Exertional heat stroke (EHS) is a life-threatening condition characterized by hyperthermia and multi-organ dysfunction, often associated with intestinal barrier disruption. This study evaluated the protective effects of Huoxiang Zhengqi Dropping Pills (HXZQD) against EHS in a rat model. HXZQD was administered via oral gavage at low, medium, and high doses, followed by EHS induction through exercise under high-temperature and high-humidity conditions.

Circular RNAs are a single-stranded non-coding RNAs and play an important role in the development of many diseases. Alternative polyadenylation (APA) regulates the gene 3'UTR length for controlling gene expressions. Although the APA mechanism has been widely studied in the development of diseases, there is no data on its role in the burned intestinal mucosa.

Background: Exertional heat stroke (EHS) is a critical condition arising from prolonged physical exertion in high temperatures that typically presents with normal hemoglobin levels. However, atypical presentations can also occur, leading to significant complications such as hemolytic anemia and organ dysfunction.
Case Summary: This case report describes a male patient who experienced moderate-to-severe anemia that was difficult to correct, with a confirmed diagnosis of microangiopathic hemolytic anemia accompanying multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, indicative of critical EHS.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is characterized as a microvascular disease. Nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) presents with alterations in retinal blood flow and vascular permeability, thickening of the basement membrane, loss of pericytes, and formation of acellular capillaries. Endothelial-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) of retinal microvessels may play a critical role in advancing NPDR.

Introduction: Cardiovascular events resulting from volume overload are a primary cause of mortality in hemodialysis patients. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is significantly valuable for assessing the volume status of hemodialysis (HD) patients. In this article, we explore the correlation between the volume index measured by BIA and the cardiac function index assessed by echocardiography (ECG) in HD patients.

Apigenin is a kind of flavonoid with many beneficial biological effects. It not only has direct cytotoxicity to tumor cells, but also can boost the antitumor effect of immune cells by modulating immune system. The purpose of this study was to investigate the proliferation of NK cells treated with apigenin and its cytotoxicity to pancreatic cancer cells in vitro, and explore its potential molecular mechanism.

Choroidal melanoma (CM) is the most common type of diagnosed uveal melanoma (UM), which is prone to metastasis and exhibits a poor prognosis. The molecular mechanisms underlying CM progression need further elucidation to research effective therapeutic strategies. Histone deacetylase 7 (HDAC7) is very important in regulating cancer progression, but the significance and effect of HDAC7 on CM progression are unclear.

Background: Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) occurs in the gastrointestinal tract and injured intestinal mucosa is the anatomical basis for various diseases. The expression of circular RNAs (circRNAs) is implicated in many diseases; however, the role of circRNAs in intestinal mucosal injury is yet to be discovered. Our preliminary gene microarray analysis revealed a novel circular RNA, circMaml2, with a significant intestinal mucosal protection effect.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality worldwide. Myocardial ischemia may occur in patients with normal or non-obstructive CAD on invasive coronary angiography (ICA). The comprehensive evaluation of coronary CT angiography (CCTA) integrated with fractional flow reserve derived from CCTA (CT-FFR) to CAD may be essential to improve the outcomes of patients with non-obstructive CAD.

Background: Senescence marker protein 30 (), which plays a pivotal role as a suppressor protein in cell proliferation, among other regulatory actions, is a marker of aging that shows decreased expression during senescence. Decreased has been identified in several human cancers, but its expression and role in human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remain unclear.
Methods: Using tumor tissue and matched adjacent normal tissue from 341 patients with resected NSCLC, we assessed expression using immunohistochemical methods.
