[Clinical efficacy observation of electroacupuncture based on the "ascending lucidity and descending turbidity" theory： a study of gut microbiota in patients with diabetic gastrointestinal dysfunction].

Objectives: To explore the efficacy of electroacupuncture (EA) based on the "ascending lucidity and descending turbidity" theory in patients with diabetic gastrointestinal dysfunction and its regulatory effect on gut microbiota.

Methods: A total of 48 patients with diabetic gastrointestinal dysfunction were randomly divided into the EA group (24 cases, 3 cases dropped-off) and the control group (24 cases, no dropped off). Both groups received blood glucose control and basic symptomatic treatment.

CDGT: Constructing diverse graph transformers for emotion recognition from facial videos.

Recognizing expressions from dynamic facial videos can find more natural affect states of humans, and it becomes a more challenging task in real-world scenes due to pose variations of face, partial occlusions and subtle dynamic changes of emotion sequences. Existing transformer-based methods often focus on self-attention to model the global relations among spatial features or temporal features, which cannot well focus on important expression-related locality structures from both spatial and temporal features for the in-the-wild expression videos. To this end, we incorporate diverse graph structures into transformers and propose a CDGT method to construct diverse graph transformers for efficient emotion recognition from in-the-wild videos.

Guidelines for the clinical application of the pill for the prevention and treatment of breast hyperplasia diseases.

Context: The Xihuang pill (XHP) is a traditional Chinese medicine formulation that has been historically used in the prevention and treatment of proliferative breast diseases. However, there is a lack of guidelines that offer recommendations for its clinical use.

Objective: The task force from the Chinese Guangdong Pharmaceutical Association aims to develop evidence-based guidelines for XHP to prevent and treat proliferative breast diseases.

HuaChanSu (HCS) or Cinobufacini injection is an aqueous extract of the dried skin of Bufo bufo gargarigans, and has anti-tumor effects. The aim of this study was to evaluate the possible therapeutic effect of HCS against breast cancer (BRCA) using cytology, network pharmacology, and molecular biology approaches. The half-inhibitory concentration (IC50) of HCS in the BRCA cells was determined by cytotoxicity assay, and were accordingly treated with high and low doses HCS in the TUNEL and scratch assays.

Effect of electroacupuncture on behavior and hippocampal inflammatory factors in rats with chronic fatigue syndrome.

Objectives: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the changes of behavior and hippocampal inflammatory factors in rats with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), so as to explore its possible mechanisms in the treatment of CFS.

Methods: Twenty-seven SD rats were randomly divided into control, model and electroacupuncture (EA) groups (=9 rats in each group). The CFS model was established by multi-factor compound stress stimulation method.

Aversive stimuli activate corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF)-expressing neurons in the paraventricular nucleus of hypothalamus (PVN neurons) and other brain stress systems to facilitate avoidance behaviors. Appetitive stimuli also engage the brain stress systems, but their contributions to reward-related behaviors are less well understood. Here, we show that mice work vigorously to optically activate PVN neurons in an operant chamber, indicating a reinforcing nature of these neurons.

Interventional chemoembolization for the treatment of severe ulcerative bleeding caused by advanced breast cancer: A report of two cases.

Pyroptosis is closely involved in the pathopoiesis of cerebral ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) injury which seriously dangers human's life. Studies report that tangeretin (TANG), which is enriched in the peel of Citrus reticulata, has neuroprotective effects. Here, we explored whether absent in melanoma 2 (AIM2) inflammasome-mediated pyroptosis is involved in the cerebral I/R injury and the protective mechanism of TANG against cerebral I/R injury.

Dexmedetomidine relieves inflammatory pain by enhancing GABAergic synaptic activity in pyramidal neurons of the anterior cingulate cortex.

Pyramidal neuron (Pyn) hyperactivity in the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) is involved in the modulation of pain. Previous studies indicate that the activation of α2 adrenoceptors (α2-ARs) by dexmedetomidine (DEX) is a safe and effective means of alleviating multiple types of pain. Here, we showed that systemically administered DEX can ameliorate the inflammatory pain induced by hindpaw injection of formalin (FA) and further examined the molecular and synaptic mechanisms of this DEX-elicited antinociceptive effect.

Histidine Metabolic Pathway Contributes to Clozapine-Induced Sialorrhea Based on Nontargeted Metabolomics.

Introduction: Clozapine-induced sialorrhea (CIS) is one of the most common side effects of clozapine use, while the mechanism remains unclear.

Methods: A total of 51 schizophrenia patients taking clozapine were selected. Among them, 32 had sialorrhea, and 19 had no sialorrhea.

Purpose: Glaucoma is a leading cause of global irreversible blindness, and characterized by the progressive loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs). Ligustrazine (TMP) is a natural product that has shown beneficial effects on various diseases. This study aimed to determine whether ligustrazine produces a therapeutic effect on glaucoma and to investigate its underlying mechanisms.

Ligustrazine induces viability, suppresses apoptosis and autophagy of retinal ganglion cells with ischemia/reperfusion injury through the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway.
