October 2024

Center of Burn & Plastic and Wound Healing Surgery, Hengyang Medical School, The First Affiliated Hospital, University of South China, Hengyang, China.

Objective: To investigate the role of miR-30a-5p on the proliferation and apoptosis of hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) and whether the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is involved.

Methods: HFSCs derived from the vibrissa of mammary rats were obtained by enzymatic digestion, and subsequently the obtained HFSCs were treated with Lipofectamine 2000 cell transfection and divided into normal cell culture group (control), miR-30a-5p overexpression group (miR-30a-5p mimic), miR-30a-5p empty vector group (miR-NC), miR-30a-5p inhibitor group (in-miR-30a-5p), and in-miR-30a-5p empty vector group (in-miR-NC). After transfection, the cell proliferation and apoptosis rates were examined separately.

Article Synopsis
  • This study evaluates the cost-effectiveness of rimegepant for treating migraines in China, focusing on achieving headache relief within 2 hours after administration.* -
  • Using a decision tree model, the research estimates that rimegepant has an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) of 122,166.07 CNY per quality-adjusted life day (QALD), which is significantly above China's 2023 acceptable threshold of 734.45 CNY per day.* -
  • The findings suggest that rimegepant's current pricing is too high for it to be considered cost-effective, indicating that substantial price reductions are necessary for broader accessibility in migraine treatment.*

Crizotinib-associated renal cysts (CARC) are the development of new renal cysts or pre-existing renal cysts after the treatment with crizotinib. Most CARC disappear after crizotinib is stopped. A few CARC showed aggressive behavior that could go beyond the invasion of the renal cortex into nearby structures, including perirenal space, psoas major muscle, intestine, and abdominal wall.

miRNA has been a research hotspot in recent years and its scope of action is very wide, involving the regulation of cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and other biological behaviors. This study intends to explore the role of miRNA in the lipid metabolism and development of Wilms tumor (WT) by detecting and analyzing the differences in the expression profiles of miRNAs between the tumor and adjacent normal tissue. Gene detection was performed in tumor tissues and adjacent normal tissues of three cases of WT to screen differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs).

Background: Immune-related initiation, progress, metastasis and sensitivity to treatment associated with poor prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). The role of Nucleolar protein interacting with the FHA domain of MKI67 (NIFK) in CRC remained to be investigated. We explore whether NIFK correlates with tumor immune infiltration and plays an important role in CRC patient prognosis.

Hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) triggers tumorigenesis and progression in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Inconsistent findings have been reported on the influence of HIF-1α over-expression on the clinical outcomes of HBV-related HCC. This study aims to clarify the role of HIF-1α overexpression in the tumorigenesis and prognosis of HBV-induced HCC.

Objective: The association between vitamin D deficiency and lipid profiles in adults with overweight or obesity remains unclear and inconsistent. The aim of our study was to determine the relationship between lipid profiles and vitamin D deficiency in the overweight and obese adults.

Methods: Four databases, including PubMed, the Web of Science, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library, were used to identify all studies on vitamin D status and lipid levels, including the serum levels of triglycerides (TGs), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL).

Immune-modulating therapies exhibit abundant promise compared to traditional treatment for osteosarcoma. We aim to establish an immune-related prognostic signatures in osteosarcoma. We identified the differentially expressed genes in osteosarcoma compared with normal controls using the GEO dataset.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a malignant respiratory disease, resulting in a heavy social burden. Epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) resistance and tumor immune microenvironment are important directions in the treatment of LUAD. In this study, we confirmed the role of ADAM metallopeptidase domain 12 (ADAM12) in LUAD development and progression.

Unlabelled: Peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) is a type of highly heterogeneous non-Hodgkin lymphoma with a poor prognosis and lack of effective targeted therapies. Adoptive T-cell therapy has been successfully used in the treatment of B-cell malignancies. We first used adoptive transfer of haploidentical T cells activated by patient-specific neoantigens to treat an elderly patient with refractory angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) in 2017, and the patient achieved long-term complete remission (CR).

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a kind of primary liver cancer that accounts for more than 90% of primary hepatocellular carcinomas. Hyperuricemia is closely related to the development, recurrence, metastasis, and prognosis of cancer. Previous studies have proved that the serum uric acid level can increase the incidence rate and mortality of malignant tumors.

Aims: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), and within a few months of the first outbreak, it was declared a global pandemic by the WHO. The lethal virus SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted through respiratory droplets and enters host cells through angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE-2) receptors. ACE-2 receptors are highly expressed in many tissues, including testes.

Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell (hucMSC) derived exosomes (EXOs) have been investigated as a new treatment for spinal cord injury (SCI) because of their anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, angiogenesis-promoting, and axonal regeneration properties. The CAQK peptide found in the brains of mice and humans after trauma has recently been found to specifically bind to the injured site after SCI. Thus, we developed a nanocarrier system called EXO-C@P based on hucMSC exosomes remodelled by the CRISPR/Cas9 plasmid to control inflammation and modified by the CAQK peptide.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignancies and causes of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Cell proliferation and tumor metastasis as well as chemoresistance are correlated with poor survival of CRC. The interferon regulatory factor 6 (IRF6) is functioned as a tumor suppressor gene in several cancers and is associated with risk of CRC.

Objective: Using model algorithms, we constructed an immune-related long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) risk coefficient model to predict outcomes for patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) to understand the infiltration of tumor immune cells and the sensitivity to immune-targeted drugs.

Methods: Open genes data were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas and The Immunology Database and Analysis Portal, and immune-related lncRNAs were obtained through Pearson correlation analysis. R language software was used to obtain differentially expressed immune-related lncRNAs and immune-related lncRNA pairs.
