Recently, epigenetics showed essential roles in tumour microenvironment (TME) and immunotherapy response, however, the functions of RNA 5-methylcytosine (m5C) modification in TME remains unknown. According to 13 m5C regulators, we evaluated 412 BLCA patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. The m5C score was constructed by unsupervised clustering analysis and principal component analysis (PCA) algorithms.

Objective: To compare the efficacy of intermittent hemodialysis (IHD) and continuous veno-venous hemofiltration (CVVH) in patients with chronic renal failure complicated by massive intracerebral hemorrhage.
Methods: Sixty-two patients were randomly and equally divided into IHD and CVVH groups. The clinical variables were compared, including National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score as the primary indicator, cerebral edema volume, hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) incidence, acute heart failure (AHF) incidence, rehemorrhage incidence, hospital stay length, and modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score.

In addition to oxidative damage, sepsis can cause multiple organ dysfunction and poses a life-threatening threat. In addition to severe tissue damage, hypotension, and multiple organ failure, sepsis can cause high morbidity and mortality. It is the lungs that are most vulnerable in abdominal sepsis, with impaired oxygen and nutrient exchange occurring in the pulmonary microcirculation.

To our knowledge, Sex-determining Region Y box 9 (SOX9) has been in connection with a wide range of human cancers. Nevertheless, there remains uncertainty regarding SOX9's role in metastasizing ovarian cancer. In our study, SOX9 was investigated in relation to tumor metastasis in ovarian cancer as well as its potential molecular mechanisms.

Dysregulation of histone methyltransferase SET and MYND domain-containing protein 2 (SMYD2) has been correlated with human developmental disorders and cancers. This research aims to investigate the roles of SMYD2 and its interacted molecules in pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD). Two PAAD-related gene expression datasets were downloaded to screen key molecules involved in tumor progression.

Crocin, a unique water-soluble carotenoid extracted from saffron, is known to exert anticancer activity against various cancer types, including thyroid cancer (TC). However, the detailed mechanism underlying the anticancer effect of crocin in TC needs further exploration. Targets of crocin and targets associated with TC were acquired from public databases.

Radiotherapy (RT) efficacy can be promoted with the help of nanoenzyme that can "re-programing" the tumour's micro-environment by changing the expression level of special bio-molecules. However, problems such as low reaction efficiency, limited endogenous HO, and/or unsatisfactory results of a single catalysis mode in treatment limit the application in the RT field. Herein, a novel Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) decorated iron SAE (FeSAE@Au) was formulated for self-cascade catalytic RT.

Adult patients with newly diagnosed de novo acute myeloid leukemia (AML), who had less than a 50% reduction in blast numbers and with > 15% residual blasts after first cycle of induction chemotherapy, defined as type 1 primary refractory (REF1), have grave prognosis. We retrospectively analyzed the data of 58 patients with REF1 who received salvage treatments with curative intension to evaluate the impact of salvage regimens with regard to response and overall survival (OS). Seventeen patients received intermediate- or high-dose cytarabine (ID/HD Ara-C) based intensive salvage chemotherapy, 36 patients received G-CSF primed less intensive chemotherapy and 5 patients received novel targeted drugs based low intensive therapy.

Background: About 5%-15% of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients undergoing stent implantation have concomitant atrial fibrillation and need both antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapies. The optimal antithrombotic regimen remains uncertain in this scenario.
Hypothesis: A multicenter randomized controlled trial (OPtimal management of anTIthroMbotic Agents [OPTIMA]-4) is designed to test the hypothesis that, for ACS patients with concomitant nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) and having low-to-moderate risk of bleeding, clopidogrel is comparable in efficacy but superior in safety compared to ticagrelor while being used in combination with dabigatran after new-generation drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation.

Purpose: Corticosteroid insensitivity has become a major barrier in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is known that oxidative stress reduces the expression and activity of histone deacetylase (HDAC)-2 by activating phosphoinositide-3-kinase-δ(PI3Kδ)/Akt pathway, which is a common mechanism. The aim of this study was to investigate whether cryptotanshinone (CPT) can improve corticosteroid sensitivity and to investigate the molecular mechanisms by which this occurs.

Protein arginine methyltransferase 2 (PRMT2) is involved in several biological processes via histone methylation and transcriptional regulation. Although PRMT2 has been reported to affect breast cancer and glioblastoma progression, its role in renal cell cancer (RCC) remains unclear. Here, we found that PRMT2 was upregulated in primary RCC and RCC cell lines.

Kinesin family member 23 (KIF23) serves as a tumor-promoting gene with prognostic values in various tumors. However, the role of KIF23 in esophageal carcinoma (ESCA) progression is largely unknown. The overlapping differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in GSE12452, GSE17351, and GSE20347 datasets were identified via GEO2R tool and Venn diagram software.

Background: Inflammation plays a prominent role in the pathogenesis and progression of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). The red blood cell distribution width to platelet ratio (RPR) has been demonstrated as a novel biomarker to indicate the severity of inflammatory reaction. This study aimed to explore the association between RPR before intravenous thrombolysis and early neurological deterioration (END) after thrombolysis in AIS patients.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) ranks the most lethal malignancies around the world, nearly 85 % of lung cancers are NSCLC. Its high prevalence and morbidity pose a considerable burden to human health, identifying promising therapeutic targets for NSCLC is urgently needed. The essential function of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in multiple cellular progressions and pathophysiological processes are widely understood, thus we investigated the role of lncRNA T-cell leukemia/lymphoma 6 (TCL6) in NSCLC progression.

Photodynamic therapy increases collagen and decreases solar fibrosis in photoaged skin; however, the efficacy of photodynamic therapy is limited in tissues with a hypoxic microenvironment. A novel autogenous oxygen-targeted nanoparticle, named MCZT, was synthesized based on the zeolitic imidazole framework material ZIF-8, methyl aminolevulinate, catalase and an anti-TRPV1 monoclonal antibody, and its effects on skin photoaging were investigated. MCZT was successfully synthesized and showed uniform particle size, good dispersion, and excellent biocompatibility and safety.
