Environmentally responsive hydrogel promotes vascular normalization to enhance STING anti-tumor immunity.

J Control Release

The Guangzhou Key Laboratory of Molecular and Functional Imaging for Clinical Translation, The First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, Guangzhou 510632, China. Electronic address:

The immunosuppressive microenvironment of malignant tumors severely hampers the effectiveness of anti-tumor therapy. Moreover, abnormal tumor vasculature interacts with immune cells, forming a vicious cycle that further interferes with anti-tumor immunity and promotes tumor progression. Our pre-basic found excellent anti-tumor effects of c-di-AMP and RRx-001, respectively, and we further explored whether they could be combined synergistically for anti-tumor immunotherapy.

Objectives: Most functional magnetic resonance research has primarily examined alterations in the affected kidney, often neglecting the contralateral kidney. Our study aims to investigate whether imaging parameters accurately depict changes in both the renal cortex and medulla in a unilateral ureteral obstruction rat model, thereby showcasing the utility of intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) in evaluating contralateral renal changes.

Methods: Six rats underwent MR scans and were subsequently sacrificed for baseline histological examination.

May 2024

Department of Oncology, Guangdong sanjiu Brain Hospital, No. 578, Shatai South Road, Baiyun District, Guangzhou, 510510, Guangdong Province, China.

Article Synopsis
  • The study assessed the link between imaging features, therapeutic responses, and overall survival (OS) in pediatric DIPG patients, including 134 participants.
  • Univariate and multivariate analyses revealed that worse OS was associated with factors like lower Karnofsky scores, larger tumor size, and certain imaging characteristics.
  • Findings indicated that tumor volume reduction may better reflect the therapeutic response than cross-product measurements, suggesting its importance for future clinical trials.

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) exon 19 deletion is a major driver for the drug resistance of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Identification small inhibitor capable of selectively inhibiting EGFR-19del NSCLC is a desirable strategy to overcome drug resistance in NSCLC. This study aims to screen an inhibitor for EGFR exon 19 deletion cells and explore its underlying mechanism.

Background: Three phases are often involved in the intricate process of wound healing: inflammatory exudation, cell proliferation, and tissue remodeling. It is challenging for wounds to heal if conditions like ischemia, persistent pressure, infection, repetitive trauma, or systemic or localized illnesses arise during the healing process. Chronic wounds are persistent injuries that do not follow the normal healing process and fail to progress through the stages of healing within a reasonable timeframe, like diabetic ulcers, vascular ulcers, pressure sores, and infectious wounds.

March 2024

State Key Laboratory of Bioactive Molecules and Druggability Assessment, Jinan University, Guangzhou 510632, China; Department of Immunobiology, College of Life Science and Technology, Jinan University, Guangzhou 510632, China. Electronic address:

Fulminant hepatitis (FH) is a severe clinical syndrome leading to hepatic failure and even mortality. D-galactosamine (D-GalN) plus lipopolysaccharide (LPS) challenge is commonly used to establish an FH mouse model, but the mechanism underlying D-GalN/LPS-induced liver injury is incompletely understood. Previously, it has been reported that extracellular ATP that can be released under cytotoxic and inflammatory stresses serves as a damage signal to induce potassium ion efflux and trigger the NACHT, LRR and PYD domains-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation through binding to P2X7 receptor.

State Key Laboratory of Bioactive Molecules and Druggability Assessment, Jinan University, Guangzhou 510632, China; Department of Immunobiology, College of Life Science and Technology, Jinan University, Guangzhou 510632, China. Electronic address:

Damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) such as extracellular ATP and nigericin (a bacterial toxin) not only act as potassium ion (K) efflux inducers to activate NLRP3 inflammasome, leading to pyroptosis, but also induce cell death independently of NLRP3 expression. However, the roles of energy metabolism in determining NLRP3-dependent pyroptosis and -independent necrosis upon K efflux are incompletely understood. Here we established cellular models by pharmacological blockade of energy metabolism, followed by stimulation with a K efflux inducer (ATP or nigericin).

Background: Utilizing the traditional Cox regression model to identify the factors affecting the risk of mortality due to microinvasive cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (micSCC) may produce skewed results. Since cause-specific mortality can guide clinical decision-making, this study employed the Fine-Gray model based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database to identify significant predictive variables for the risk of micSCC-related mortality.

Methods: This study used the information of patients with micSCC who were listed in the SEER database during 2000-2015.
