Bone mineral density (BMD) is a key indicator for diagnosis and treatment for osteoporosis; the reduction of BMD could increase the risk of osteoporotic fracture. It was very recently found that Piezo1 mediated mechanically evoked responses in bone and further participated in bone formation in mice. Here, we performed cross phenotype meta-analysis for human BMD at lumbar spine (LS), femoral neck (FN), distal radius/forearm (FA) and heel and screened out 14 top SNPs for PIEZO1, these SNPs were overlapped with putative enhancers, DNase-I hypersensitive sites and active promoter flanking regions.

Osteogenic efficiency of pre-vascularization and non-vascularization decalcified bone scaffolds in bone defect repair was investigated. Twenty-one Sprague-Dawley (SD) mice were randomly assigned to three groups, and a bone defect area of ~1.5 cm in length in the thigh bone of the right posterior limbs of each mouse was made.

This study aims to investigate the repair of bone defects with prefabricated vascularized bone grafts and double-labeled bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) in a rat model. BMSCs were separated from rat bone marrow. LTR-CMVpro-RFP and LTR-CMVpro-GFP were transfected into the BMSCs for in vitro and in vivo tracking.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) refers to the damage of spinal cord's structure and function due to a variety of causes. At present, many scholars have confirmed that apoptosis is the main method of secondary injury in spinal cord injury. In view of understanding the function of PI3K/Akt pathway on spinal cord injury, this study observed the temporal variation of key molecules (PI3K, Akt, p-Akt) in the PI3K/Akt pathway after spinal cord injury by immunohistochemistry and Western-blot.

Preliminary animal experiments have confirmed that sensory nerve fibers promote osteoblast differentiation, but motor nerve fibers have no promotion effect. Whether sensory neurons promote the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells remains unclear. No results at the cellular level have been reported.
