Background: Older prisoners are a minority within the prison population but their numbers are increasing at a greater rate than any other age group. The mental health of younger prisoners has been well researched but this is not the case for older inmates. The aim of this paper is to provide a review of the existing literature on the mental health of older prisoners.

This study evaluated the psychological impact caused by genital warts and whether this altered over time. Eighty-four patients with genital warts and a group of 28 appropriately matched volunteers from the local general population were recruited. The patients were divided into three groups of 28 according to the Health Protection Agency classification codes for genital warts.

We report an interesting case study of a 58-year-old woman who had early onsct dementis which initially presented with marked features of anxiety that masked her cognitive impairment. She was treated for anxiety for about 2 years. Her anxiety symptoms caused hindrance in detecting dementis at the early stage.
