Mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) effectively treat anxiety symptoms across different anxiety and related disorders (ARDs), including panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we investigate whether MBIs also lead to improvements in the quality of life (QoL) of patients with ARDs. A systematic review was performed through electronic search in PUBMED, PsycINFO, Embase, Web of Science, and Clinical Trials databases.

Background: Klebsiella pneumoniae bloodstream infection (KP BSI) is a severe clinical condition characterized by high mortality rates. Despite the clinical significance, accurate predictors of mortality in KP BSI have yet to be fully identified.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 90 cases of KP BSI.

Background: Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs) pose a risk of neurologic deterioration, particularly when located in eloquent areas. While awake surgery is well-established for treating low-grade gliomas near eloquent areas, its efficacy for AVMs is less conclusively reported.
Methods: This study conducted a systematic review and individual patient data (IPD) meta-analysis following Cochrane Collaboration and PRISMA guidelines.

This chapter presents an optimized method for isolating synaptic vesicles (SVs) from neurospheres derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). The protocol begins with neurosphere cultivation to achieve mature neurons, which is essential for the functional studies of neuronal activity. Following this, neurosphere-derived synaptosomes are isolated, and SVs are enriched through differential centrifugation.

Background: It is unclear whether some patients with high-risk breast cancer do not warrant adjuvant dose-dense chemotherapy due to small expected absolute benefit.
Methods: The phase 3 PANTHER trial (NCT00798070) compared adjuvant sequential epirubicin/cyclophosphamide (EC) and docetaxel (D) administered in either tailored dose-dense (tDD EC/D) or standard interval schedule (FEC/D) to patients with high-risk resected early breast cancer (n = 2003). We compared outcomes across key subgroups of interest, evaluated the performance of the online prognostication and treatment benefit estimation tool PREDICT and conducted a subpopulation treatment effect pattern plot (STEPP) analysis.

Purpose: To verify the number of patients with COPD responders to two different home-based rehabilitation programs.
Methods: This was a blinded, randomized, and controlled clinical trial. The six-minute step test (6MST), one-minute sit-stand test (1-MSTST), six-minute walk test (6MWT), COPD Assessment Test (CAT), modified Medical Research Council (mMRC), monitoring of physical activity in daily life, and isometric quadriceps muscle strength were assessed pre- and post-intervention.

Background: Associating temporal variation of biomarkers with the onset of psychotic relapse could help demystify the pathogenesis of psychosis as a pathological brain state, while allowing for timely intervention, thus ameliorating clinical outcome. In this systematic review, we evaluated the predictive accuracy of a broad spectrum of biomarkers for psychotic relapse. We also underline methodological concerns, focusing on the value of prospective studies for relapse onset estimation.

Cardiac involvement in 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) survivors has been reported frequently. An exacerbated immune response may be the main mechanism of myocardial injury and late cardiac sequelae in this population. We investigated the immune profile in hypertensive and non-hypertensive patients with COVID-19 who developed late cardiac fibrosis and edema, as detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Aims: To assess whether telemonitoring improves outcomes in patients with chronic heart failure.
Methods And Results: A literature search was conducted on studies of randomized controlled trials involving non-invasive telemonitoring and heart failure using Medline, Embase, and Cochrane Library. The primary outcomes were all-cause mortality, all-cause hospitalization, and hospitalization for heart failure.

Background: There is a lack of information from Brazil regarding therapies used and outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome with ST elevation (STEMI).
Objectives: To evaluate evidence-based therapies, occurrence of outcomes, reperfusion use, and predictors of not receiving reperfusion in patients with STEMI in a national multicenter registry.
Methods: Patients with STEMI from the ACCEPT registry, with up to 12 hours of symptoms, were followed for 1 year for the occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular events.

This pipeline presents a refined approach for deriving personalized neurobiological insights from iPSC-derived neurospheres. By employing Tandem Mass Tag (TMT) labeling, we optimized sample pooling and multiplexing for robust comparative analysis across experimental conditions, maximizing data yield per sample. Through single-patient-derived neurospheres-composed of neural progenitor cells, early neurons, and radial glia-this study explores proteomic profiling to mirror the cellular complexity of neurodevelopment more accurately than traditional 2D cultures.

Background: The serine protease like (Spl) proteases of are a family of six proteases whose function and impact on virulence are poorly understood. Here we propose alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT), an important immunomodulatory serine protease inhibitor as target of SplD, E and F. AAT is an acute phase protein, interacting with many proteases and crucial for prevention of excess tissue damage by neutrophil elastase during the innate immune response to infections.

Background And Objectives: Scaphocephaly is a craniofacial deformity caused by the premature fusion of the sagittal suture, which can affect skull growth and shape. For decades, surgical treatment or craniosynostosis has involved open procedures, ranging from the removal of a single suture to complex cranial remodeling techniques with large skin incisions. Since the 1990s, endoscopic approaches have emerged as potentially less invasive options.

Clinical phenotypes of COVID-19, associated with mortality risk, have been identified in the general population. The present study assesses their applicability in solid organ transplant recipients (SOTR) hospital-admitted by COVID-19. In a cohort of 488 SOTR, nonvaccinated (n = 394) and vaccinated (n = 94) against SARS-CoV-2, we evaluated 16 demographic, clinical, analytical, and radiological variables to identify the clinical phenotypes A, B, and C.
