As the main active compound of Glycyrrhiza glabra L., glabridin (GLD) has been shown to have multiple bioactivities, whereas the clinical application of GLD is restricted by its low water solubility. In this study, GLD was encapsulated into a sulfobutylether-β-cyclodextrin (SBE-β-CD)-based inclusion complex (SBE-β-CD/GLD) by the freeze-drying method.

Background: Impaired wound healing in traumatic skin injuries remains a severe clinical challenge due to impaired re-vascularization, harmful bacteria infection, and inflammation dysregulation. Macrophages are recognized as prominent immune cells in tissue regeneration and wound healing. Consequently, the modulation of macrophages provides a promising therapeutic target for wound healing disorders.

Background: Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is considered a promising method in lung lesion assessment.

Methods: Sixty-four patients with single pulmonary lesions (SPLs) received DCE-MRI at 3.0 T.

Poor survival and restricted function of transplanted stem cells are regarded as limiting their efficacy in wound recovery greatly. Consequently, it is necessary to identify innovative therapeutic strategies to solve these issues. Firstly, the biological effect of PF-127 hydrogel alone and in combination with SAP on the survival, and migration of cultured HUCMSCs was assessed by cell viability, apoptosis, and scratch wound assays.

The Performance of Metagenomic Next-Generation Sequence in the Diagnosis of Suspected Opportunistic Infections in Patients with Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome.

Infect Drug Resist

September 2022

Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Jinling Hospital, The First School of Clinical Medicine, Southern Medical University, Nanjing, People's Republic of China.

Background: For acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients with suspected opportunistic infections, the rapid and accurate identification of pathogens remains a challenge. Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) has emerged as a pan-pathogen assay for infectious diseases diagnosis, but its guiding significance for diagnosis and antimicrobials treatment in AIDS patients with suspected opportunistic infections is still not well established. In this study, we compared the microbiological diagnostic value of mNGS with that of conventional microbiological tests (CMTs) in AIDS patients with suspected opportunistic infections.

Z-score model of foetal ascending aorta diameter distensibility.

Front Cardiovasc Med

August 2022

Department of Ultrasound Diagnosis, The Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, China.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to establish Z-scores models of normal fetal ascending aorta diameter and diameter distensibility.

Methods: The maximum systolic diameter (Dmax), minimum diastolic diameter (Dmin), and diameter distensibility of the sinotubular junction were measured and taken as dependent variables in 490 normal fetuses at 18-40 gestational weeks, and gestational age (GA), biparietal diameter (BPD), and femoral length (FL) were taken as independent variables. The data were subjected to regression analysis, and the best-fitting equations for the dependent variables based on the independent variables were determined.

Efficacy of Human Adipose Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Promoting Skin Wound Healing.

J Healthc Eng

April 2022

Department of Anesthesia,Affiliated Longhua People's Hospital, Southern Medical University, Longhua People's Hospital, Shenzhen 518000, China.

Background: The aim of this pilot clinical study is to evaluate the efficacy of human adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells (HAMSCs) treatment for the wound healing with patients.

Methods: This study was a clinical trial to investigate the efficacy of human adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells treatment for the wound healing with patients. 346 patients with skin wounds attending the central hospital of Yue Yang were enrolled in the study, setting in the period from January 2016 to January 2021.

Clinical Performance of BAL Metagenomic Next-Generation Sequence and Serum (1,3)-β-D-Glucan for Differential Diagnosis of Pneumonia and Colonisation.

Front Cell Infect Microbiol

January 2022

Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Jinling Hospital, The First School of Clinical Medicine, Southern Medical University, Nanjing, China.

Background: Differentiating infection from colonisation is crucial for appropriate therapy administration. In this study, we evaluated the performance of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BAL) metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) and serum 1,3-β-D-glucan (BDG) tests in differentiating colonisation and infection with

Methods: From January 2018 to March 2021, 47 patients were enrolled in this study at the Hunan Provincial People's Hospital. The final diagnosis was used as a reference, and cases were classified into the pneumonia (PJP) group or the colonisation (PJC) group.
