There is still a lack of high-quality evidence-based studies on the efficacy of drug treatment for glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP). The purpose of this umbrella review is to comprehensively evaluate the existing evidence to determine the efficacy and safety of pharmacological interventions for GIOP. We searched PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library for systematic reviews and/or meta-analyses (SRs) of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) aimed at evaluating drug therapy for GIOP.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is a common urological malignancy with diverse histological types. This study aimed to detect neoantigens in ccRCC to develop mRNA vaccines and distinguish between ccRCC immunological subtypes for construction of an immune landscape to select patients suitable for vaccination. Using The Cancer Genome Atlas SpliceSeq database, The Cancer Genome Atlas, and the International Cancer Genome Consortium cohorts, we comprehensively analysed potential tumour antigens of ccRCC associated with aberrant alternative splicing, somatic mutation, nonsense-mediated mRNA decay factors, antigen-presenting cells, and overall survival.

School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province 510006, China; Key Laboratory of Chinese Medicinal Resource from Lingnan, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province 510006, China. Electronic address:

Chinese medicinal herbal residues (CMHRs) are waste generated after extracting Chinese medicinal materials, and they can be used as a renewable bioresource. This study aimed to evaluate the potential of aerobic composting (AC), anaerobic digestion (AD), and aerobic-anaerobic coupling composting (AACC) for the treatment of CMHRs. CMHRs were mixed with sheep manure and biochar, and composted separately under AC, AD, and AACC conditions for 42 days.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effects of combined electroacupuncture therapy (TNEA) on neurodegenerative processes in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease (AD) by focusing on autophagy and NLRP3 inflammasome activation.
  • Results show that TNEA can reduce the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and the release of a pro-inflammatory cytokine, IL1B, in the brains of these mice.
  • The therapy promotes autophagy by activating the transcription factors TFEB and TFE3, suggesting that TNEA could enhance memory and help combat cognitive impairment associated with AD.

Atherosclerosis (AS) is an inflammatory disease, whose occurrence and development mechanism is related to a great number of inflammatory cytokines. -sitosterol (BS), a natural compound extracted from numerous vegetables and plant medicines, has been suggested to improve AS, but the underlying mechanism remains vague. This work focused on investigating how BS affected the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and further exploring the potential targets and mechanisms through network pharmacology (NP) and molecular docking (MD).

Introduction: Traditional Chinese exercises have become an important part of cardiac rehabilitation. It can coordinate the essence, qi, and spirit of the human body, and has the functions of promoting joints, stretching muscles and bones, ventilating and blood circulation, so as to achieve the balance between hardness and softness, and between yin and yang. We hope that the research results based on systematic review and meta-analysis will provide a theoretical basis for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF) with traditional Chinese exercise.

November 2022

GuangDong Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Research Team of Bio-molecular and System Biology of Chinese Medicine, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou, China.

NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) is one of the most common and lethal malignant tumors, with low 5-year overall survival rate. Curcumol showed antitumor activity in several cancers, but evidence about its effect on NSCLC remains unclear. In the present study, we found that Curcumol markedly inhibited NSCLC cells proliferation, migration and invasion.

Background: Village doctors (VDs) in China undertook arduous primary healthcare missions. However, they received little attention in comparison to doctors in urban public secondary and tertiary hospitals. There is an urgent need to explore the overall situation of turnover intention and job burnout among VDs to evaluate and adjust current health manpower policy.

We investigated the acupoint selection regulations and workable core acupoint combinations in cancer-related anorexia (CA) treatment. The Apriori algorithm, complemented by the FP-growth algorithm, was used to mine association rules based on retrieved randomized control trials (RCTs) and clinical control trials (CCTs). We searched the following databases for acupuncture treatment regimens for CA: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Central, Web of Science, WanFang Data, VIP, China Journal Full-Text Database (CNKI), and SinoMed (CBM).

Background: Previous studies have shown that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a key role in cancer, including colon cancer (CC). However, the exact role of long noncoding RNA 01124 (LINC01124) in CC and its mechanisms of action remain unknown. In this study, we investigated the functional effects and the possible mechanism of LINC01124 in CC.

Numerous tissue regeneration paradigms show evident neurological dependence, including mammalian fingertip, skin, and bone regeneration. The mature skeleton is innervated by an abundant nervous system that infiltrates the developing axial and appendicular bones and maintains the stability of the systemic skeletal system by controlling blood flow, regulating bone metabolism, secreting neurotransmitters, and regulating stem cell behavior. In recent years, neurotization in tissue-engineered bone has been considered as a promising strategy to effectively overcome the challenge of vascularization and innervation regeneration in the central zone of "critical-sized bone defects" that conventional tissue-engineered scaffolds are unable to handle, however, further validation is needed in relevant clinical applications.

Carbohydr Polym

September 2022

School of Biomedical Engineering; State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou 510006, China. Electronic address:

The use of cisplatin is restricted by systemic toxicity and drug resistance. Supramolecular nano-drug delivery systems involving drugs as building blocks circumvent these limitations promisingly. Herein, we describe a novel supramolecular system [Pt(IV)-SSNPs] based on poly(β-cyclodextrin), which was synthesized for efficient loading of adamantly-functionalized platinum(IV) prodrug [Pt(IV)-ADA] via the host-guest interaction between β-cyclodextrin and adamantyl.
