Department of Critical Care Medicine, the Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University (the Second People's Hospital of Yunnan Province), Kunming 650021, Yunnan, China. Corresponding author: Ling Bin, Email:

Sepsis is a life-threatening multiple organ dysfunction disease with high mortality and has become leading causes of death affecting intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Both long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) and microRNA (miRNA) are involved in the pathophysiological process of sepsis and can regulate the inflammatory response, both of which could be used as important diagnostic indicators and therapeutic targets of sepsis. The interaction among lncRNA, miRNA and mRNA plays an important role in sepsis and multiple organ dysfunction.

Background: Insulin receptor (INSR), insulin receptor substrate (IRS) and glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) play important roles in the insulin resistance pathway. The microRNA (miRNA or miR) involved in INSR, IRS or GLUT4 could be associated with the development of type 2 diabetes (T2DM).

Methods: The aim of this study was to investigate the association of T2DM with 12 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 7 miRNAs (miR-195, miR-126, miR-144, miR-155, miR-21, miR-93 and miR-222) involved in the insulin resistance pathway.

Sequential stabilization of RNF220 by RLIM and ZC4H2 during cerebellum development and Shh-group medulloblastoma progression.

J Mol Cell Biol

April 2022

State Key Laboratory of Genetic Resources and Evolution, Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Kunming 650223, China.

Sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling is essential for the proliferation of cerebellar granule neuron progenitors (CGNPs), and its misregulation is linked to various disorders, including cerebellar cancer medulloblastoma (MB). During vertebrate neural development, RNF220, a ubiquitin E3 ligase, is involved in spinal cord patterning by modulating the subcellular location of glioma-associated oncogene homologs (Glis) through ubiquitination. RNF220 is also required for full activation of Shh signaling during cerebellum development in an epigenetic manner through targeting embryonic ectoderm development.

Dieulafoy's disease is characterized by abnormal submucosal arteries and results in acute luminal hemorrhage. Dieulafoy's lesions can also be found in the submucosa of the bronchus. Due to its low incidence rate and non-specific clinical symptoms, Dieulafoy's disease is easy to overlook, but can lead to massive bleeding and high rates of mortality.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become the most common hepatic disease, while no drug was approved until now. The previous study reported that the quadruple FFA1/PPAR-α/γ/δ agonist RLA8 provided better efficacy than obeticholic acid on NASH. In the present study, two design strategies were introduced to explore better quadruple FFA1/PPAR-α/γ/δ agonists with improved metabolic stability.

Exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs) are potential biomarkers for a variety of tumors, but have not yet been studied in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Here, we investigated the use of exosomal miRNAs in DLBCL diagnosis and prognosis. A total of 256 individuals, including 133 DLBCL patients, 94 healthy controls (HCs), and 29 non-DLBCL concurrent controls (CCs), were enrolled.

Preeclampsia is a common syndrome in pregnancy and a leading cause of mortality of pregnant females and their infants. To investigate the diagnostic and prognostic utility of lncRNA T-cell leukemia/lymphoma 6 (TCL6) in patients with preeclampsia, 120 singleton pregnant females with preeclampsia and another 100 healthy pregnant control subjects were analyzed in the present study. The expression of lncRNA TCL6 in the serum of the included patients was detected.

ROS-Based Nanoparticles for Atherosclerosis Treatment.

Materials (Basel)

November 2021

Department of Medical Ultrasound, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan 430030, China.

Atherosclerosis (AS), a chronic arterial disease, is the leading cause of death in western developed countries. Considering its long-term asymptomatic progression and serious complications, the early prevention and effective treatment of AS are particularly important. The unique characteristics of nanoparticles (NPs) make them attractive in novel therapeutic and diagnostic applications, providing new options for the treatment of AS.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death worldwide, and heterogeneity of HCC is the major barrier in improving patient outcome. To stratify HCC patients with different degrees of malignancy and provide precise treatment strategies, we reconstructed the tumor evolution trajectory with the help of scRNA-seq data and established a 30-gene prognostic model to identify the malignant state in HCC. Patients were divided into high-risk and low-risk groups.

Aconitine is the main effective component of traditional Chinese medicine , which has been proved to have severe cardiovascular toxicity. The toxic effect of aconitine on cardiomyocytes is related to intracellular calcium overload, but the mechanism remains unclear. The aim of this study was to explore the mechanism of aconitine inducing intracellular Ca overload and promoting H9c2 cardiomyocyte apoptosis through transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 2 (TRPV2).

Osteomyelitis is one of the most challenging diseases in the field of orthopedics for its complex pathogenesis and unsatisfactory treatment. The mechanism underlying its occurrence and development is still unclear. In our previous study, we found that long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) NONHSAT009968 inhibited the ability of osteogenic differentiation in staphylococcal protein A (SPA)-treated human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hBMMSCs), but the underlying mechanism remains unclear.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease amongst the middle‑aged and elderly populations. Several studies have confirmed that the microbiota‑gut‑brain axis (MGBA) serves a key role in the pathogenesis of PD. Changes to the gastrointestinal microbiome (GM) cause misfolding and abnormal aggregation of α‑synuclein (α‑syn) in the intestine.

The incidence of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH) is increasing. Accumulating evidence suggests that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an important role in HPH, but the functions and mechanism have yet to be fully elucidated. In the present study, we established a HPH rat model with 8 h of hypoxia exposure (10% O2) per day for 21 days.

Background: Extra-hepatic bile duct injury (EHBDI) is very rare among all blunt abdominal injuries. According to literature statistics, it only accounts for 3%-5% of abdominal injuries, most of which are combined injuries. Isolated EHBDI is more rare, with a special injury mechanism, clinical presentation and treatment strategy, so missed diagnosis easily occurs.
