Mammalian lung is the important organ for ventilation and exchange of air and blood. Fresh air and venous blood are constantly delivered through the airway and vascular tree to the alveolus. Based on this, the airways and alveolis are persistently exposed to the external environment and are easily suffered from toxins, irritants and pathogens.

Background: Hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension (HPH) is a T helper 17 cell response-driven disease, and PD-1 (programmed cell death 1)/PD-L1 (programmed cell death-ligand 1) inhibitor-associated pulmonary hypertension has been reported recently. This study is designed to explore whether the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway participates in HPH via regulating endothelial dysfunction and T helper 17 cell response.
Methods: Lung tissue samples were obtained from eligible patients.

Among the genus, stands out as an important opportunistic infection causative agent commonly found in hospital settings, which poses a serious threat to human health. Recently, the high prevalence of carbapenem-resistant isolates has created significant therapeutic challenges for clinicians. Bacteriophages and their derived enzymes are promising therapeutic alternatives or adjuncts to antibiotics effective against multidrug-resistant bacterial infections.

Objective: To investigate the role of Pink1/Parkin-mediated mitochondrial autophagy in exertional heat stroke-induced acute lung injury in rats.
Methods: Sixty SD rats were divided into four groups: normal group (CON group), normal Parkin overexpression group (CON + Parkin group), exertional heat stroke group (EHS group), and exertional heat stroke Parkin overexpression group (EHS + Parkin group). Adeno-associated virus carrying the Parkin gene was intravenously injected into the rats to overexpress Parkin in the lung tissue.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the deadliest causes of death by cancer worldwide. Liver metastasis (LM) is the main cause of death in patients with CRC. Therefore, identification of patients with the greatest risk of liver metastasis is critical for early treatment and reduces the mortality of patients with colorectal cancer liver metastases.

Background: Anlotinib is a new type of tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptors 1/2/3, platelet-derived growth factor receptors α/β, and fibroblast growth factor receptors 1-4 and c-Kit, with a broad spectrum of inhibitory effects on tumor angiogenesis and growth. It has been proven effective in HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer, but its efficacy in early-stage triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is unknown. This phase 2 study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of adding anlotinib to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with TNBC.

Methods: We retrospectively recruited unilateral moyamoya disease patients with available genetic data who underwent encephaloduroarteriosynangiosis (EDAS) surgery at our institution from January 2009 to November 2017. Long-term follow-up data, including clinical outcomes, angiographic features, and genetic information, were analyzed.

We aimed to investigate the correlation between lymphocyte subpopulations expressing inhibitor receptors, IL-6 levels, and the efficacy of immunotherapy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. Blood samples were prospectively collected before and after immunotherapy from patients with intermediate and advanced hepatocellular carcinoma who were treated with immunotherapy at the Fifth Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital from August 2022 to October 2023. According to the efficacy of the patients, patients were divided into effective and ineffective groups, with 40 in the effective group and 44 in the ineffective group.

Introduction: Titanium (Ti) and its alloys are widely utilized in endosseous implants. However, their clinical efficacy is marred by complications arising from bacterial infections owing to their inadequate antibacterial properties. Consequently, enhancing the antibacterial attributes of implant surfaces stands as a pivotal objective in the realm of implantable materials research.

By establishing omics sequencing of patient tumors as a crucial element in cancer treatment, the extensive implementation of precision oncology necessitates effective and prompt execution of clinical studies for approving molecular-targeted therapies. However, the substantial volume of patient sequencing data, combined with strict clinical trial criteria, increasingly complicates the process of matching patients to precision oncology studies. To streamline enrollment in these studies, we developed OncoCTMiner, an automated pre-screening platform for molecular cancer clinical trials.

Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer (BC) is a highly aggressive subtype associated with poor prognosis. The advent of HER2-targeted drugs, including monoclonal antibodies, tyrosine-kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and antibody-drug conjugates, has yielded improved prognosis for patients. Compared with widely used monoclonal antibodies, small-molecule TKIs have unique advantages including oral administration and favorable penetration of blood-brain barrier for brain metastatic BC, and reduced cardiotoxicity.

Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) is commonly used in the treatment of morbid obesity. However, with clinical application and long-term follow-up, the shortcomings of this procedure were also exposed, bringing about surgery-related complications include dysphagia, intragastric band migration, slippage, and gastric band erosion. Lower esophageal and gastric fistula is a rare but dangerous complication after LAGB.

The biological effect of irradiation is not solely determined by the physical dose. Gamma knife radiosurgery may be influenced by dose rate, beam-on-time, numbers of iso-centers, the gap between the individual iso-centers, and the dose‒response of various tissues. The biologically effective dose (BED) for radiosurgery considers these issues.

Objectives: This article aims to elucidate the role of Long non-coding RNA SLC7A11 antisense RNA1 (SLC7A11-AS1) in oral squamous cell carcinoma, which are expected to be useful for the oral squamous cell carcinoma diagnosis and treatment.
Design: SLC7A11-AS1 expression was detected by quantitative real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) in oral squamous cell carcinoma cell lines. Cellular localization of SLC7A11-AS1C was detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) assays and subcellular fractionation assay.

Ring finger protein 43 (RNF43), a transmembrane E3 ubiquitin ligase, has been indicated to be a potential biomarker for gastric cancer treatment, as this protein increases tumour cell apoptosis and suppresses cellular proliferation. The role of RNF43 in cellular immunotherapy remains unclear. Herein, we aimed to explore the expression level of RNF43 in gastric cancer cell lines and its role in cellular immunotherapy.
