Circadian rhythm serves an essential role in numerous physiological functions. Circadian oscillations are organized by circadian clock components at the molecular level. The precision of the circadian clock is controlled by transcriptional-translational negative feedback loops, as well as post-translational modifications of clock proteins, including ubiquitination; however, the influence of E3 ligases on clock protein ubiquitination requires further investigation.

The present study aimed to determine whether apelin-13 could attenuate cardiac fibrosis via inhibiting the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B (PI3K/Akt) pathway to inhibit reactive oxygen species in heart failure (HF) rats. HF models were established by inducing ischemia myocardial infarction (MI) through ligation of the left anterior descending artery in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. MI-induced changes in hemodynamics and cardiac function were reversed by apelin-13 administration.

Volatile anesthetics may protect the heart against ischemia‑reperfusion injury via the direct action on mitochondrial complexes and by regulating the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Recently, we reported that isoflurane induced the attenuation of mitochondrial respiration caused by complex I substrates. This process was not associated with endogenous production of mitochondrial nitric oxide (NO).

Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a common type of injury, and about half of patients affected by SCI will suffer from neuropathic pain within a year after injury. However, the treatment effect of neuropathic pain is far from satisfactory. Our study attempted to reveal whether salvianolic acid B (SalB) could relieve the neuropathic pain caused by SCI in mice by inhibiting the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/Myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) pathway.
