The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is one of the largest organelles, and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Response Pathway is a series of responses triggered by the homeostatic imbalance of the ER and the state in which unfolded or misfolded proteins accumulate in the ER, which can trigger cell death. Cell death plays a crucial role in the development of diseases such as gynecological oncology. Herein, we review the current research on the response and ovarian cancer, discussing the key sensors (IRE1, PERK, ATF6), and the conditions under which it occurs (Ca homeostasis disruption, hypoxia, others).

Background: Immunotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors combined with an anti-angiogenic tyrosine-kinase inhibitor (TKI) has been shown to improve overall survival versus anti-angiogenic therapy alone in advanced solid tumours, but not in hepatocellular carcinoma. Therefore, a clinical study was conducted to compare the efficacy and safety of the anti-PD-1 antibody camrelizumab plus the VEGFR2-targeted TKI rivoceranib (also known as apatinib) versus sorafenib as first-line treatment for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma.
Methods: This randomised, open-label, international phase 3 trial (CARES-310) was done at 95 study sites across 13 countries and regions worldwide.

Gastric cancer (GAS) is one of the malignant tumors of the gastrointestinal system. Alterations in metabolite composition can reflect pathological processes of GAS and constitute a basis for diagnosis and treatment improvements. In this study, a total of 301 serum samples from 150 GAS patients at different tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stages and 151 healthy controls were collected.

Purpose: During the radiation treatment planning process, one of the time-consuming procedures is the final high-resolution dose calculation, which obstacles the wide application of the emerging online adaptive radiotherapy techniques (OLART). There is an urgent desire for highly accurate and efficient dose calculation methods. This study aims to develop a dose super resolution-based deep learning model for fast and accurate dose prediction in clinical practice.

Lysine-specific demethylase 5B (KDM5B) exerts its tumor-promoting functions in numerous malignancies, although the possible mechanisms by which KDM5B promotes cancer aggressiveness in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been preliminarily explored, the role of this gene in regulating sorafenib-resistance in HCC has not been studied. Thus, the present study was designed to resolve this problem, and our data suggested that KDM5B was significantly upregulated in the HCC tissues collected from patients with sorafenib treatment history. Consistently, continuous low-dose sorafenib administration increased KDM5B expression levels in the sorafenib-resistant HCC cells compared to their sorafenib-sensitive counterparts.

Background: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the most prevalent types of upper gastrointestinal malignancies. This work aimed to identify potential biomarkers for early screening for ESCC and characterize the systemic metabolic disturbances underlying ESCC using multi-platform metabolomics analysis.
Methods: We divided 239 patients (the early-stage ESCC patients, n = 132; Healthy controls, n = 107) into discovery and validation sets after matching age and sex.

Background: Pazopanib was recommended as first-line treatment option for Metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC), while evidence from strictly selected patients has poor external validity and clinical characteristics are complex in real-world clinical practice. This study aimed to illustrate the survival benefits and safety of pazopanib monotherapy using real-world data of mRCC patients.
Methods: This was a retrospective, multicenter, cohort study.

Objective: The study conducted a multicenter study in China to explore the learning curve of contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) for sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs), the feasibility of using this technique for the localization of SLNs and lymphatic channels (LCs) and its diagnostic performance for lymph node metastasis.
Method: Nine hundred two patients with early invasive breast cancer from six tertiary class hospitals in China were enrolled between December 2016 and December 2019. Each patient received general ultrasound scanning and SLN-CEUS before surgery.

Background: Epidemiological studies have confirmed that abnormal circadian rhythms are associated with tumorigenesis in breast cancer. However, few studies have investigated the pathological roles of rhythm genes in breast cancer progression. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the aberrant expression of 32 rhythm genes in breast cancer and detect the pathological roles and molecular mechanisms of the altered rhythm gene in regulating the progression of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC).

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disease that increases the risk of infertility. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play important roles in regulating the biological processes of PCOS. Our study was designed to explore the function of circ-FURIN in PCOS.

Since the discovery of microRNAs (miRNAs) as a class of important regulatory molecules, miRNAs are involved in the occurrence and development of tumors. In this paper, we aimed to identify the role of miR-1274a in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The miR-1274a expression levels in four NSCLC cells and tissues from 125 patients were determined by qRT-PCR assays.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common type of malignant tumor in the kidney. With numbers of patients whose physical condition or tumor stage not suitable for radical surgery, they only have a narrow choice of using VEGF/mTOR targeted drugs to control their tumors, but ccRCC often shows resistance to these drugs. Therefore, identifying a new therapeutic target is of urgent necessity.

Background: Several clinical studies of vascular endothelial growth factor/vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGF/VEGFR) therapy as a second-line treatment for biliary tract cancer (BTC) have shown modest efficacy. In this study, surufatinib was evaluated as a second-line VEGFR therapy in patients with BTC.
Methods: This was a single-arm, multicenter, open-label phase 2 study conducted in China.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is usually diagnosed at late stages, making it the second cause of malignancy-related death across the world. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are of significance to tumorigenesis, highly suggestive of their functional roles as novel biomarkers for cancer therapy. The current study investigated the specific role of lncRNA TPTE pseudogene 1 (TPTEP1) in HCC.

Introduction: The standard chemotherapy for squamous NSCLC (sqNSCLC) includes platinum plus gemcitabine. Sintilimab, an anti-programmed cell death protein 1 antibody, plus platinum and gemcitabine (GP) has revealed encouraging efficacy as first-line therapy for sqNSCLC in a phase 1b study. We conducted a randomized, double-blind, phase 3 study to further compare the efficacy and safety of sintilimab with placebo, both in combination with GP.

We collected 170 samples of airborne fine particulate matter from five coal-producing cities and one oil-producing city in northern China during both heating and non-heating periods to quantify the concentrations of 12 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, estimate their bioaccessible fraction, and calculate the incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) of this fraction. The major sources of the particulate matter were analyzed using the chemical mass balance model. We found that the main emission sources were coal combustion during the heating period and open sources during the non-heating period.
