April 2021

State Key Laboratory of Cancer Biology, National Clinical Research Center for Digestive Diseases and Xijing Hospital of Digestive Diseases, Air Force Medical University, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province 710032, China.

Aim: Increasing evidence supports the role of the gut microbiota in the etiology of ulcerative colitis (UC). Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is a highly effective treatment against recurrent Clostridium difficile infection; however, its efficacy in UC is still controversial. A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of FMT for treatment of active UC.

Overexpressed gastrin is reported to promote oncogenesis and development of gastric cancer by inhibiting apoptosis of cancer cells; however, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Our study is aimed at revealing the mechanism underlying the effect of gastrin on apoptosis of gastric cancer cells. Gastrin-interfering cell line was constructed by stably transfecting gastrin-specific pshRNA plasmid to gastric cancer cell line BGC-823.

Background: We aimed to explore the relation of XPD and XPF variants with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) risk and the effect of these variants on the sensitivity to cisplatin-based chemotherapy among the Chinese Han population in high-altitude areas.

Methods: Eight single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in XPD and XPF were genotyped by Agena MassARRAY platform among 506 NSCLC cases and 510 healthy controls. Correlation of XPD and XPF gene polymorphisms with NSCLC susceptibility and the response of cis-platin-based chemotherapy were analyzed with logistic regression by calculating odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).

Dysregulation of RNA binding proteins (RBPs) is closely associated with tumor events. However, the function of RBPs in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has not been fully elucidated. The RNA sequences and relevant clinical data of HCC were retrieved from the The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database to identify distinct RBPs.

Department of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, The Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University; Qinghai Provincial Key Laboratory for Echinococcosis, Xining, Qinghai 810001, China.

A patient with cystic echinococcosis was presented with primary lesions in the waist and hip. The case was misdiagnosed as subcutaneous abscess at initial diagnosis, and then definitively diagnosed as echinococcosis by means of imaging examinations and anti- antibody test. This case was reported with aims to improve the awareness of cystic echinococcosis among clinical physicians to avoid and reduce the misdiagnosis and missing diagnosis.

Non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the leading cause of cancer‑related deaths worldwide. Cisplatin‑based chemotherapy currently represents the main treatment option for patients with NSCLC. The aim of the present study was to evaluate effect of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the excision repair cross‑complementing group 5 (ERCC5) gene on susceptibility to NSCLC, as well as the responsiveness to and toxicity of cisplatin chemotherapy.

[Progress of researches on the use of ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of hepatic alveolar echinococcosis].

Zhongguo Xue Xi Chong Bing Fang Zhi Za Zhi

June 2020

Department of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, The Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University, Qinghai Provincial Key Laboratory for Echinococcosis Research, China.

The patients with hepatic alveolar echinococcosis have unapparent early symptoms due to invasive and slow growth, and the disease is usually at an advanced stage upon diagnosis, which has a poor prognosis. Early diagnosis of hepatic alveolar echinococcosis is therefore of great importance. The advances in the ultrasound techniques continues to improve the accuracy for the diagnosis of hepatic alveolar echinococcosis, and ultrasound plays a critical role in the treatment and assessment of therapeutic efficacy for hepatic alveolar echinococcosis.

Background: Skeletal muscle depletion and excessive visceral adipose tissue have been shown to be independent risk factors for postoperative complications (PCs) in various diseases. However, their impact on surgical PCs in hepatic alveolar echinococcosis (HAE) is still unknown.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of HAE patients who underwent liver resection at our hospital between January 2008 and December 2018.

Immunosuppressive molecules are extremely valuable prognostic biomarkers across different cancer types. However, the diversity of different immunosuppressive molecules makes it very difficult to accurately predict clinical outcomes based only on a single immunosuppressive molecule. Here, we establish a comprehensive immune scoring system (ISS) based on 6 immunosuppressive ligands (NECTIN2, CEACAM1, HMGB1, SIGLEC6, CD44, and CD155) using the LASSO method to improve prognostic accuracy and provide an additional selection strategy for adjuvant chemotherapy of gastric cancer (GC).

To retrospectively analyze the clinical features and survival analysis of primary intestinal extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma nasal type(ENKTL). Patients with intestinal lymphoma at the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Military Medical University were collected from January 2009 to December 2019, and those with primary intestinal ENKTL screened. The general situation, main symptoms, ECOG scale, lactic dehydrogenase(LDH), and β(2)-microglobulin(β(2)-MG)in the serum, lesion site and form, numbers of extranodal invasion, Lugano stage, pathological features, and lifetime and survival outcomes were evaluated.

Guangdong Lung Cancer Institute, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences, School of Medicine, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China. Electronic address:

Background: Polymeric micellar paclitaxel (pm-Pac) is a novel Cremophor EL-free, nanoparticle micellar formulation of paclitaxel. We aimed to compare the efficacy and safety between pm-Pac plus cisplatin and solvent-based paclitaxel (sb-Pac) plus cisplatin in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Patients And Methods: A total of 448 stage IIIB to IV NSCLC patients were randomly assigned (2:1) to receive six 3-week cycles of either pm-Pac (230 mg/m) plus cisplatin (70 mg/m; n = 300), followed by dose escalation of pm-Pac to 300 mg/m from the second 3-week cycle if prespecified toxic effects were not observed after the first cycle, or sb-Pac (175 mg/m) plus cisplatin (70 mg/m; n = 148).

Splenic infarction is rare, resulting from occlusion of the splenic artery or its branches. Its aetiology is complex and multifactorial involving various vascular and thrombotic diseases, thus, misdiagnosis or missed diagnosis is common. Here, the case of a 45-year old male patient diagnosed with splenic infarction caused by secondary erythrocytosis associated with obstructive sleep apnoea/hypopnoea syndrome (OSAHS) is reported.
