Background: Glucocorticoid modulatory element-binding protein 1 (GMEB1), which has been identified as a transcription factor, is a protein widely expressed in various tissues. Reportedly, the dysregulation of GMEB1 is linked to the genesis and development of multiple cancers.
Aim: To explore GMEB1's biological functions in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and figuring out the molecular mechanism.

Genome cyclization is essential for viral RNA (vRNA) replication of the vertebrate-infecting flaviviruses, and yet its regulatory mechanisms are not fully understood. Yellow fever virus (YFV) is a notorious pathogenic flavivirus. Here, we demonstrated that a group of -acting RNA elements in YFV balance genome cyclization to govern efficient vRNA replication.

Objective: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is a three-dimensional structural deformity of the spine caused by the disruption of the biomechanical balance of the spine. However, the current biomechanical modeling and analysis methods of scoliosis cannot really describe the real state of the spine. This study aims to propose a high-precision biomechanical modeling and analysis method that can reflect the spinal state under gravity and provide a theoretical basis for therapeutics.

Tandem spinal stenosis (TSS) is defined as the concomitant occurrence of stenosis in at least two or more distinct regions (cervical, thoracic, or lumbar) of the spine and may present with a constellation of signs and symptoms. It has four subtypes, including cervico-lumbar, cervico-thoracic, thoraco-lumbar, and cervico-thoraco-lumbar TSS. The prevalence of TSS varies depending on the different subtypes and cohorts.

Hepatitis A virus (HAV) live-attenuated vaccine H2 strain has been approved for clinical use for decades with ideal safety profiles in nonhuman primate models and humans. Recently, type I interferon (IFN) receptor-deficient mice were shown to be susceptible to HAV infection. Herein, we sought to determine the infection and replication dynamics of the H2 in Ifnar mice that lack type I IFN receptor.

Background: The homeostasis of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is modulated by both their own intracellular molecules and extracellular milieu signals. Hematopoiesis in the bone marrow is maintained by niche cells, including MSCs, and it is indispensable for life. The role of MSCs in maintaining hematopoietic homeostasis has been fully elucidated.

Purpose: Hemivertebra is one of the common pathogenesis of congenital scoliosis. The timing of operation is undefined. Our study compared the surgical outcomes in children under age 10 years with scoliosis due to single nonincarcerated thoracolumbar hemivertebra according to the age at surgery.

Yellow fever virus (YFV) is a re-emerging flavivirus, which can lead to severe clinical manifestations and high mortality, with no specific antiviral therapies available. The live-attenuated yellow fever vaccine 17D (YF17D) has been widely used for over eighty years. However, the emergence of yellow fever vaccine-associated viscerotropic disease (YFL-AVD) and yellow fever vaccine-associated neurotropic disease (YFL-AND) raised non-negligible concerns.

Rapid hemostasis and formation of stable blood clots are very important to prevent massive blood loss from the excessive bleeding for living body, but their own clotting process cannot be completed in time for effective hemostasis without the help of hemostatic materials. In general, traditionally suturing and stapling techniques for wound closure are prone to cause the additional damages to the tissues, activated inflammatory responses, short usage periods and inevitable second operations in clinical applications. Especially for the large wounds that require the urgent closure of fluids or gases, these conventional closure methods are far from enough.

Objective: To study the compatibility of traditional tracers and viral tracers with tissue clearing technology and to provide guidance in choosing suitable tracing methods for a specific tissue clearing technique.
Method: Experiment 1: In this study, two different types of representative tracers, namely fluorescent dye tracers (Fluoro-Gold and Fluoro-Ruby) and viral tracers carrying fluorescent proteins (rAAV9-hSyn-mCherry-WPRE-pA and rAAV9-hSyn-EGFP-WPRE-pA), were selected to trace the cerebrospinal tract of the animals by microinjection. Furthermore, we presented the signal changes after using the three representative transparentizing methods, which included FRUIT (aqueous tissue clearing), 3DISCO (solvent-based tissue clearing), and uDISCO (solvent-based tissue clearing), were compared after slicing.

Purpose: Evaluate the feasibility of fluorine-18 (F) fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging in patients with gastric cancer by optimizing the scan protocol and to compare the image quality to F FDG PET and computed tomography (CT).
Methods: The PET/CT and PET/MR imaging were sequentially performed in 30 patients with gastric cancer diagnosed by gastroscope using a single-injection-with-dual-imaging protocol. After intravenous injection of F-FDG (mean, 249 MBq), PET/CT imaging including low-dose CT was performed (mean uptake time, 47 ± 6 min), and PET/MR imaging including a T1-weighted Dixon sequence for attenuation correction and two different T2-weighted sequences was subsequently acquired (88 ± 15 min after F-FDG injection).
