The immunosuppressive microenvironment of malignant tumors severely hampers the effectiveness of anti-tumor therapy. Moreover, abnormal tumor vasculature interacts with immune cells, forming a vicious cycle that further interferes with anti-tumor immunity and promotes tumor progression. Our pre-basic found excellent anti-tumor effects of c-di-AMP and RRx-001, respectively, and we further explored whether they could be combined synergistically for anti-tumor immunotherapy.

Natural killer (NK) cells play a crucial role in immune response against viral infections and tumors. However, further investigation is needed to better understand the key molecules responsible for determining the fate and function of NK cells. In this study, we made an important discovery regarding the involvement of the Hippo kinases Mst1 and Mst2 as novel regulators in maintaining mouse NK cell homeostasis.

Objectives: Most functional magnetic resonance research has primarily examined alterations in the affected kidney, often neglecting the contralateral kidney. Our study aims to investigate whether imaging parameters accurately depict changes in both the renal cortex and medulla in a unilateral ureteral obstruction rat model, thereby showcasing the utility of intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) in evaluating contralateral renal changes.
Methods: Six rats underwent MR scans and were subsequently sacrificed for baseline histological examination.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a highly lethal malignancy with limited therapy options. Aberrant metabolism, a key hallmark of human cancers, plays a crucial role in tumor progression, therapeutic responses and TNBC-related death. However, the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood.

Background: Recent data reveal a marked rise in the detection and mortality rates of Desmoplastic Malignant Melanoma (DMM). This trend underscores the imperative for an in-depth analysis of DMM's epidemiology, which is crucial for the formulation of precise medical and public health strategies. This investigation seeks to elucidate the variations in the incidence and mortality of DMM over a 15-year period (2005-2019).

Alginate (SA) comprises repeating unis of β-1, 4 linked β-D-mannuronic acid (M) and α-L-guloronic acid (G) in varying proportions. The M/G ratio greatly impacts its anti-inflammatory properties in tissue healing wound, as less knowledge reported. This study examined the performances of both SA and SA hydrogel crosslinked with copper ions (SA-Cu) with different M/G ratios are studied.

Background: There are few research findings on the survival prognosis of spindle cell melanoma (SCM), which is an unusual kind of melanoma. The purpose of this study was to develop a thorough nomogram for predicting the overall survival (OS) of patients with SCM and to assess its validity by comparing it with the conventional American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system.
Methods: The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database was searched, and 2,015 patients with SCM were selected for the analysis.

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) exon 19 deletion is a major driver for the drug resistance of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Identification small inhibitor capable of selectively inhibiting EGFR-19del NSCLC is a desirable strategy to overcome drug resistance in NSCLC. This study aims to screen an inhibitor for EGFR exon 19 deletion cells and explore its underlying mechanism.

Background: Three phases are often involved in the intricate process of wound healing: inflammatory exudation, cell proliferation, and tissue remodeling. It is challenging for wounds to heal if conditions like ischemia, persistent pressure, infection, repetitive trauma, or systemic or localized illnesses arise during the healing process. Chronic wounds are persistent injuries that do not follow the normal healing process and fail to progress through the stages of healing within a reasonable timeframe, like diabetic ulcers, vascular ulcers, pressure sores, and infectious wounds.

Fulminant hepatitis (FH) is a severe clinical syndrome leading to hepatic failure and even mortality. D-galactosamine (D-GalN) plus lipopolysaccharide (LPS) challenge is commonly used to establish an FH mouse model, but the mechanism underlying D-GalN/LPS-induced liver injury is incompletely understood. Previously, it has been reported that extracellular ATP that can be released under cytotoxic and inflammatory stresses serves as a damage signal to induce potassium ion efflux and trigger the NACHT, LRR and PYD domains-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation through binding to P2X7 receptor.

Cyclizine, an over-the-counter and prescription antihistamine, finds widespread application in the prevention and treatment of motion sickness, encompassing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, along with its effectiveness in managing vertigo. However, the overuse or misuse of cyclizine may lead to hallucinations, confusion, tachycardia, and hypertension. The molecular mechanisms underlying cyclizine-induced cytotoxicity and apoptosis remain unclear.

Damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) such as extracellular ATP and nigericin (a bacterial toxin) not only act as potassium ion (K) efflux inducers to activate NLRP3 inflammasome, leading to pyroptosis, but also induce cell death independently of NLRP3 expression. However, the roles of energy metabolism in determining NLRP3-dependent pyroptosis and -independent necrosis upon K efflux are incompletely understood. Here we established cellular models by pharmacological blockade of energy metabolism, followed by stimulation with a K efflux inducer (ATP or nigericin).

Background: Utilizing the traditional Cox regression model to identify the factors affecting the risk of mortality due to microinvasive cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (micSCC) may produce skewed results. Since cause-specific mortality can guide clinical decision-making, this study employed the Fine-Gray model based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database to identify significant predictive variables for the risk of micSCC-related mortality.
Methods: This study used the information of patients with micSCC who were listed in the SEER database during 2000-2015.
