Objective: This study aims to assess whether preoperative hematoma reconstruction and precise volume calculation can improve hematoma evacuation rate in patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage(sICH) undergoing stereotactic aspiration(SA).
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients with sICH who underwent SA from January 2021 to December 2023. Patients were divided into two groups based on the use of 3D Slicer for preoperative hematoma reconstruction and volume calculation.

Introduction: Patients in the neurological intensive care unit (ICU) are at an increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). Anticoagulation is often indicated because deep venous thrombosis (DVT) can develop into pulmonary embolism (PE). However, anticoagulation also increases the risk of intracranial bleeding.

Background: Despite the morbidity and mortality of venous thromboembolism, there is little evidence to guide postpartum thromboprophylaxis in patients at moderate risk. We aimed to assess the feasibility of conducting a double-blind, randomised trial of aspirin versus placebo in postpartum individuals with two or more venous thromboembolism risk factors, mild-to-moderate thrombophilia, or both.
Methods: The pilot PARTUM trial, a multi-national, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, was conducted in seven centres across Canada, France, Ireland, and the Netherlands.

Background: Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is a significant clinical burden for premenopausal individuals treated with anticoagulation for acute venous thromboembolism (VTE). Despite its prevalence, HMB management remains poorly studied, with wide variation in clinical practice.
Objectives: The current study aimed to explore current UK practices in managing HMB in anticoagulated individuals and identify areas requiring clinical research to address disparities.

In this case report, the role of a myocardial bridge of the left anterior descending artery (LAD) and recent use of cannabis in a sudden death of a drug user is discussed, also considering the relevance of histopathological pulmonary findings. A 37-year-old man with a history of drug abuse was found dead in his house. External and autoptic examination were performed, as well as histologic and toxicologic analyses of tissues, organs and body fluids samples.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of the femoral neck system (FNS) compared to four cannulated compression screws (CCSs) for managing Pauwels type III femoral neck fractures in young patients.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on young patients with Pauwels type III femoral neck fractures treated at our hospital from January 2021 to December 2022. Patients were categorized into two groups based on their respective internal fixation methods: the FNS group (32 cases) and the CCSs group (41 cases).

Non-compressible hemostasis and promoting tissue healing are important in soft tissue trauma repair. Inorganic aerogels show superior performance in rapid hemostasis or promoting tissue healing, but simultaneously promoting non-compressive hemostasis and soft tissue healing still remains a challenge. Herein, SiO-based inorganic nanofiber aerogels (M@SiO, M=Ca, Mg, and Sr) were prepared by freeze-drying the mixture of bioactive silicates-deposited SiO nanofibers and SiO sol.

This retrospective study aims to describe the vascular events in the central nervous system (CNS) associated with the acute form of steroid-responsive meningitis-arteritis (SRMA), to compare the clinical features of dogs with and without such complications and to potentially identify predisposing factors for these events. Dogs with a presumptive diagnosis of SRMA visited between 2018 and 2023 with full medical records that underwent neurological examination, blood testing, cervical computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis were included. Thirty-three dogs were included and divided in two groups.

Background: Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is overexpressed in nasopharyngeal carcinoma and suppresses the anti-tumour immune response. Previous studies have shown that adding anti-VEGF treatment to PD-1 inhibition treatment strategies improves tumour response. We aimed to compare the efficacy of pembrolizumab, a PD-1 inhibitor, with or without bevacizumab, a VEGF inhibitor, in nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Introduction And Importance: Uterine arteriovenous malformations (UAVMs) are rare vascular anomalies caused by abnormal connections between uterine arteries and veins. They can lead to severe bleeding, requiring prompt and accurate diagnosis. Historically treated with hysterectomy, transcatheter vascular embolization has emerged as a fertility-sparing alternative.

Subdural hematoma (SDH) is bleeding between the dura mater and the brain surface, often visualized as a crescent-shaped lesion on computed tomography (CT). However, some SDHs can appear as a biconvex hyperdense lesion mimicking an acute epidural hematoma. Encapsulated acute SDH (EASDH), a rare subtype characterized by a fresh hematoma within the subdural fibrous capsule, presents with similar CT findings.

With the advent of the deep learning-based colonoscopy system, the need for a vast amount of high-quality colonoscopy image datasets for training is crucial. However, the generalization ability of deep learning models is challenged by the limited availability of colonoscopy images due to regulatory restrictions and privacy concerns. In this paper, we propose a method for rendering high-fidelity 3D colon models and synthesizing diversified colonoscopy images with abnormalities such as polyps, bleeding, and ulcers, which can be used to train deep learning models.

Background: Patients with nontraumatic subdural hemorrhage often require immediate surgical intervention that may not be available at community hospitals and are therefore transferred to tertiary care centers. This study aims to evaluate the effects of interhospital transfer (IHT) on postoperative complications and outcomes following ntSDH.
Methods: The National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) database was queried for patients treated for ntSDH from January 2014 to January 2020.

Objective: Gliomas are the most common primary tumor in the central nervous system (CNS), with low-grade gliomas (LGG) comprising more than 5 percent of all adult primary CNS tumors. While glioblastoma, the most malignant glioma subtype, is known to present with hemorrhage, LGGs rarely present with hemorrhage. This systematic review investigates LGGs that present as hemorrhage and provides an illustrative case presentation in order to evaluate trends and outcomes for this pathology.

Background & Aims: Hepatic encephalopathy (HE), one of the most serious prognostic factors for mortality in alcohol-related cirrhosis (ALD cirrhosis), is not recorded in Danish healthcare registries. However, treatment of HE with lactulose, the universal first-line treatment, can be identified through data on filled prescriptions. This study aimed to investigate if lactulose can be used as a surrogate marker of HE.

Introduction: Anticoagulant therapy is critical for venous thromboembolism (VTE) management, though bleeding remains a major concern, ranging from mild to fatal events. This study aimed to assess the predictive value of cytokines for major bleeding in patients with acute pulmonary embolism (PE).
Methods: In this prospective, observational study, patients aged ≥ 18 years with acute PE were enrolled from April 2021 to September 2022 and followed for 30 days.
