Background And Aims: Although existing evidence suggests that arterial stiffness and obesity impact cardiovascular health, limited studies have been conducted to explore the association between brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), obesity-related indices, and the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).
Methods And Results: The study participants were among those who completed the baPWV measurement at the second follow-up examination (during 2018-2020) of the Rural Chinese Cohort Study. Logistic regression models were employed to calculate odds ratios (ORs) and 95 % confidence intervals (CIs) of the 10-year incident risk score of ASCVD associated with baPWV and obesity-related indices.

Aims: This study aimed to identify the distinct change trajectories of the Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI) over time and to investigate their associations with risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Materials And Methods: This study included 52 394 participants from the prospective project, the Prediction for Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk in China (China-PAR). The CVAI was calculated using measures of age, body mass index, waist circumference, triglycerides and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol.

Introduction: With the growing prevalence of anxiety symptoms among university students, self-control is an important potential influence. This study aims to understand the network structure of self-control and anxiety, and to identify the core symptoms within this network. It will provide a theoretical basis for the prevention and intervention of anxiety symptoms in university students.

Background: The hesitation of healthcare professionals towards vaccines is becoming increasingly concerning, potentially undermining public confidence in vaccination programs. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between social responsibility, Prosocial tendency, and vaccine hesitancy among Chinese doctors, and to identify demographic factors associated with vaccine hesitancy.
Method: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 976 Chinese doctors.

Background And Aims: Few researchers have compared the effectiveness of traditional and novel obesity indicators in predicting stroke incidence. We aimed to evaluate the associations between six obesity indices and stroke risk, and to further identify the optimal indicator.
Methods And Results: A total of 14,539 individuals from the Rural Chinese Cohort Study were included in the analyses.

Background: It has been proposed that inflammation plays a role in the development of sarcopenia. This study aimed to investigate the links of complete blood cell count (CBC) parameters and CBC-derived inflammatory indicators with sarcopenia and mortality.
Methods: Data pertaining to sarcopenia were extracted from the 1999-2006 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), and mortality events were ascertained through the National Death Index up to December 31, 2019.

Our aim was to examine the independent and joint associations of estimated cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) and its changes and obesity with risk of hypertension in a rural Chinese population. A prospective cohort including 9848 adults without hypertension at baseline was enrolled. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were estimated by logistic regression models.

While noise pollution from transportation has become an important public health problem, the relationships between different sources of traffic noise and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain inconclusive. A comprehensive meta-analysis was therefore conducted to quantitatively assess the effects of long-term exposure to road traffic, railway, and aircraft noise on CVDs and relevant subtypes. We systematically retrieved PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science for articles published before April 4, 2022.

Aberrant DNA methylation is a critical regulator of gene expression in the development and progression of glioblastoma (GBM). However, the impact of methylation-driven gene PCDHB4 changes on GBM occurrence and progression remains unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the PCDHB4 gene for early diagnosis and prognostic evaluation and clarify its functional role in GBM.

Purpose: Cuproptosis, a novel programmed cell death, plays an important role in glioma growth, angiogenesis, and immune response. Nonetheless, the role of cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs) in the prognosis and tumor microenvironment (TME) of gliomas remains unknown.
Methods: By non-negative matrix factorization consensus clustering, 1286 glioma patients were classified based on the mRNA expression levels of 27 CRGs and investigated the association of immune infiltration and clinical characteristics with cuproptosis subtypes.

We sought to explore the association between heavy metal exposure and coronary heart disease (CHD) based on data from the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES, 2003-2018). In the analyses, participants were all aged > 20 and had participated in heavy metal sub-tests with valid CHD status. The Mann-Kendall test was employed to assess the trends in heavy metals' exposure and the trends in CHD prevalence over 16 years.

Several epidemiological studies have investigated the association between sugar intake, the levels of systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and the risk of hypertension, but findings have been inconsistent. We carried out a systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies to examine the associations between sugar intake, hypertension risk, and BP levels. Articles published up to February 2, 2021 were sourced through PubMed, EMBASE and Web of Science.

Alcohol consumption remains inconsistently correlated with fracture risk, and a dose-response meta-analysis for specific outcomes is lacking. The objective of this study was to quantitatively integrate the data on the relationship between alcohol consumption and fracture risk. Pertinent articles were identified in PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases up to 20 February 2022.

We aimed to investigate the association of metabolic obesity phenotypes with all-cause mortality risk in a rural Chinese population. This prospective cohort study enrolled 15 704 Chinese adults (38·86 % men) with a median age of 51·00 (interquartile range: 41·00-60·00) at baseline (2007-2008) and followed up during 2013-2014. Obesity was defined by waist circumference (WC: ≥ 90 cm for men and ≥ 80 cm for women) or waist-to-height ratio (WHtR: ≥ 0·5).

: Previous meta-analyses included abundant cross-sectional studies, and/or only assessed high low categories of UPF consumption. We conducted this meta-analysis based on prospective cohort studies to estimate the dose-response associations of UPF consumption with the risk of cardiovascular events (CVEs) and all-cause mortality among general adults. : PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science were searched for relevant articles published up to August 17, 2021, and newly published articles between August 17, 2021 and July 21, 2022 were re-searched.

Aim: To investigate the association of remnant cholesterol (RC) with future type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) risk, and to assess the underlying impact of some recognized risk factors on it.
Methods: A total of 11468 nondiabetic adults in rural China were recruited in 2007-2008 and followed up in 2013-2014. Logistic regression was used to assess the risk of incident T2DM by quartiles of baseline RC, estimating odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).

To examine the independent and joint associations of dietary inflammation index (DII) and physical activity (PA) with mortality risk. We analyzed data for 20,165 study participants aged ≥ 18 from The Rural Chinese Cohort Study. The Cox proportional hazard model was used to calculate the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) of mortality associated with DII and PA.
