Endometritis is one of the common reproductive diseases in human and animal. In recent years, a number of studies have found that Schisandra B (Sch B), as a natural Chinese medicine extract, has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and other biological activities. Based on the above, in this study, mice were used to conduct an in vivo experiment to investigate the effect and mechanism of Sch B on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced endometritis.

Oxidative stress is closely associated with the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) levels. A comprehensive indicator for evaluating dietary and lifestyle exposures to oxidative stress is the Oxidative Balance Score (OBS), with higher OBS suggesting more substantial antioxidant exposures. The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between OBS and eGFR levels.

Objective: To investigate the effect of baijinpingchuan (, BJPC) on the asthma rat model and identify differential metabolites and disturbed metabolic pathways.

Methods: The rats were categorized into six groups: control, dexamethasone (DEX), ovalbumin (OVA), and low-, median-, and high-dose BJPC. The rats, except for the control group, were initially treated with OVA to develop the asthma model, which was then activated using DEX, OVA, and low-, median-, and high-dose BJPC.

Yin deficiency syndrome is a theoretical concept of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that claims an imbalance between Yin and Yang serves as a potential etiological factor disrupting physiological homeostasis. Its diagnosis in TCM is hindered by the intricate and diverse etiology, resulting in the absence of quantification and standardization. Hence, this study developed a hydrocortisone (HC) induced Yin deficiency syndrome model to investigate the intricate network underlying TCM and elucidate its intervention mechanism.

Coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, and its life-threatening sequels impose the hugest burden on the healthcare systems throughout the world. The intricate process of atherosclerosis is considered as an inflammatory-based disorder, and therefore, the components of the immune system are involved in different stages from formation of coronary plaques to its development. One of the major effectors in this way are the antibody producing entities, the B cells.

Background: Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute pediatric vasculitis that can lead to coronary artery aneurysms and severe cardiovascular complications, often presenting with obvious fever in the early stages. In current clinical practice, distinguishing KD from other febrile illnesses remains a significant challenge. In recent years, some researchers have explored the potential of machine learning (ML) methods for the differential diagnosis of KD versus other febrile illnesses, as well as for predicting coronary artery lesions (CALs) in people with KD.

Introduction: Ferroptosis is a crucial process contributing to neuronal damage following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Didang Tang (DDT), a traditional therapeutic, has been used clinically to manage ICH for many years, yet the molecular mechanisms by which by DDT protects neurons from ferroptosis after ICH remain elusive.

Methods: This study utilized high-performance liquid chromatography-based fingerprint analysis to characterize DDT's chemical composition.

Ginseng may improve the myelosuppression and intestinal microbiota disorder induced by cyclophosphamide (CY); however, the effect of ginseng components on hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) damage remains largely unexplored. The present study aimed to assess the protective effect of ginseng extract (GE), total ginsenosides (TG) and total polysaccharides (TP) from ginseng on the intestinal microflora and HSCs of model mice. In the present study, a mouse model of HSC damage induced by CY was constructed, intestinal microflora of fecal samples were sequenced using the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) sequencing techniques, the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of HSCs were analyzed using high‑throughput RNA‑sequencing, cell apoptosis and erythroid differentiation were detected using flow cytometry and the blood cell parameters were analyzed using a hematology analyzer.

Reassessment of capsaicin desensitization in the rodent spinal dorsal horn.

Neurochem Int

December 2024

Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology, K.K. Leung Brain Research Centre, The Fourth Military Medical University, Xi'an, Shaanxi, 710032, China. Electronic address:

Capsaicin activates primary afferent transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) in the spinal dorsal horn and induces exaggerated glutamate release. This capsaicin action is followed by a lasting refractory state referred to as "capsaicin desensitization", which is considered a presynaptic event. In this study, using whole-cell recordings and holographic photostimulation, we reassessed this notion by investigating presynaptic glutamate release and the postsynaptic glutamate response during capsaicin administration.

Article Synopsis
  • The rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria like MRSA has led researchers to explore anti-virulence treatments, moving away from traditional antibiotics.
  • This study found that daphnetin can effectively disrupt MRSA's ability to adhere and invade cells by targeting the enzyme Sortase A (SrtA) and the toxin α-hemolysin (Hla).
  • Daphnetin not only inhibited key MRSA processes such as biofilm formation and hemolysis but also showed potential in protecting against MRSA-induced pneumonia in vivo, making it a promising candidate for treating bacterial infections.
