Background: Heart failure (HF) is a common clinical syndrome due to ventricular dysfunction and is a major cause of mortality worldwide. Ferroptosis, marked by excessive iron-dependent lipid peroxidation, is closely related to HF. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore and validate ferroptosis-related markers in HF by bioinformatics analysis and animal experiments validation.

Background: Younger age is an independent risk factor for breast cancer (BC) prognosis, and BC in young women is often considered more aggressive. BC patients with different age and molecular subtypes have different metastasis patterns and survival. Herein, we aim to explore the metastasis patterns, characteristics and treatment methods of young patients with BC, and to compare them with older patients.

Adropin is encoded by the energy homeostasis-associated (ENHO) gene and widely present in liver, pancreas, heart, kidney, brain, and vascular tissues. Abnormal adropin is associated with metabolic, inflammatory, immune, and central nervous disorders. Whether adropin is involved in the development of colorectal cancer (CRC) is still unclear.

Background: Congenital agenesis of the gallbladder (CAGB) is a rare condition often misdiagnosed as cholecystolithiasis, leading to unnecessary surgeries. Accurate diagnosis and surgical exploration are crucial in patients with suspected CAGB or atypical gallbladder stone symptoms. Preoperative imaging, such as magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP), plays a vital role in confirming the diagnosis.

Increased prevalence of cancer in obese individuals is involved with dyslipidemia- induced chronic inflammation and immune suppression. Although apolipoprotein C-III (ApoC3)-transgenic mice (ApoC3 mice) or poloxamer 407 (P407)-treated mice had hyperlipidemia, CD8 T cells with upregulated antitumor activities were observed in ApoC3 mice, and decreased CD8 T cell activities were observed in P407-treated mice. Increased ApoC3 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma was associated with increased infiltration of CD8 T cells and predicted survival.

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are the primary source of tumor recurrence and chemoresistance, which complicates tumor treatment and has a significant impact on poor patient prognosis. Therefore, the discovery of inhibitors that specifically target CSCs is warranted. Previous research has established that the TGF-β/Smad signaling pathway is critical for the maintenance of CSCs phenotype, thus facilitating CSCs transformation.

Metal nanoparticles play an outstanding role in the field of wound healing due to their excellent properties, and the significance of iron, one of the most widely used metals globally, cannot be overlooked. The purpose of this review is to determine the importance of iron nanoparticles in wound-healing dressings. Prolonged, poorly healing wounds may induce infections; wound infections are a major cause of chronic wound formation.

Background: Skeletal muscle mass and quality assessed by computed tomography (CT) images of the third lumbar vertebra (L3) level have been established as risk factors for poor clinical outcomes in several illnesses, but the relevance for dialysis patients is unclear. A few studies have suggested a correlation between CT-determined skeletal muscle mass and quality at the first lumbar vertebra (L1) level and adverse outcomes. Generally, chest CT does not reach beyond L1.

Cellular senescence is broadly known as a stable cell cycle arrest accompanied by a senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). In the past decades, calcium signaling has emerged as a key mediator of cellular senescence. However, the transcriptional regulation of calcium signaling during cellular senescence remains partially understood.

Background: Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are an important subset of innate immune cells in the tumor microenvironment, and they are pivotal regulators of tumor-promoting inflammation and tumor progression. Evidence has proven that TAM numbers are substantially increased in cancers, and most of these TAMs are polarized toward the alternatively activated M2 phenotype; Thus, these TAMs strongly promote the progression of cancer diseases. Type 1 innate lymphocytes (ILC1s) are present in high numbers in intestinal tissues and are characterized by the expression of the transcription factor T-bet and the secretion of interferon (IFN)-γ, which can promote macrophages to polarize toward the classically activated antitumor M1 phenotype.
