Background And Objective: Recent evidence suggests that blood-based biomarkers might be useful for Alzheimer's disease (AD). Among them, we intend to investigate whether neurofilament light (NfL) and multimer detection system-oligomeric Aβ (MDS-OAβ) values can be useful in screening, predicting, and monitoring disease progression and how the relationship between NfL and MDS-OAβ values changes.
Methods: Eighty participants with probable AD dementia, 50 with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and 19 with subjective cognitive decline (SCD) underwent baseline and follow-up evaluations of the Mini-Mental Status Examination (MMSE) and both plasma biomarkers.

Background: Splenic arterial embolization (SAE) is an effective intervention for the management of arterial hemorrhage asso-ciated with blunt splenic injury. However, its role and clinical outcomes in pediatric and adolescent patients are unclear. The aim of this study is to assess the role and the clinical outcomes of SAE for blunt splenic injuries in pediatric and adolescent trauma patients.

Introduction: This multicentre, randomised, open-label, and prospective study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of memantine (memantine solution) on speech function in patients with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease (AD) who were already on donepezil therapy.
Methods: Participants were divided into two groups: the drug trial group was administered donepezil + memantine (memantine solution), while the control group was administered only donepezil. Patients in the test group were required to increase the dose of memantine by 5 mg/day per week for the first 4 weeks and were maintained at 20 mg/day until the end of the trial.

Background: The tendency of amyloid-β to form oligomers in the blood as measured with Multimer Detection System-Oligomeric Amyloid-β (MDS-OAβ) is a valuable biomarker for Alzheimer's disease and has been verified with heparin-based plasma. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)-based MDS-OAβ and to develop machine learning algorithms to predict amyloid positron emission tomography (PET) positivity.
Methods: The performance of EDTA-based MDS-OAβ in predicting PET positivity was evaluated in 312 individuals with various machine learning models.

This study aims to compare directed transfer function (DTF), which is an effective connectivity analysis, derived from scalp EEGs between responder and nonresponder groups implanted with vagus-nerve stimulation (VNS). Twelve patients with drug-resistant epilepsy (six responders and six nonresponders) and ten controls were recruited. A good response to VNS was defined as a reduction of ≥50% in seizure frequency compared with the presurgical baseline.

Background: Despite advances in surgical and postoperative care, myocardial injury or infarction (MI) is still a common complication in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG). Several studies that aimed to reduce postoperative myocardial injury, including those investigating statin loading, have been conducted but did not indicate any clear benefits. Evolocumab, a PCSK9 inhibitor, has been reported to lower lipids and prevent ischemic events in various medical conditions.

Mitral regurgitation (MR) is the most common heart disease in small-breed dogs. Mitral repair, which comprise artificial chorda tendineae implantation and mitral annuloplasty, has become the mainstay of treatment in the veterinary field. We report on two small dogs who underwent mitral repair surgery for MR.

Background And Purpose: Cerebral small vessel disease is characterized by progressive cerebral white matter changes (WMCs). This study aimed to compare the effects of cilostazol and aspirin on changes in WMC volume in patients with cerebral small vessel disease.
Methods: In a multicenter, double-blind, randomized controlled trial, participants with moderate or severe WMCs and at least one lacunar infarction detected on brain magnetic resonance imaging were randomly assigned to the cilostazol and aspirin groups in a 1:1 ratio.

Objective: The electrocortical activities associated with the neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPSs) of Alzheimer's disease (AD) were investigated using frequency-domain electroencephalography (EEG) spectral source analysis, and the potential electrocortical indices identified.
Materials And Methods: Scalp EEG data were obtained from 51 patients with AD to investigate the presence of four NPS subdomains, hyperactivity, psychosis, affective symptoms, and apathy. EEG power spectra and the standardized low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography (sLORETA)-localized EEG cortical sources were compared between the groups with and without the four NPS subdomains in eight frequency bands: 1-4, 4-8, 8-10, 10-12, 12-18, 18-20, 20-30, and 30-45 Hz.
