Bisphenol-A (BPA) is a common environmental toxicant that is known to be associated with fetal growth restriction (FGR). However, the mechanisms of how BPA induce FGR is poorly characterized. We conducted proteomics to identify the abnormal expression of SRB1 in female placental tissues with high BPA-induced FGR and further verified its decreased expression in human placenta and BeWo cells.

Background: The effects of hypoxia inducible factor-2α (HIF-2α) deficiency on liver fibrosis have not been demonstrated in a fibrosis model induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl). We aimed to examine whether hepatocyte-specific HIF-2α deletion could ameliorate CCl-induced liver fibrosis in mice.
Methods: Hepatocyte-specific HIF-2α knockout mice were created using an albumin promoter-driven Cre recombinase.

Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a common inflammatory disease in otolaryngology, mainly manifested as nasal congestion, nasal discharge, facial pain/pressure, and smell disorder. CRS with nasal polyps (CRSwNP), an important phenotype of CRS, has a high recurrence rate even after receiving corticosteroids and/or functional endoscopic sinus surgery. In recent years, clinicians have focused on the application of biological agents in CRSwNP.

Background: Vitamin D deficiency causes the bone hypomineralization disorder osteomalacia in humans and is associated with many non-skeletal disorders. We aim to estimate the global and regional prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in people aged 1 year or older from 2000 to 2022.
Methods: We systematically searched Web of Science, PubMed (MEDLINE), Embase, Scopus, and Google databases on December 31, 2021, and updated them on August 20, 2022, without language and time restrictions.

In the past few years, immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapy has emerged as a breakthrough treatment for cancers and has demonstrated inspiring effects in tumor patients with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. To allow more patients to benefit from immunotherapy, exploring novel biomarkers based on EBV-related tumors and immunotherapy cohorts was pursued in the present study. The essential biomarkers that may enhance antitumor immunity across EBV-related tumors were identified using the large-scale transcriptomic profiles of EBV-associated tumors and tumor immunotherapy cohorts.

To investigate the etiology, prevention and treatment status, and their corresponding regional differences of the patients with liver cirrhosis in China, in order to provide scientific basis for the development of diagnosis and control strategies in China. Clinical data of patients diagnosed with liver cirrhosis for the first time through January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020 from 50 hospitals in seven different regions of China were collected and analyzed retrospectively, and the difference of etiology, treatment, and their differences in various regions were analyzed. A total of 11 861 cases with liver cirrhosis were included in the study.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is the most prevalent RNA modification in eukaryotic mRNAs. Currently available detection methods for locus-specific m6A marks rely on RT-qPCR, radioactive methods, or high-throughput sequencing. Here, we develop a non-qPCR, ultrasensitive, isothermal, and naked-eye visible method for m6A detection based on rolling circle amplification (RCA) and loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP), named m6A-Rol-LAMP, to verify putative m6A sites in transcripts obtained from the high-throughput data.

Background: Lung cancer has one of the highest mortality rates of all cancers, and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for the vast majority (about 85%) of lung cancers. Psychological and cognitive abnormalities are common in cancer patients, and cancer information can affect brain function and structure through various pathways. To observe abnormal brain function in NSCLC patients, the main purpose of this study was to construct an individualized metabolic brain network of patients with advanced NSCLC using the Kullback-Leibler divergence-based similarity (KLS) method.

Background: The recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after radiofrequency ablation (RFA) remains a major clinical problem. Cells that survive the sublethal heat stress that is induced by incomplete RFA are the main source of HCC relapse. Heat stress has long been reported to increase intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation.

Skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs) are among the most common bacterial infections reported in outpatients. Drug-resistant bacteria are the major cause of treatment failure and increased mortality rate in patients with SSTIs, posing significant challenges to human health. In this study, new-generation rhodium nanoplates (RhNPs) and glycol chitosan- and polydopamine-functionalized RhNPs (Rh@GCS) are developed for the treatment of drug-resistant SSTIs.

Introduction: Bone mineral density (BMD) in adolescence is a crucial determinant in osteoporosis and fragility fractures in older age. Vitamin E is the most abundant lipid-soluble antioxidant present in the blood. However, the association of vitamin E status with BMD in children and adolescents remains unclear.

Background: Previous studies have shown that monotherapy with apatinib, an oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor, has promising efficacy for treating recurrent or metastatic (RM) nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients. In this study, we aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of apatinib combined with capecitabine as a second-line therapy or beyond for treating RM-NPC patients who failed the first-line platinum-based chemotherapy.
Methods: In this single-arm, phase II study, we enrolled RM-NPC patients who had at least one measurable lesion according to the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST v1.

Objective: To investigate a method using multi-sequence magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to synthesize computed tomography (CT) for MRI-only radiation therapy.
Approach: We proposed an adaptive multi-sequence fusion network (AMSF-Net) to exploit both voxel- and context-wise cross-sequence correlations from multiple MRI sequences to synthesize CT using element- and patch-wise fusions, respectively. The element- and patch-wise fusion feature spaces were combined, and the most representative features were selected for modeling.
The prevalence of pretreatment depression in breast cancer patients and its impact on nutrition and prognosis during neoadjuvant chemotherapy remain unknown. One hundred twenty-one patients with previously untreated breast cancer undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) were enrolled. Patients completed the Self-rating Depressive symptoms Scale (SDS) before treatment and were divided into two groups (non-depressive group and depressive group).

Objective: This study aimed to explore whether children with AH have a higher obesity prevalence and analyze the risk factors for otitis media with effusion(OME) in AH children.
Methods: AH patients aged 3-12 years old that were hospitalized in our hospital for adenoidectomy from June 2020 to September 2022 were included in this study. Height and weight were measured to calculate the body mass index, weight for height and weight z-score to evaluate the development of AH children.

Background: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA seronegative (Sero-) and seropositive (Sero+) nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) are distinctly different disease subtypes. Patients with higher baseline EBV DNA titers seem to benefit less from anti-PD1 immunotherapy, but underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Tumor microenvironment (TME) characteristics could be the important factor affecting the efficacy of immunotherapy.

The carotid web is commonly found in the carotid bulb or the beginning of the internal carotid artery. It presents as a thin layer of proliferative intimal tissue originating from the arterial wall and extending into the vessel lumen. A large body of research has proven that the carotid web is a risk factor for ischemic stroke.
