The aim of this White Paper is to provide a well-balanced educational narrative of the menopause and menopause hormone therapy (MHT) from IMS experts, leading into World Menopause Day 2024. This is achieved by exploring the anthropology and history of menopause, the principles and controversies of prescribing MHT, and by placing this into regulatory and menopause society contexts.

The use of monoclonal antibodies for the control of drug resistant nosocomial bacteria may alleviate a reliance on broad spectrum antimicrobials for treatment of infection. We identify monoclonal antibodies that may prevent infection caused by carbapenem resistant Acinetobacter baumannii. We use human immune repertoire mice (Kymouse platform mice) as a surrogate for human B cell interrogation to establish an unbiased strategy to probe the antibody-accessible target landscape of clinically relevant A.

Hirschsprung disease (HD) is a congenital disorder characterized by the absence of ganglion cells in the distal colon and rectum, leading to functional obstruction and severe constipation. Over the past decades, the surgical management of HD has significantly evolved, with minimally invasive surgery (MIS) techniques revolutionizing treatment approaches. This review explores recent innovations in MIS for HD, focusing on laparoscopic, transanal endorectal pull-through (TERPT), and robotic-assisted techniques.

While numerous intensive care unit scoring systems exist, their utility in the early hours following hospital admission, specifically in the targeted temperature management (TTM) population, is questionable. Our aim was to create a score system that may accurately estimate outcome within the first 12 h after admission in patients receiving TTM.

Background: Patients with lymphoma may require intensive care (ICU) because of disease- or treatment-related complications. The lymphoma-HIV interaction complicates management, but whether outcomes are worse in these patients, when critically ill, is unclear. A retrospective observational cohort study reviewed outcomes of patients admitted to ICU, subsequent 5-year survival, and prognostic factors.

This systematic review evaluates the impact of obesity on the outcomes of laparoscopic versus open cholecystectomy, analyzing data from five key studies. The review explores differences in operative times, complication rates, conversion rates, and recovery times among obese patients undergoing these surgical procedures. The findings indicate that while laparoscopic cholecystectomy in obese patients tends to require longer operative times, it does not significantly increase complication rates compared to open cholecystectomy.

Treatment Wetlands (TWs) are widely used for the treatment of domestic wastewater, with an increasing emphasis on provision of multiple co-benefits. However, concerns remain regarding achieving stringent phosphorus (P) discharge limits, system robustness and resilience, and associated guidance on system design and operation. Typically, where P removal is intended with a passive TW, surface flow (SF) systems are the chosen design type.

Psychological well-being (PWB) is a combination of feeling good and functioning efficiently, and has a significant relationship with physical and mental health. Previous research has shown that PWB is associated with improvements in selective attention, mindfulness, semantic self-images, and adaptive decision making, however, it is unclear how these differences manifest in the brain. Naturalistic stimuli better encapsulate everyday experiences and can elicit more "true-to-life" neural responses.
