In this editorial, we reviewed the article by Li . We aimed to explore various perspectives to further mitigate the risk factors for postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), which could significantly reduce its incidence and related postoperative complications. PONV is highly prevalent among patients undergoing bariatric surgery, yet there are relatively few related studies.

The number of lymph nodes (LNs) dissected during surgery has become an interesting topic. Simple intuition always leads us to believe that dissecting more LNs will result in more accurate pathological staging and assurance of surgical quality. However, when the number of LNs dissected reaches a certain threshold, the patient's prognosis does not continue to improve as the number of dissected nodes increases.

Background: The use of the residual cancer burden (RCB) for assessing breast cancer after neoadjuvant therapy (NAT) is increasingly common, but the prognostic difference between RCB 0 and RCB I is unclear.
Methods: We systematically reviewed literature from PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and oncology conferences until September 24, 2023. We used fixed- and random-effects models to calculate hazard ratio (HR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) for event-free survival (EFS), overall survival (OS), and distant disease-free survival (DDFS).

Up to half of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage, for which effective treatment options are lacking, resulting in a poor prognosis. Over the past few years, the combination of immune checkpoint inhibitors and anti-angiogenic targeted therapy has proven highly efficacious in treating advanced HCC, significantly extending patients' survival and providing a potential for sequential curative surgery. After sequential curative hepatectomy or liver transplantation following conversion therapy, patients can receive long-term survival benefits.

Background: Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), as a new type of targeted drug, have been widely used in breast cancer patients in recent years. However, while achieving better efficacy, its hepatotoxicity should not be ignored.
Objectives: To clarify the incidence of hepatotoxicity associated with ADCs and compare the incidence of hepatotoxicity of ADCs with different drugs.

This study aims to investigate the effect of Zhishi Xiebai Guizhi Decoction on the phenotypic transformation of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells(PASMCs) in rats with hypoxic pulmonary hypertension(HPH). Healthy SPF SD rats were randomly assigned to five groups: control group, hypoxia model group, hypoxia + low-dose Zhishi Xiebai Guizhi Decoction group(440 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)), hypoxia + high-dose Zhishi Xiebai Guizhi Decoction group(880 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)), and hypoxia + sildenafil group(30 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)), with right rats in each group. Rats in the hypoxia model and hypoxia + drug groups were exposed to a hypobaric oxygen chamber with a simulated altitude of 5 000 m to induce the PH model.

Renal diseases, particularly acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD), are significant global health challenges. These conditions impair kidney function and can lead to serious complications, including cardiovascular diseases, which further exacerbate the public health burden. Currently, the global AKI mortality rate is alarmingly high (20%-50%); CKD is projected to emerge as a major global health burden by 2040.

Background: CDK4/6 inhibitors are highly valued, but the incidence of cardiovascular adverse events (CVAEs) associated with CDK4/6 inhibitors is not clear.
Objective: Our aim was therefore to assess the risk of developing CVAEs associated with CDK4/6 inhibitors, by conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs), along with a pharmacovigilance study of the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database.
Methods: Eligible CVAEs were extracted from the ClinicalTrials.

Background: Minimally invasive surgeries are increasingly central to modern medicine, particularly in liver transplantation. These techniques, which offer reduced trauma, precise operations, minimal bleeding, and swift recovery, are, however, unevenly adopted across China. Only a limited number of centers routinely perform minimally invasive donor hepatectomies, indicating a significant imbalance in the development and application of these advanced procedures.

Background: Although there have been significant advancements in the treatment modalities for gastric cancer (GC) in recent years, the overall prognosis remains poor, particularly for individuals in advanced stages. The absence of a sensitive tumor marker in GC is a crucial factor contributing to this challenge.
Methods: Our study focused on investigating a newly discovered long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) known as TCONS_00251376, which has been confirmed to exhibit differential expression in GC compared to adjacent tissues.

Malnutrition is not only a prevalent condition among the elderly but also a common comorbidity in elderly people with gastric cancer (GC). Malnutrition is closely linked to high rates of postoperative complications and poor wound healing in elderly GC patients, which may lead to a higher incidence and mortality rate of GC. Malnutrition decreases the physical function of elderly GC patients after surgery, severely affecting their postoperative life quality and hindering subsequent treatments.

Following laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG), one of the critical complications that can arise is a pancreatic fistula (PF). The inability to promptly prevent, diagnose, and manage this condition can lead to severe complications and potentially be life-threatening for the patient. The incidence of PF post-LG in gastric cancer treatment is related to factors such as surgical approach, surgical instruments, characteristics of the pancreas itself, tumor stage, and the surgeon's experience.

Nephrotoxic adverse events (AEs) have been observed in patients with breast cancer receiving cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) 4/6 inhibitors. This study aimed to evaluate the risk of nephrotoxicity associated with these inhibitors through a meta-analysis of 17 randomized controlled trials involving 19,638 patients. The results indicate a significant increase in all-grade nephrotoxic AEs, including elevated blood creatinine levels, acute kidney injury, and renal impairment (RR = 3.
