We gathered articles published up to February 21, 2021, that analyzed the relationship between LNM and mixed-type EGC from Embase, PubMed, and Web of Science.

Purpose: To investigate the influence of preoperative adjunctive anti-VEGF drug (Conbercept) on vitreous inflammatory cytokines and chemokines profiles and whether those cytokines were associated with early macular edema (ME) after surgery for patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR).

Methods: In this analysis of the CONCEPT clinical trial, subjects with PDR underwent vitrectomy were included and vitreous samples were collected at the start of vitrectomy. Levels of vitreous VEGF, 17 inflammatory cytokines, and 11 chemokines were measured using Luminex multiplex technology.

Carbon Monoxide Protects Neural Stem Cells Against Iron Overload by Modulating the Crosstalk Between Nrf2 and NF-κB Signaling.

Although accumulating evidences have demonstrated pro-survival effects of CO against various insults, the precise mechanism explaining how neural stem cells (NSCs) are protected by CO also remains largely unknown. Here we report CO pro-survival effect on NSCs against iron overload was comparable to that obtained with pharmacological inhibitors of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Its pro-survival effect was accompanied by the inhibition of ROS and subsequent inhibition of NF-κB which is mediated through nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), in that activation of Nrf2 by CO inhibited ROS via up-regulation of NQO-1 while down-regulation of Nrf2 reversed the pro-survival effect of CO both in vitro and in vivo.

Purpose: To study the topographical relationship between acute macular neuroretinopathy (AMN) lesions and the choroidal watershed zone (CWZ) or patchy choroidal filling (PCF) using multimodal imaging.

Methods: Lesions in patients diagnosed with AMN were clinically examined using multimodal imaging, including fundus photography, near-infrared reflectance imaging, spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT), fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography, OCT angiography, and microperimetry. The topographical relationship between AMN and the CWZ or PCF was evaluated.

Background: To assess confocal microscopy features of corneal sub-basal nerve plexus in patients with congenital or aponeurogenic blepharoptosis using a fully automated software (ACCMetrics).

Patients And Methods: This prospective study included 33 patients with blepharoptosis and 17 normal controls. The corneal sub-basal nerve plexus was assessed using confocal microscopy, and the ocular surface status was evaluated by tear break-up times.

Association of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease with kidney disease.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is characterized by the accumulation of fat in more than 5% of hepatocytes in the absence of excessive alcohol consumption and other secondary causes of hepatic steatosis. In 2020, the more inclusive term metabolic (dysfunction)-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) - defined by broader diagnostic criteria - was proposed to replace the term NAFLD. The new terminology and revised definition better emphasize the pathogenic role of metabolic dysfunction and uses a set of definitive, inclusive criteria for diagnosis.

Prednisolone (PN) is a glucocorticoid (GC) analog that is clinically used to treat allergic inflammation and autoimmune diseases. However, the long-term use of GC-like drugs results in many side effects, among which sleep disorders caused by PN have attracted much attention. Many studies have showed that GCs indirectly cause sleep disorders by disrupting the circadian rhythm of the peripheral biological clock.

5-Hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde induces developmental toxicology and decreases bone mineralization in zebrafish larvae.

In this study, we aimed to assess the developmental toxicity and effects of 5-HMF in zebrafish as a model organism for toxicology studies. To this end, we treated zebrafish embryos with 1-100 μg/ml 5-HMF and observed bone staining, gene expression, and reactive oxygen species levels in order to investigate the toxicological effects of 5-HMF. The results showed that high concentrations of 5-HMF caused increased mortality and deformity rates in zebrafish larvae, inhibited cartilage development, reduced bone mineralization, increased reactive oxygen species levels, and disrupted the expression of genes related to bone development and reactive oxygen species enzyme activity.

Crab lice infestation in unilateral eyelashes and adjacent eyelids: A case report.

Background: Crab lice () infestation can occur at any age, to either males or females, and across all regions of the world. However, cases involving the eyelashes and adjacent eyelids (phthiriasis palpebrarum) are rare. Usually occurring as a sexually transmitted disease, crab lice can be spread by poor hygiene or in a dirty environment through direct contact with contaminated skin (hands) or textiles (towels and clothing).
