Intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) causes numerous neurological deficits and deaths worldwide each year, leaving a significant health burden on the public. The pathophysiology of ICH is complicated, and involves both primary and secondary injury. Hematoma, as the prime pathology of ICH, undergoes metabolism and triggers biochemical and biomechanical alterations in the brain, leading to secondary injury.

A novel H-shaped miniplate (HSM) was specifically designed for restorative laminoplasties to restore patients' posterior elements after laminectomies. A validated finite element (FE) model of L2/4 was utilized to create a laminectomy model, as well as three restorative laminoplasty models based on the fixation of different miniplates after a laminectomy (the RL-HSM model, the RL-LSM model, and the RL-THM model). The biomechanical effects of motion and displacement on a laminectomy and restorative laminoplasty with three different shapes for the fixation of miniplates were compared under the same mechanical conditions.

Purpose: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a very common malignancy of the digestive system. Despite a variety of treatments including surgery, chemotherapeutic and targeted drugs, the prognosis for patients with CRC is still unsatisfactory and the mortality remains high. Protein phosphorylation plays an essential role in tumorigenesis and progression and is also crucial for protein to act with proper functions.

Magnesium phosphate bone cement (MPC) has gained widespread usage in orthopedic implantation due to its fast-setting and high initial strength benefits. However, the simultaneous attainment of drug-controlled release and osteogenic potential in MPC remains a significant challenge. Herein, a strategy to create a smart injectable cement system using nanocontainers and chondroitin sulfate is proposed.

Periprosthetic osteolysis (PPO) caused by wear particles is one of the leading causes of implant failure after arthroplasty. Macrophage polarization imbalance and subsequent osteogenic inhibition play a crucial role in PPO. Calycosin (CA) is a compound with anti-inflammatory and osteoprotective properties.

Background: Patients with gastric cancer (GC) are more likely to experience malnutrition and muscle wasting. This study aims to investigate the potential of phase angle (PhA) as a screening tool for identifying malnutrition and sarcopenia in GC patients, as well as its association with short-term outcomes after radical gastrectomy.
Methods: This cross-sectional study enrolled patients diagnosed with GC at The Affiliated People's Hospital of Jiangsu University from October 2021 to September 2022.

Self-healing coatings improve the durability of magnesium (Mg) implants, but rapid corrosion still poses a challenge in the healing stage. Moreover, Mg-based materials with acceptable bacteria killing, osteogenic and angiogenic properties are challenging in biomedical applications. Herein, the self-healing polymeric coatings are fabricated on Mg alloys using the spin-assisted layer-by-layer (SLbL) assembly of hyaluronic acid (HA) and branched polyethyleneimine (bPEI) followed by chemical crosslinking treatment.

Magnesium (Mg)-based orthopedic implant materials can potentially be protected from deterioration using a protective polymer coating. However, this coating is susceptible to excessive corrosion and accidental scratches. Moreover, the inadequate bone integration and infections associated with bone implants present additional challenges that hinder their effective use.

Background: Patients with pituitary adenomas (PAs) are at an increased risk preoperatively and postoperatively for hypopituitarism. Postoperative hypocortisolism is associated with increased mortality and morbidity as well as poor quality of life. However, research about the risk factors for postoperative hypocortisolism is limited, and a predictive nomogram for postoperative hypocortisolism has not yet been developed.

Background: Postoperative delayed hyponatremia (PDH) is a major cause of readmission after endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery (eTSS) for pituitary adenomas (PAs). However, the risk factors associated with PDH have not been well established, and the development of a dynamic online nomogram for predicting PDH is yet to be realized. We aimed to investigate the predictive factors for PDH and construct a dynamic online nomogram to aid in its prediction.

Although biodegradable polymer coatings can impede corrosion of magnesium (Mg)-based orthopedic implants, they are prone to excessive degradation and accidental scratching in practice. Bone implant-related infection and limited osteointegration are other factors that adversely impact clinical application of Mg-based biomedical implants. Herein, a self-healing polymeric coating is constructed on the Mg alloy together with incorporation of a stimuli-responsive drug delivery nanoplatform by a spin-spray layer-by-layer (SSLbL) assembly technique.

Introduction: As a CGM-derived indicator, 'time in range' (TIR) is emerging as a key indicator for accurate assessment of glycaemic control. However, there is few report focusing on the correlation of TIR with albumuria and renal fuction. The aim of this work was to investigate whether TIR, as well as nocturnal TIR and hypoglycaemic events is related to the presence and severity of albuminuria and decrease of eGFR in type 2 diabetes.

Background: Time in range (TIR), a novel proxy measure of glucose control, is found closely related to diabetic microangiopathy and some other chronic complications, but the correlation between TIR and lower limb angiopathy has not been studied yet. Our purpose is to explore the relationship between TIR and abnormal ankle-brachial index(ABI) in type 2 diabetes.
Methods: We retrospectively collected patients' information from the database and performed cross-sectional analysis.

Injuries to the central nervous system (CNS) often lead to severe neurological dysfunction and even death. However, there are still no effective measures to improve functional recovery following CNS injuries. Optogenetics, an ideal method to modulate neural activity, has shown various advantages in controlling neural circuits, promoting neural remapping, and improving cell survival.

Aim: Lower grade gliomas [LGGs; World Health Organization (WHO) grades 2 and 3], owing to the heterogeneity of their clinical behavior, present a therapeutic challenge to neurosurgeons. The aim of this study was to explore the N6-methyladenosine (mA) modification landscape in the LGGs and to develop an mA-related microRNA (miRNA) risk model to provide new perspectives for the treatment and prognostic assessment of LGGs.
Methods: Messenger RNA (mRNA) and miRNA expression data of LGGs were extracted from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA) databases.
