The persistent emergence of COVID-19 variants and recurrent waves of infection worldwide underscores the urgent need for vaccines that effectively reduce viral transmission and prevent infections. Current intramuscular (IM) COVID-19 vaccines inadequately protect the upper respiratory mucosa. In response, we have developed a nonadjuvanted, interferon-armed SARS-CoV-2 fusion protein vaccine with IM priming and intranasal (IN) boost sequential immunization.

Background: Patient involvement in research can help to ensure that the evidence generated aligns with their needs and priorities. In the Establishing Meaningful Patient-Centered Outcomes With Relevance for Patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease (EMPOWER PKD) project we aimed to identify patient-important outcomes and discuss the impact of PKD on patients.
Methods: Nine focus groups were held with adult patients with PKD, caregivers, and clinical or research experts in PKD.

Objectives: Staphylococcus aureus is part of the human microbiota, but at the same time, it is capable of causing a wide range of diseases. Due to the ever-increasing resistance to antimicrobial agents and the existence of methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) strains, there is a real possibility of carrying even this resistant bacterium, which can subsequently cause a severe infection.

Background: Upfront 2-stent techniques are often used in bifurcation percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), but there is controversy about optimal strategy selection.
Methods: The authors examined the clinical and angiographic characteristics and long-term outcomes of 232 bifurcation PCIs that were performed using the double kissing (DK) crush or culotte technique in 216 patients between 2014 and 2023 using data from the Prospective Global Registry for the Study of Bifurcation Lesion Interventions (NCT05100992). The inverse probability of treatment weighted (IPTW) Cox proportional hazards model was used to assess long-term outcomes.

Objectives: The Wolverine cutting balloon (CB) (Boston Scientific) is a specialized balloon catheter with microsurgical blades that is used for balloon-resistant lesions. The Manufacturer and User Facility Device Experience (MAUDE) database serves as a repository for reports of medical device complications. The aim of this study was to analyze complications associated with CB use during percutaneous coronary intervention in real-world contemporary practice.

Introduction: Dysmenorrhea is a painful symptom associated with uterine contractions and menstrual bleeding and is treated by administering analgesic drugs. Since progesterone receptors (PRs) have a major role in regulating uterine tissues (myometrium and endometrium) oral contraceptives are used off-label for treating primary or secondary dysmenorrhea. The development of selective progesterone receptor modulators (SPRMs) a class of synthetic steroids with agonistic, antagonistic, or mixed effects in targeting PRs in different tissues stimulated their possible clinical use for treating secondary dysmenorrhea related to uterine diseases (endometriosis, adenomyosis, uterine fibroids).

Importance: The integration of patient-reported outcome (PRO) assessments in cardiovascular care has encountered considerable obstacles despite their established clinical relevance.
Objective: To assess the impact of a physician- and patient-friendly electronic PRO (ePRO) monitoring system on the quality of cardiovascular care in clinical practice.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This open-label, multicenter, pilot randomized clinical trial was phase 2 of a multiphase study that was conducted from October 2022 to October 2023 and focused on the implementation and evaluation of an ePRO monitoring system in outpatient clinics in Japan.

Importance: Nearly all Medicare Advantage (MA) plans offer dental, vision, and hearing benefits not covered by traditional Medicare (TM). However, little is known about MA enrollees' use of those benefits or how much they cost MA insurers or enrollees.
Objective: To estimate use, out-of-pocket (OOP) spending, and insurer payments for dental, hearing, and vision services among Medicare beneficiaries.

Purpose Of Review: To increase knowledge of the natural history of recovery and long-term outcome following severe traumatic brain injury (sTBI).
Recent Findings: Recovery of consciousness and complex behaviors that presage subsequent functional recovery frequently occurs well beyond the first 7 days after injury, which is typically the time period widely used in the ICU for prognostic decision-making and establishing goals of care for. Similarly, recovery of functional independence occurs between 1 and 10 years postinjury in a substantial proportion of patients who do not recover command-following during the acute hospitalization.

Myocardial infarction (MI) is a coronary artery-related disease that seriously threatens human life and is the leading cause of sudden death worldwide, where a lack of nutrients and oxygen leads to an inflammatory response and death of cardiomyocytes. Ferroptosis is a form of non-apoptotic cell death associated with metabolic dysfunction, resulting in abnormal breakdown of glutamine and iron-dependent accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) during metabolism. However, the molecular mechanism of ferroptosis in the pathogenesis of MI and the function of Klotho and KRAS on ferroptosis during MI remain unclear.

Dysregulated circular RNAs (circRNAs) has been revealed to be involved in pulmonary fibrosis progression. Herein, this study focused on exploring the function and mechanism of circRNA Zinc Finger MYM-Type Containing 2 (circZMYM2) on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) using transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1-stimulated fibroblasts. Human fibroblast cell lines IMR-90 and HFL1 were stimulated with TGF-β1 to mimic fibrosis condition in vitro.

This study aims to explore the efficacy of neutrophil membrane nanovesicles (NMNVs) in the treatment of acute kidney injury caused by sepsis (S-AKI). Moreover, its effects on renal function indicators in plasma [creatinine (CREA), urea (UREA)], oxidative stress factor [malondialdehyde (MDA)], inflammatory factor [myeloperoxidase (MPO), histone H4 (H4), and macrophage inflammatory protein-2 (MIP-2)] are studied. Sixty SPF grade adult male Wistar rats in a healthy state under natural infection were randomly divided into blank, LSP, and experimental groups, with 20 rats in each group.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the clinical utility of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) evaluated by "average" and "hot-spot" methods in breast cancer patients.
Methods: We examined 367 breast cancer patients without neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) by average and hot-spot methods to determine the consistency of TIL scores between biopsy and surgical specimens. TIL scores before NAC were also compared with the pathological complete response (pCR) rate and clinical outcomes in 144 breast cancer patients that received NAC.

Exosome markers, CD63 and CD81, belong to the tetraspanin family and are expressed in solid tumors. It has been reported that these tetraspanin family members are prognostic factors in some cancers. However, the expression of CD63 and CD81 in pathological breast cancer specimens has not been reported.
