. Of note, AMPK-regulated fatty acid metabolism is highly involved in maintaining normal renal function.

BACKGROUND Giant cell tumors of bone typically occur in early adulthood, when the growth plate has closed. The distal radius is the second most common location affected, accounting for 10% to 12% of cases. Complications of poor soft tissue healing are rare in the distal radius, owing to its rich blood supply.
