The Mechanisms of Cadmium Stress Mitigation by Fungal Endophytes from Maize Grains.

J Fungi (Basel)

August 2024

Faculty of Environmental Science and Engineering, Medical School, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Kunming 650500, China.

Maize is a crucial staple crop that ensures global food security by supplying essential nutrients. However, heavy metal (HM) contamination inhibits maize growth, reduces output, and affects food security. Some endophytic fungi (EFs) in maize seeds have the potential to enhance growth and increase dry biomass, offering a solution to mitigate the negative effect of HM contamination.

Some plant-associated microorganisms could improve host plants biotic and abiotic stress tolerance. is a dominant pioneer plant in some abandoned mine lands with higher concentrations of heavy metal (HM). To discover the specific microbiome of in this extreme environment and evaluate its role, the microbiome of 's seeds and rhizosphere soils from HM heavily contaminated (H) and lightly contaminated (L) sites were studied.

Background: Computed tomography (CT) image integration is of limited use in left ventricular (LV) ablation due to inadequate accuracy of registration. The current study aimed to investigate the accuracy and feasibility of extra-cavity LV image registration via the coronary cusp.

Methods: Consecutive patients were enrolled as the validation group (n = 41) and feasibility group (n = 48).

Myxofibrosarcoma (MFS) is a highly malignant subtype of soft tissue sarcoma, accounting for 5% of cases. Immunotherapy guided by immune cell infiltration (ICI) is reportedly a promising treatment strategy. Here, MFS samples (n = 104) from two independent databases were classified as ICI clusters A/B/C and gene clusters A/B/C.

Mutations in PINK1 and Parkin are a major cause of Parkinson's disease (PD) pathogenesis. In addition, PINK1 and Parkin are two mitochondrial proteins that jointly contribute to mitochondrial homeostasis via mitophagy. Mitochondrial dysfunction is the most significant mechanism underlying PD pathogenesis.

Neural stem cells (NSCs) may offer beneficeial and promising adjuncts for treatment of neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD) and spinal cord injuries. Previous studies showed that LncRNA FER1L4 plays crucial roles in many biological procedures such as invasion, metabolism, apoptosis, and stem cell differentiation. However, the role of FER1L4 in differentiation and growth of NSCs remains unknown.

Emerging studies have proved that tRNA-derived fragments (tRFs) play vital roles in tumor metastasis; however, the function of tRFs in gastric cancer (GC) remains largely unclear. We investigated the role of tRF-24-V29K9UV3IU in growth and metastasis of GC using a xenograft mouse model. Differential gene expression downstream of tRF-24-V29K9UV3IU was identified by transcriptome sequencing, and interaction was then verified by a dual luciferase reporter and RNA immunoprecipitation.

We aim to explore the relationship between early-onset diabetes and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with microalbuminuria.A total of 461 T2DM patients with microalbuminuria were enrolled. Subjects were defined as early-onset or late-onset based on the age at which they were diagnosed with diabetes (<40 and ≥40 years, respectively).

Study Question: What is the relationship between pre-pregnancy maternal glucose levels and fecundability in Chinese couples?

Summary Answer: Elevated pre-pregnancy maternal glucose levels were associated with fecundability, as reflected by prolonged time to pregnancy (TTP) among the couples with no prior gravidity.

Study Design, Size, Duration: Based on the National Free Pre-conception Check-up Projects supported by the Chinese government, 2 226 048 eligible couples attempting first pregnancy and participating in the project from 2015 to 2016 were included. They were followed-up for 1 year or until they reported pregnancy.

The relationship between females with low glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity level (LG6PD) and HBV infection is unclear. We conducted a cross sectional study of 124 406 reproductive-age Chinese females who participated in the National Free Pre-conception Check-up Projects to investigate the risk of HBV infection among females with LG6PD and its effect on liver enzyme. Based on HBV serological test results, the participants were divided into the susceptible, immunized, and HBV infected groups.

Long non-coding RNA Hotair promotes gastric cancer progression via miR-217-GPC5 axis.

Life Sci

January 2019

Department of Gastroenterology, The Affiliated YanAn Hospital of Kunming Medical University, Kunming, 650051, Yunnan, China; Key Laboratory of Tumor Immunological Prevention and Treatment of Yunnan Province, China. Electronic address:

Aims: The oncogenic role of lncRNA Hotair has been acknowledged in subset of malignancies, including gastric cancer (GC). However, the detailed molecular mechanisms that contribute to its oncogenic role of are largely elusive. This study was designed to explore the underlying mechanism that contributes the regulatory role of Hotair in GC pathogenesis and progression.

The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effects and mechanism of isovitexin, a glycosylflavonoid isolated from rice hulls of Oryza sativa, on Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)/d-galactosamine (D-Gal)-induced acute liver injury. The mice were randomly divided into five groups: control group, LPS/D-Gal group, and LPS/D-Gal + isovitexin groups. The mice of LPS/D-Gal group were received of LPS (50 μg/kg) and D-gal (800 mg/kg) intraperitoneal.

Crytotanshinone (CTN), one of the main constituents of Salvia miltiorrhiza, has been known to exhibit antioxdative, anti-inflammatory and other important therapeutic activities. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of CTN on prostaglandin E2 and COX-2 production in LPS-stimulated human intestinal cells (Caco-2 cells). Caco-2 cells were stimulated with LPS in the presence or absence of CTN.

World J Gastroenterol

January 2015

Hui Wang, Xiao-Lin Dong, Xiao-Ming Yu, Kyu Sung Chung, Jian-Peng Gao, Department of Gastroenterology, The Affiliated YanAn Hospital of Kunming Medical University, Kunming 650051, Yunnan Province, China.

Paratyphoid fever can be complicated by massive lower gastrointestinal bleeding with ileocolonic ulcerations, which are commonly localized using colonoscopy. The most common manifestations include multiple, variable-sized, round or oval-shaped, punched-out ulcers. Occasionally, massive lower gastrointestinal bleeding can occur from erosion of blood vessels.
