Objective: The study explores the application value of three-dimensional arterial spin labeling magnetic resonance imaging (3D pCASL) in early assessment of radiation encephalopathy (REP) in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 39 cases of NPC was performed. Routine enhanced MRI scan and 3D pCASL imaging were used to examine the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and brain blood flow (CBF) before and after treatment with intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT).

This study aimed to compare the effects of long-term ZEN exposure on the overall biochemical landscape of the "gut-blood-liver axis" under normal diet and high-fat diet (HFD) using a combined multi-omics approach.

Participants completed the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale (CES-D) and 24 h dietary recall.

Background: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides (nt) that are involved in the pathogenesis and development of various cancers including B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). To determine the potential roles of lncRNAs involved in pathogenesis of B-ALL, we analyzed the expression profile of lncRNAs and mRNAs in B-ALL, respectively, and constructed lncRNAs/mRNAs interaction network.

Methods: We performed RNA sequencing of 10 non-leukemic blood disease donors and 10 B-ALL patients for Gene Ontology (GO) and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis.

Intensive aquaculture often results in immunosuppression in fish, which may cause a series of diseases. In this study, to investigate the immunosuppressive mechanisms in fish, tilapia were intrapleural injected cyclophosphamide (CTX) at the doses of 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100 mg·kg to induce immunosuppression. We determined the viability of immune cells, the content of lysozyme (LZM) and immunoglobulin M (IgM), the levels of nitric oxide (NO) and antioxidant parameters.

Phytoestrogens for the Management of Endometriosis: Findings and Issues.

Endometriosis, a chronic disease characterized by recurrent pelvic pain and infertility, severely impacts the health and life quality of many women worldwide. Since phytoestrogens are commonly found in a variety of foods, and estrogen is a major pathological factor for the pathogenesis of endometriosis, their possible involvement cannot be ignored. This review summarizes data on the relationship between phytoestrogen intake and endometriosis risk, and analyzes the findings from in vitro experiments, rodent endometriotic models, and human intervention trials.

Pyroptosis in the Initiation and Progression of Atherosclerosis.

Pyroptosis, a newly discovered form of programmed cell death, is characterized by cell swelling, the protrusion of large bubbles from the plasma membrane and cell lysis. This death pathway is mediated by the pore formation of gasdermin D (GSDMD), which is activated by human caspase-1/caspase-4/caspase-5 (or mouse caspase-1/caspase11), and followed with the releasing of both cell contents and proinflammatory cytokines. Pyroptosis was initially found to function as an innate immune effector mechanism to facilitate host defense against pathogenic microorganisms, and subsequent studies revealed that pyroptosis also plays an eventful role in inflammatory immune diseases and tumor resistance.

Changes in bioactive proteins and serum proteome of human milk under different frozen storage.

This study aimed to investigate changes in macronutrients, total bacterial count, and serum proteome of human milk (HM) under different frozen storage (-18°C and -60°C, 60 d and 180 d) by using IBT Labeling proteomics techniques and ELISA kit. The results indicated that total protein concentrations and total aerobic bacterial counts were significantly decreased at -18°C, while no difference at -60°C. A total of 1617 proteins were identified and quantified, and 173 proteins were significantly different.
