Chronic exposure to IQOS results in impaired pulmonary function and lung tissue damage in mice.

Toxicol Lett

February 2023

Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Northern Jiangsu People's Hospital, Clinical Medical College of Yangzhou University, Yangzhou University, Yangzhou 225001, Jiangsu, China. Electronic address:

The use of IQOS brand heated tobacco products (HTPs) is increasing worldwide; however, little is known about the long-term effects of HTPs aerosol exposure on the lungs. Herein, we exposed C57BL/6 J mice for 24 weeks to clean air, IQOS aerosol, or cigarette smoke, and determined pulmonary function, lung tissue pathology, inflammation, and oxidative stress. Compared with the control group mice, IQOS group mice showed substantially decreased weight and lung function.

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of the "Grade III Level A hospital-community hospital family" -based management model.A total of 164 rural patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) were randomly divided into a control group and an intervention group according to the random number table. By comparing the two groups of patients' dependence, cardiovascular risk factors control, improvement of bad habits, and the occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), the management mode was evaluated.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to develop a novel artificial intelligence (AI) system that can automatically detect and classify protruded gastric lesions and help address the challenges of diagnostic accuracy and inter-reader variability encountered in routine diagnostic workflow.

Methods: We analyzed data from 1,366 participants who underwent gastroscopy at Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital and Yangzhou First People's Hospital between December 2010 and December 2020. These patients were diagnosed with submucosal tumors (SMTs) including gastric stromal tumors (GISTs), gastric leiomyomas (GILs), and gastric ectopic pancreas (GEP).

Osteoarthritis (OA) and Parkinson's disease (PD) are on the rise and greatly impact the quality of individuals' lives. Although accumulating evidence indicates a relationship between OA and PD, the particular interactions connecting the two diseases have not been thoroughly examined. Therefore, this study explored the association through genetic characterization and functional enrichment.

Clinical Significance of High Expression of tRF-Glu-TTC-2 in Prostate Carcinoma and its Effect on Growth.

Am J Mens Health

November 2022

Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine, College of Basic Medical Sciences, Dalian Medical University, Dalian, China.

The tRNA-derived fragments (tRFs) are a new class of regulatory noncoding RNAs and have different biological functions in cancer. This article investigated the expression and clinicopathological significance of tRF-Glu-TTC-2 in prostate carcinoma (PCa), and its effect on tumor growth. Expression profiles of tRFs and tiRNAs were analyzed by tRF and tiRNAs microarray in PCa samples, and then the expression was confirmed by qRT-PCR; RNA in situ hybridization was used to detect the positive expression of tRF-Glu-TTC-2 and to analyze the correlation between the expression level of tRF-Glu-TTC-2 and clinicopathological parameters.

Construction and evaluation of a polygenic hazard score for prognostic assessment in localized gastric cancer.

Fundam Res

September 2024

Department of Epidemiology, Center for Global Health, School of Public Health, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing 211166, China.

To investigate whether genetic variants may provide additional prognostic value to improve the existing clinical staging system for gastric cancer (GC), we performed two genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of GC survival in the Jiangsu ( = 1049) and Shanghai ( = 1405) cohorts. By using a TCGA dataset, we validated genetic markers identified from a meta-analysis of these two Chinese cohorts to determine GC survival-associated loci. Then, we constructed a weighted polygenic hazard score (PHS) and developed a nomogram in combination with clinical variables.
