Transl Res

October 2024

College of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, the Eighth Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing 100091, China; Medical School of Chinese PLA, Beijing 100853, China. Electronic address:

Mammalian lung is the important organ for ventilation and exchange of air and blood. Fresh air and venous blood are constantly delivered through the airway and vascular tree to the alveolus. Based on this, the airways and alveolis are persistently exposed to the external environment and are easily suffered from toxins, irritants and pathogens.

Department of Immunology, School of Basic Medical Sciences (Y.G., M.Z., Y.H., Z.G., J.L., Wei Wang, S.Y.), Capital Medical University, Beijing, China.

Background: Hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension (HPH) is a T helper 17 cell response-driven disease, and PD-1 (programmed cell death 1)/PD-L1 (programmed cell death-ligand 1) inhibitor-associated pulmonary hypertension has been reported recently. This study is designed to explore whether the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway participates in HPH via regulating endothelial dysfunction and T helper 17 cell response.

Methods: Lung tissue samples were obtained from eligible patients.

Objective: To investigate the role of Pink1/Parkin-mediated mitochondrial autophagy in exertional heat stroke-induced acute lung injury in rats.

Methods: Sixty SD rats were divided into four groups: normal group (CON group), normal Parkin overexpression group (CON + Parkin group), exertional heat stroke group (EHS group), and exertional heat stroke Parkin overexpression group (EHS + Parkin group). Adeno-associated virus carrying the Parkin gene was intravenously injected into the rats to overexpress Parkin in the lung tissue.

EClinicalMedicine

May 2024

Department of Breast and Thyroid Surgery, Southwest Hospital, Army Medical University, No. 30 Gaoyantan Street, Shapingba District, Chongqing, 400038, People's Republic of China.

Background: Anlotinib is a new type of tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptors 1/2/3, platelet-derived growth factor receptors α/β, and fibroblast growth factor receptors 1-4 and c-Kit, with a broad spectrum of inhibitory effects on tumor angiogenesis and growth. It has been proven effective in HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer, but its efficacy in early-stage triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is unknown. This phase 2 study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of adding anlotinib to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with TNBC.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the long-term outcome of unilateral moyamoya disease and predict the clinical and genetic factors associated with contralateral progression in unilateral moyamoya disease.

Methods: We retrospectively recruited unilateral moyamoya disease patients with available genetic data who underwent encephaloduroarteriosynangiosis (EDAS) surgery at our institution from January 2009 to November 2017. Long-term follow-up data, including clinical outcomes, angiographic features, and genetic information, were analyzed.

Article Synopsis
  • This study looked at how well two treatments (IRd and IDd) work for older, frail patients with a type of cancer called multiple myeloma.
  • 120 patients aged 65 and older participated and received different combinations of medicines to see which worked better and was safer.
  • Results showed that both treatments helped many patients, but there were different rates of side effects and how long patients stayed healthy after treatment.

We aimed to investigate the correlation between lymphocyte subpopulations expressing inhibitor receptors, IL-6 levels, and the efficacy of immunotherapy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. Blood samples were prospectively collected before and after immunotherapy from patients with intermediate and advanced hepatocellular carcinoma who were treated with immunotherapy at the Fifth Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital from August 2022 to October 2023. According to the efficacy of the patients, patients were divided into effective and ineffective groups, with 40 in the effective group and 44 in the ineffective group.

By establishing omics sequencing of patient tumors as a crucial element in cancer treatment, the extensive implementation of precision oncology necessitates effective and prompt execution of clinical studies for approving molecular-targeted therapies. However, the substantial volume of patient sequencing data, combined with strict clinical trial criteria, increasingly complicates the process of matching patients to precision oncology studies. To streamline enrollment in these studies, we developed OncoCTMiner, an automated pre-screening platform for molecular cancer clinical trials.

Pyrotinib-based therapeutic approaches for HER2-positive breast cancer: the time is now.

Breast Cancer Res

October 2023

Department of Breast and Thyroid Surgery, Southwest Hospital, Army Medical University, Chongqing, 400038, China.

Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer (BC) is a highly aggressive subtype associated with poor prognosis. The advent of HER2-targeted drugs, including monoclonal antibodies, tyrosine-kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and antibody-drug conjugates, has yielded improved prognosis for patients. Compared with widely used monoclonal antibodies, small-molecule TKIs have unique advantages including oral administration and favorable penetration of blood-brain barrier for brain metastatic BC, and reduced cardiotoxicity.

Management of esophagogastric fistula caused by adjustable gastric band erosion: A case report and literature review.

Obes Res Clin Pract

November 2023

School of Medicine, Nankai University, Tianjin 300071, China; Department & Institute of General Surgery, The First Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing 100853, China. Electronic address:

Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) is commonly used in the treatment of morbid obesity. However, with clinical application and long-term follow-up, the shortcomings of this procedure were also exposed, bringing about surgery-related complications include dysphagia, intragastric band migration, slippage, and gastric band erosion. Lower esophageal and gastric fistula is a rare but dangerous complication after LAGB.

The biological effect of irradiation is not solely determined by the physical dose. Gamma knife radiosurgery may be influenced by dose rate, beam-on-time, numbers of iso-centers, the gap between the individual iso-centers, and the dose‒response of various tissues. The biologically effective dose (BED) for radiosurgery considers these issues.
